Why is uninspiring South Shields MP Emma Lewell-Buck afraid of talking to voters? The winner (by default) of the South Shields by-election spent the weekend putting “I’m sorry I missed you” leaflets through doors in her constituency, despite not ringing the bell to see if anyone was in. Bemused local co-conspirators tell Guido that Emma herself, as well as a team of helpers, were seen stuffing these leaflets through doors while residents watched from the window. Are things really that bad for her on the doorstep?
