Carswell: The Old Parties Respond

Tories:

“This is a regrettable and frankly counterproductive decision. As  Douglas Carswell said, the only way to get a referendum on the EU is to return a majority Conservative government. The Conservative party will contest the forthcoming by-election vigorously to make sure the people in Clacton have a strong conservative voice in this parliament and the next.”

‘The Conservative Party will contest the by-election vigorously, to ensure that the people of Clacton have a strong Conservative voice in this Parliament and the next.’

Labour:

“Douglas Carswell’s defection is a hammer blow to David Cameron. Confidence in David Cameron is collapsing inside a Conservative party which is divided and running scared of UKIP. David Cameron’s weak leadership has seen him abandon the centre ground, repeatedly trying to pander to his own right-wing backbenchers rather than concentrate on the needs of the country. Now even his own side are abandoning him.”

Panic stations.

A referendum run by Cons will be a fudge and/or one-sided fix, especially if UKIP votes are seen to stall.

A vote fixed for “Stay” with all the weight of government, opposition, BBC, media behind it will be worse trhan no vote at all as it will be used to justify EU integration for generations, whatever the wording.

It matters not which of the 3 headed hydra is “the government”, you’ll get the same stuff from all of them. The same limitless immigration, more rule from the EU (despite Cameron’s siren call referendum fraud), the same costly military adventurism abroad, industrial scale waste of public money, more police state privacy busting laws hatched to appease the obsessive social Marxists in the noisy and unrepresentative extremist pressure groups (eg see May’s evil New Labour aping plans to put you in jail for years if you have a disagreement with your wife!).

His leader, as he so rightly said, is the electorate and he is behaving honourably towards them. The adherence to party loyalty despite what is best for the national interest is precisely how we got into the present sorry mess. Politics in the UK has reached the bottom of the barrel and we have to look to people like Carswell to start putting things right before the country descends into civil strife instead. Parliament has lost sight of its purpose and is now stuffed full of self-interested morons who are only interested in the next sound bite and maximising their own career chances. Douglas Carswell’s defection to Ukip is a seismic shock to the British political system

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/peteroborne/100284247/douglas-carswells-defection-is-a-seismic-shock-to-the-british-political-system/

There are very few MPs I admire more than Douglas Carswell. He is principled, decent, and has gone into politics for all the right reasons. He believes in all the things to which ordinary politicians pay lip service, but in reality frighten them to death. Above all, Mr Carswell is an advocate of popular democracy: that is, that politics is an activity which concerns ordinary voters and not the views of the Westminster elite. He is a fountain of original ideas, many of which are to be found in his very important book “The Plan: Twelve months to renew Britain”. It is very interesting to note that the book was co-written with the brilliant conservative MEP (and fellow Telegraph blogger) Daniel Hannan.

This is why I believe that Mr Carswell’s decision to quit the Tory party and join Nigel Farage’s Ukip is a seismic political event. He cannot be compared to the ordinary self-interested political defections, for instance Shaun Woodward or Quentin Davies’ departure from the Conservatives to New Labour, in 2001 and 2007 respectively. Mr Carswell, and this is completely terrifying for David Cameron, is acting out of conviction rather than self-interest. It is greatly to the credit of Mr Carswell that, in striking contrast to Woodward or Davies, he has called a by-election to fight his Essex constituency, where he may even stand a chance of success. If he wins, he will have broken every known rule of politics. It has always been assumed that the individual vote which an incumbent MP can attract is a fraction of that commanded by the party which he represents. If Mr Carswell carries Clacton, a political convulsion will have taken place.

David Cameron Is A Cunt says:

If the people of Clacton want a strong conservative voice, as opposed to a strong Conservative voice, then they’d better vote for Carswell. Cameron’s idea of a Conservative is certainly not anyone actually conservative in their views.

The Millipede shows once again how little political nous he has if he thinks that the Tories are too right wing, it is that they are too left wing that is their problem and the reason why they, suicidally, allowed the political space for UKIP to thrive and grow.

So ultimately both main party leaders are, yet again, made to look like the social democratic, common purpose, wankers that they are by Carswell and UKIP.

    Shut Down Sharia says:

I wonder how many of the 500,000 foreign migrants to this country are followers of Sharia law in varying degrees?

[Don't be fooled by references to French, German, Dutch and Italian migrants - many will be Sharia followers rather than the sort of bascially secular people we think of when we hear those countries' names.]

My guess would be something like 150,000 to 200,000 – which will end up being more like 450,000 to 600,000 within ten years, given the higher than average birth rate and the fact that most of these migrants are in the child-begetting age range and many will marry people from abroad.

In other words this government has done and is doing nothing to prevent a fundamental change in the cultural make-up of this country, one that will be irreversible and will have dire consequences.

governments all over in conjunction with their intelligence agencies are no doubt behind closed doors blaming their counterparts in other countries rather than accept the fact the great unwashed, that insignificant multitude that dwarfs them in terms of numbers, are waking up and realizing politicians, banking, wars, tax, laws, religions- are a all a big pile of deceptive shit designed and maintained to keep a relatively few people swarming in luxury whilst every other fucker on the planet spends most of their life toiling solely for that elite. oh go on, call me a commie or a this or a that, you know perpetuate the divide and conquer because that is how the bastards at the top maintain their position- splitting people into groups and getting them at each others throats.

numerous websites allow their users to vote on just about any topic you can imagine. yet when it comes to the system of governing, we get one vote every five years. a mere one vote to hand control of our lives to some fucker who without a shadow of a doubt will no doubt go on to prove they’ll do the exact opposite of what they promised when they were punting about trying to get themselves elected.

you want to know what hell is like? this is it, we are living in it. but not for much longer. because we are going to have you bastards who have perpetuated this shit. we are going to smash you into innumerable pieces. and it will happen all over the world. in some places it is happening already. when it happens here that will be the spark that ignites true global evolution and finally there will be heaven/paradise/nirvana on earth. we have pictures and videos. remember. the world shall see them. soon.

You’re quite right that direct democracy is the way forward. There will need to be checks and balances as with all systems of government, but that is the only sane route we can take. UKIP are probably the most pro-direct party in the UK.

In 2001 Carswell was Tory candidate for Sedgefield. He did a very pleasant photo shoot & story for the Torygraph with the Labour candidate for neighbouring Richmond, Fay Tinnion – adjacent constituencies for the then two party leaders. Now Carswell has defected while Fay, a supporter of E Miliband, was stitched up & the members prevented from voting for her as a European candidate. That’s politics, of course.

Farage and Carswell are now more interested in becoming a main stream party than sorting out Europe- and will attack BOO / Euro sceptic Tory MP’s first . They would rather see a pro Europe Lanour government and smash the economy in order to promote their long term self interest.
