Farage Confirms It’s South Thanet

UKIP royally screwed up the announcement of where Nigel Farage is going to stand at the general election, so it’s not really a surprise that no one seems to have noticed Farage has today confirmed it will be in South Thanet. The UKIP leader has for the first time admitted what we all suspected at the bottom of his column on the Indy’s website today:

“My phone was rather busy the other day when one of the members of Ukip’s Thanet South branch decided to tell a newspaper that I was standing in that constituency in 2015. The situation is that there will be a hustings in the constituency the week after next at which the branch will decide who they wish to represent them.

I have thrown my hat in the ring, but so have others, including a top-class barrister and friend of mine. It may seem silly to some that the leader of a party would have to go through the process of being approved and selected but, I assure you, rank means nothing in Ukip.

Just as I applied to stand again as a Ukip MEP and went through the same assessment as other candidates and faced the vote of the membership with everyone else, I believe that the power to select the person they will be pounding the streets in all weathers for lies with the members of the branch themselves.

Of course I think I stand a good chance of winning. I have fought the seat before and it is in my home county of Kent and an area I have represented in the European Parliament since 1999. But with Ukip members, nothing is ever for certain. And that’s just fine by me.”

The Tory candidate is former UKIP leader Craig Mackinlay

that is not the issue – if they’re working, living a decent life, looking after their own and not annoying their neighbours then there is no problem . How many of them are living off the state and causing problems in our schools , to our police and with their neighbours? It is those who should be sent home.

Errr, if they are working, most likely on low wages, paying no tax, and actually receiving in work benefits such as tax credits and housing benefit, child benefit.

Average family needs to earn over £28k pa to be a net contributer to the UK.

It is a fact and known, that Romanians and Bulgarians have double the number of children in the UK than in their own country (high benefits..). So they are not the “average” UK family.

Thus, your average Romanian or Bulgarian family would need to be earning well over £28k in order to be paying into the UK plc pot, more than they take out…

Numerous articles this week to take your pick from, about wage growth being non existants and GDP per capita being down..

How likley is it that your average Romainian or Bulgarian family is making a net contribution to the UK plc ?

Its a never ending circle of doom and a race to the bottom. Higher taxs to pay for low wage immigration and lower GDP per capita – not smart, not sustainable.

Vote LibLabCon for more of the same and higher taxs.

Do we need more foreign workers to carry out the jobs that Brits can’t or won’t do? From April to June this year 25 per cent more Romanian and Bulgarian workers came to the UK than in the same period last year.

We know that unless we leave the EU, we cannot limit the number of Europeans coming to work in Britain. David Cameron says he wants to stop benefit tourism, but seems happy enough to welcome “hard-working”migrants coming to the UK to get jobs. Labour and Liberal Democrat politicians take much the same line: if the people coming to our shores want to work hard and get on, we should welcome them.

But at what cost? Making indignant noises about the relatively small number of work-shy, benefit-sponging immigrants just distracts attention from the fact that most “hard-working” immigrants are also entitled to wage top-ups, child tax credits and child benefit. As the think-tank Migration Watch has pointed out, the “contribution” of foreign workers to the UK economy may not be as positive as politicians like to imply – even before we consider the extra burden on schools, hospitals and social services.

For example, a single man with no children earning the minimum wage has his pay of £184 a week raised to £254 by tax credits and housing benefits. If he has a wife and two children, this is boosted to £543, so that welfare payments make up 66 per cent of his £28,241 annual income.

The UK currently spends around £30 billion a year on tax credits. According to the government’s Migration Advisory Committee, £5 billion of that is paid to foreign nationals.

Leaving the EU would at least give us the opportunity to control the inflow of foreign workers, limiting permission to those who fill a genuine skills gap and whose wages would not need topping up. It’s crazy to pull in huge numbers of foreign nationals to carry out low-skilled, heavily subsidised work.

Of course the scandal of subsidised wages is not restricted to migrant workers; it’s also the flip side of this week’s record employment figures. We may have fewer people out of work, but that doesn’t mean we are shrinking the welfare state: the cost of tax credits and housing benefits continues to rise. As Labour’sRachel Reeves pointed out this week, nearly a million British workers are now claiming housing benefit, a figure that is projected to reach 1.23 million by 2019, costing £10.8 billion a year.

Nowadays, having a job doesn’t mean an end to dependency. Far from it. In fact, it means that millions of families take home more in benefits than in wages. Add to this the perpetual dependency of a migrant workforce and it’s not hard to see why the UK continues to sink under the weight of its benefits bill.

