Yesterday Shadow Justice Minister Andy Slaughter’s cack-handed campaign for re-election suffered the embarrassment of distributing illegal leaflets in Hammersmith. Today the Labour MP faces more questions after he was photographed canvassing alongside the Mayor of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Mercy Umeh was foolishly snapped by neighbouring Labour candidate in Chelsea Alexandra Sanderson, clutching leaflets backing Slaughter alongside Labour party activists. The rules are very clear: there is a strict requirement for the Mayor to be non-party political. It’s not the first time she’s been caught helping out Labour either.
