Patrick O’Flynn Denies Leftist Smears mdi-fullscreen

A stinging briefing on UKIPhome this morning:

“Senior members of UKIP are campaigning behind the scenes to have Patrick O’Flynn MEP removed as economic spokesman after his appearance on the BBC’s Newsnight programme last Monday night.

O’Flynn is widely seen as the standard bearer of the left of UKIP leading to “mutterings” against him.”

Pointing to his friendship with David Laws, the latest wheeze being put about is that O’Flynn was in the SDP – something that he categorically denied to Guido this morning:

“I once said in an interview that there was a time that I hoped the hard Owenite trend of the SDP came to something, but I never joined the SDP”

An interesting development in internal UKIP politics.

UPDATE: Guido understands the author of a letter calling for O’Flynn to go is the colourful Sean Howlett.
