Beeb Cliff Spin Mystery

Earlier today, the BBC’s “head of newsgathering” sought to counter speculation about how the Beeb managed to get camera crews down to Cliff Richard’s apartment in time to film the police walking in:

This afternoon, South Yorkshire Police released this statement:

“When a media outlet contacted SYP with information about an investigation, we took the decision to work with them in order to protect the integrity of that investigation.

“Since the search took place a number of people have contacted the police to provide information and we must acknowledge that the media played a part in that, for which we are grateful.”

‘Ello, ‘ello, ‘ello, what’s all this then?

What happened to Cameron’s inquiry into ALL the nonces in Parliament? It all seems to have gone rather quiet, my guess would be the secret services are busy having any victims sectioned while the thick as pigshit public get all mouth foamy about the next big distraction. Nothing will happen to Cliff, he’s too well connected, just like how Ken Barlow got off. That fucker is guilty as sin and a right evil bastard.

Looking at reducing in work benefits might be a better solution. The tax payer is subsidising employers and sheltering them from the need to innovate and improve productivity as their cost of production is kept artificially low.

          Fake Recovery says:

The best policy would be to introduce a substantial citizens benefit that has to be earned through work over say five years. That would mean that our citizens could compete with new immigrants from the EU in terms of wages as they would not be eligible for such benefits (it would be even better to leave the EU of course).

To some extent the citizens benefit could be paid for through a reduction in tax allowances at the lower end.

Likewise housing benefit should have to be worked for.

I have, however, no idea of the relevance of such a snippet as that would have to a search of the multi-roomed mansion owned by Mr Cliff Richard as a result of a complaint by someone who Mr Richard may well deny has ever been in the place. Oh no.

What evidential value is a search of a property 30 years after an alleged offence…it seems this was not even the property where such alleged offence occurred. Both statements are correct. The original information that gave the BBC the story obviously did not come from the police. Undoubtedly the BBC went to the police with what they had been given and a deal was struck in that they would not run the story; but would be told when CR`s flat was to be raided. As a consequence of all the media coverage it would appear more potential victims may have come forward. If Yorkshire Police had only one complaint that would a been a non runner. Now with the potential to dig deeper they may have enough to proceed to court. time will tell. It will be interesting to see if Cliff comes back to the UK where he would obviously be arrested and given bail conditions preventing him for leaving the UK until all of this is over. I bet his legal team is working 24/7 on this one.

The CPS have admitted that they go trawling for ‘victims’ because, with enough ‘victims’ on the charge sheet a jury would be influenced to bring in a guilty verdict. At the same time, any previous convictions must be kept from juries because it may influence juries to bring in a guilty verdict.
This stinks, as does the fact that police seem to be carrying out searches not for specific items but as a general search in the hopes they might find something – anything that they might perhaps use against the person concerned. The police are not supposed to do that.

    Something rather formulaic about this.

Raid a property for no clear purpose. Have the media present. If the subject is rich enough, remarkable things happen to other people’s memories. Once there are around ten such potential ‘victims’, a case can be brought on strength of numbers.

Uncorroborated evidence from those who were infants at the alleged time will trump any other evidence, even if it is shown to be mistaken. Yet it is likely to be taken as constituting proof beyond reasonable doubt. Presumption of innocence is forgotten.

A financial windfall awaits anyone who puts in a claim. There is no downside to this ‘so as not to discourage victims’.

One does not have to take sides in this issue (none of us know anyway!) to see that the potential for mistake is huge.

Yet the formula is working and being peddled by the police for all it is worth.

When the entire male population of the UK is imprisoned, then no doubt they can start on the women.

I would hazard a guess that there will be at least one person found guilty, in the current crop, where overwhelming exculpatory evidence will subsequently be found, as occurred with the Birmingham Six, to show their trial was a travesty of justice.

Meanwhile the aiders and abettors of Jimmy Savile are left untouched. Those who used our money to act as a procurement agency for him. What an almighty scandal and abject stain on our national reputation!

          • Understand your perfectly valid point but would suggest it worked both ways:

            * BBC owned the premises.
            * BBC collected invitations from the youngsters wanting to be on the show.
            * BBC allocated tickets.
            * BBC knew about what happened before and after these events.
            * BBC colluded with Savile as he (ostensibly) brought along ratings.

            Then your point applies:

            * He was an enabler for others

Here, pooling our points, is a prima facie case against literally dozens of BBC staff at every level from DG downwards.

Where are the interviews? Where are the police searches? Where are the arrests? Where are the trials? Where, for that matter, is the media?

A complete blank. If ever there were grounds for suspicion of complacency, at best, or collusion, at worst, here it is.

And the British police, “the world’s finest”, have done absolutely bugger all.

I was concerned that, with my above post, I would be attacked for supporting the insupportable. I am grateful that this has not happened – yet.

However it seemed that, the way justice has been pursued in the last decade or so, it would almost be regarded as a crime for me to vent my opinion.

Now, the DT has come out with this by Matthew Norman: http://tinyurl.com/l8sroux , timed some two hours after my piece.

Good for him, and the paper. I hope we get to the truth of the situation, whatever it may be, and not some kangaroo court justice which I fear will have been the reality in some, but not all, cases.

Beyond reasonable doubt is what is required in a criminal court. Balance of probabilities in a civil court. We know they often get this wrong, whether or not a jury is involved.

That should not stop the whole process. But neither should it be regarded as the last word.

Well you can take off 0.5% for immigration per annum and then a lot of the rest of the “growth” is explained by oligarchs ferreting away their ill gotten gains here, which does little to enrich the general population.

there will clearly be confusion as the householder has an aerial able to be easily plugged into the TV so the suspicion is that he sometimes plugs it in which would be illegal. In my example I have severed the cable so there can be no doubt.

How difficult would it be to ask accusers and accused to submit to voluntary MRi interrogation? Since allegedly, answers retrieved from memory activate small segments of the brain. Whilst the invention and associated error-checking of tales, initiates massive computational activity.

In order to obtain a search warrant the Police have to convince a magistrate or Judge that they have reasonable cause to suspect that A) a crime has been committed and B) that there is a realistic chance that evidence relating to that crime may be found at the location they propose to search. With this in mind it is difficult to concieve that notwithstanding part A) evidence of a crime such as that alleged could be found 30 years later. Thus the Police must have either more information than what is reported or else they are simply on a fishing expedition which should never have been sanctioned by the courts and which sets a worrying trend. For example was there anything of evidential value found when searching Rolf Harris’s home? Was any of this presented as evidence in hs subsequent court case ?

Mycroft says:

Have you read the last bit of Animal Farm?

You know where the animals are looking through the Farmhouse window?

My TV screen was that window at lunch-time today.

Be careful, the sudden self-congratulatory tone, the slightly pudgy outline of indulgence and you become exactly what you should despise.

The jolly face of the Quisling Cameron poses for your camera has mesmerised and deceived you, you who were once not so deceived.

You were no firebrand, you were a damp squib in my opinion, sorry.

You need a damned good kick up the ahse!
