Farage Rejects the Short Money mdi-fullscreen

Nigel Farage tried to out-Carswell Douglas Carwell on Question Time last night when he revealed that he will be recommending UKIP take none of the Short Money cash pile.

“The last thing the public want to see is a political party infighting over public money and I’m going to recommend we don’t take any of it. I’m going to recommend we privately fund-raise..”

The Short Money row was so toxic for UKIP because it goes right to the heart of who the apparently anti-establishment party really are now. Carswell was right. Farage found himself in a tricky spot this week, but in rejecting the cash it’s clear he gets it.
