Clegg Spins His Own Rennard Failings

The restoration of Lord Rennard’s LibDem membership card, and neutering of Nick Clegg, as gone down like a cup of cold sick with almost everybody except the pervy peer’s mates. The Deputy PM and LibDem leader – in office but out of power – is left to bleating about long hard looks in the mirror.

Clegg outrider Sean Kemp spins to the Times RedBox:

“The Lib Dems’ absurdly complex disciplinary system has meant the only person being punished for the Rennard affair is Nick Clegg. The party’s leader was left unable to take charge of the issue, even while it badly damaged his party’s reputation. That system has now been changed, but that will do nothing for the people who wanted to see the party take tougher action.”

Clegg could have ‘taken charge of the issue’ when the allegations first surfaced internally before the last election. Or when he was told about them in 2010. Instead, like with Mike Hancock, he chose to ignore the problem and hoped it would go away.

Guido has zero sympathy.

If the RPC just met to consider Rennard, why did they not also consider Hancock? The Lib Dem press office told me that the RPC was about to consider Hancock’s case, since he has now admitted most of the things alleged in the civil lawsuit, made a financial settlement, and made a grovelling apology.

8 weeks on from that, the Lib Dems have still taken no action to restart the disciplinary process they suspended while the civil case was ongoing. 8 weeks.

When will the disciplinary process be restarted against Hancock?

There will be no disciplinary hearing against me by the Liberal Democrats for two reasons.
      1. I have powerful protection from the Brotherhood. and
      2. My boys are the second highest political donors to the Liberal Democrat Party

      https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/audit_trail_of_political_donatio#outgoing-89761

I brought the asylum seekers in to Portsmouth for Labour (26.1% of all those allocated to the south of England), I fixed up the planning permissions for my boys to house them (by law they cannot be housed in social housing); my boys laundered their dirty money building flats for them, hey presto. As you have already said, they looked at your case twice, the second time after the Pascoe report had been leaked and they decided not to take any action, so your logic that you must be innocent is clear to the Party.

Handycock and immigration in Portsmouth shows what is really going on in this country with open door immigration. Unscrupulous politicians particularly Liberal Democrat MPs have been encouraging immigrants into their constituencies for votes, money, backhanders and political donations. It is Liberal Democrat stated policy that their should be no restrictions on immigration in to this country. One added dimension in Portsmouth is the involvement of organised crime. Handy was Head of planning for decades in the city which has been run since the 1980’s by big time drug dealers who have always laundered their drug profits through property development. What better situation then for Handy to bring in the asylum seekers, provide the planning permissions for the drug dealers to launder their profits by building blocks of flats for the asylum seekers. The criminals launder their drug profits, make millions in profits, Handy gets backhanders, his villa in Spain which I believe he put in his daughter’s name, and the Liberal Democrat Party gets huge political donations as a result. Is it any wonder that no one, particularly Clegg, was willing to investigate Handy when serious sexual allegations were made against him. As to the Portsmouth police? Look no further than the Libertine Lodge that meets in the Portsmouth Civic Offices, Handy is the Worshipful Grand Master, his fellow male LibDem Councillors are either members or apprentice members, so are senior council officers, senior police officers and the drug dealers. This is what corrupt politics have become in this country, it is time for change.

The Lib-Dems are the definition of the party where being a(rich) member means never having to say you’re sorry. It’s almost refreshing that they don’t throw their people to the wolves as a knee-jerk reaction. Almost, but not quite.

Well I suppose the Lib Dems are thinking, ‘At least they were adults’. Meanwhile, is there anyone who hasn’t worked in a place where there’s a vile slug like Rennard?

      Vise Gull says:

This has been blown out of all proportion – all the women involved had their own agenda and why shouldn’t they. Politics is an ‘adult’ world after all – a world very much connected with power and ambition. You will always find that adults do adult things including making passes. A canny lass can well turn such incidents to their advantage without resort to the casting couch. Instead, they continue to bleat shock horror over what amounted to a cursory fumble of sorts. To call Rennard a ‘vile slug’ is way over the top. If on the other hand he had beheaded the women and shown a video of the same to the world I think ‘vile slug’ would be entirely appropriate.

Here’s a lunchtime test. See how long you can watch this slug before you have to throw up:

David Cameron drug policy reformer and leadership contender in 2005…

“Politicians attempt to appeal to the lowest common denominator by posturing with tough policies and calling for crackdown after crackdown. Drugs policy has been failing for decades.”

“Digger” Murdoch says:

Is it just me, or is Nigel Farage just a top hat and a monocle away from being a Batman villain?