Boot out the Conservative Led Coalition in 2015 says:

The other major story is the eurozone shuddering to a halt with GDP flatlining and fears of a prolonged period of deflation, that may bode bad for the UK recovery. The Sun focuses on the issue of pay in the UK with a detailed outline of how pay is failing to match the rise in GDP, interestingly it notes that the UK has added 423,000 jobs that pay above average earnings, but that is contrasted with 646,000 jobs that pay below average earnings. The Express also notes that two thirds of Britain’s workers are now working past their retirement date, and the Guardian outlines how the working poor are forced to spend half their income on housing. It’s left to Jeremy Warner in the Telegraph to outline that wage rises will be back, but on the evidence so far there is no real chance of Britain getting a pay rise. Even the Sun has a solution, and it is not just reducing immigration (the Mail notes there are now one million eastern European workers in the UK) but stricter regulation, arguing that the minimum wage could be raised. That could be neatly summed up in the following line: Britain needs more jobs, homes, health and hope, and talking of health it is now just one day to go to the People’s March for the NHS, a 300 mile trek from Jarrow to London to help save our NHS and reverse the rising tide of marketization and privatisation, the front page of the Indie and the Guardian highlight how compensation for a private provider’s botched operations will have to be paid out of NHS funds, if ever there was a time to fight for the NHS it is now, find out more from: http://999callfornhs.org.uk/…

    Interesting piece by B’loodworth:

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/08/15/putin-s-useful-british-idiots.html

However by emphasizing that P’utin is no H’itler he perhaps is exposing himself as one of the Useful Idiots he berates. (Read history more…)

        Winston says:

Blair, Campbell and the rets of New Labour and their clones amongst the Tories share the blame. They invaded Iraq on lies, broke up Libya to Islamist nutters, wanted to bomb Syria to let in the Islamists and have sponsored these people to undermine regimes that don’t follow their policies.

Now we see the consequences. Islamists running riot and murdering children and a Western public that does not trust its leaders or the media.

This is why the Police collude with the political elite of LibLabCon to manipulate the media. Headline news at the moment: Cliff Richard may have touchedup a boy 30yrs ago.

Vote UKIP for change and common sense.

Sadly the truth is that western imposed post-WW1 boundaries on the Middle East is slowly unravelling – Iraq, Syria, Libya, Palestine etc are breaking up into factions that existed pre-1918 and are most likely to end up with new boundaries and continuing conflict. Western Leaders are going to have to accept, after the arrogance of the bliar/bush failed war debacle, that the West can no longer impose western solutions on the East.

How are obama and cameron to blame for this? Unless of course you are the war crazed bliar and think we should go to war again. Another war will not solve the problems of the collapsing boundaries of the post WW1 western settlement imposed on the Middle East. There are fundamental changes happening out there and it needs a wider perspective from the western world to work out a way forward.

And that’s why I’m a UKIP member. There’s none of this ‘parachuted-in’ malarkey that the LibLabCon’s thrive on. It’s just a plain, simple and honest choice. Local candidates carry weight with local members. It would be nice for ‘our Nige’ to actually lose against the local candidate, as it would actually prove the mettle of our party. We’re not into ‘Party above People’ politics, we’re about ‘People above Party’ politics. That’s what defines us. Best of luck to ‘our Nige’ and the other candidate, I’m sure the local party will vote with their heads.

UUhh!!! ” There’s none of this ‘parachuted-in’ malarkey that the LibLabCon’s thrive on” What??? Majority of Labour candidates are from the constituency they are set to fight. Check it out. Same with lib dem and tory.
UKIP been around for over twenty years. While Labour were supposedly letting in all comers, where was UKIP to oppose? They are just political opportunists. Cant get their own way in the tory party so fall in under a UKIP banner. Still Tories. Cut public spending and remove employment rights. Maternity rights are a cost. Read what farage has said. Man will tall you what ever you want to hear.
Political opportunist of the very worse kind.

The BRICS leaders should be in talks with Erdogan of Turkey with a view to allowing Turkey to join the BRICS trade/financial and military pact.

The same goes for Iran and the Commonwealth countries.

Eventually the whole world should get together and isolate the most dangerous, warmongering rogue state on the planet, The USA.

After one months grace, to allow all yanks abroad to get their affairs sorted and decide whether to return home or apply for asylum, all trade and travel between the US and the rest of the world should be ended.

Mexico and Canada should close their borders with the US.

Send the US to economic Coventry :-)
