Chuka Umunna popped up on Newsnight last night to slam Labour for acting like a “petulant child” as support for Jeremy Corbyn surges.

“We were sent a very strong message by the electorate at this general election, and we are behaving like a petulant child who has been told you can’t have the sweeties in the sweetshop, you can’t have power. And now we’re running around stamping our feet, screaming at the electorate.”

Chuka’s intervention comes as constituency Labour party numbers pour in for Corbyn, who now leads the other candidates with 55 nominations. Andy Burnham has 51, Yvette Cooper 42 and Liz Kendall 10. It’s all kicking off…
