Warsi Speaks – Warns of Consequences

Warsi has spoken on camera finally:

“Over the last four weeks I have done everything I can both at formal and informal meetings to try to convince my colleagues that our current policy on Gaza is morally indefensible that it is not in our interests not in British interests and that it will have consequences for us both internationally and here at home. But in the end I felt the governments position wasn’t moving and therefore I had to on a point of principle resign.”

Cathy Newman has the sit down interview at 7…

Meaning what? Because we’re not flying the Palestinian flag and screaming “Death to Israel”, some bearded nutjob from Warsi’s community will be blowing something up shortly?

After all, Hamas thugs shot 38 Gazans last week who dared to complain about the sh*t Hamas got them into.

If 63% of Gazans hate Hamas (Palestinian poll) why should we embrace them??

Here’s me thinking that being a member of either House required an honest and morally upstanding person, who had the interest of the whole of the British People at heart, first and foremost.

BBC can’t report on ISIS as they will end up being kidnapped or worse. You may remember the kidnapping of the BBC’s Alan Johnston in Gaza?

Journalism is very careful about criticism of the I’slamic world and it’s politics for reasons of self preservation. Getting kidnapped or killed or even worse, having your agency black listed is bad for business.

During the recent conflict in Gaza several journalists wrote things on twitter that Hamas didn’t like. This led to black listings and retractions and questions about integrity.

          • Freedom is Precious says:

            Very true Norm

Vile hate campaigns are spreading through the social media attacking journalists who tell the truth or escaped their threatening Hamas or Jihad minders briefly and who unlike Bowen or Snow were not “on message”. Their addresses are being circulated online to their Lefty or Islamic criminal friends in Europe.

Similar hate campaigns are currently being levelled by the adherents of the Religion of Peace at Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc for not supporting the Hamas criminal thugs.

It all begs the question, when it’s our turn…..what will all these lunatics do to us?

          • Violent Asquith says:

They fight and kill each other, so they won’t have a problem killing us. As yet, they lack the numbers for open violence but there is an undeclared war going on in the UK, if Government reports of the numbers of foiled muslim plots are to be believed.
The only bright side is that the liberal bumlickers on the Independent and Guardian, including the sick-making Alibhai Brownstuff, will eventually get slotted along with the rest.

I don’t see ISIS pottering about in the depths of Texas or Kensington High street replete with weaponry saying Allah is Great!

Which view of the world can you have when you support Unfailed States ( what the hell does that mean? ) invading Failed States ( failed on what basis?) attempting to plant ‘ Democracy ‘ on the said failed states .

Quite simply Democracies exist only on bribes to the masses and if you can’t ( or won’t ) come up with the bribe money then it’s a surefire loser.

Libya, Iraq, Egypt, Afghanistan and even Ukraine are all in that Economic position. The so called Non Failing ( i.e . Capitalist States) have failed big style. Why? Because they won’ t pay or can’t pay the bribes any longer. Because they are ‘ failing ‘ too.

            Simple as that.

          • Nothing new here then, says:

Or more unbalanced. Not a single query or reference to Hamas, and their role and history, from either of them. (I refer to content only, not political views).

Look, it’s bloody unfair everyone picking on Dave and Gideon.

Even though it is admittedly slightly outside his normal remite, Gideon is fully entitled to talk about morals as well as economics.

Not only did he study morals for a portion of a term during his PPE degree, he also studied economics for six months, so not only is he entitled, he is qualified too!

And it is not Dave’s fault that Hamas keep firing rockets into Israel, it has nothing to do with him being a racist and blocking the Palestians attempts to have the UN accept the state of Palestine.

The occupation of Palestine is nothing like the British occupation of Ireland which led to the IRA firing mortars into the cabinet office of Downing Street, they are completely different incomparable situations.

Just as internment was not a recruiting sergeant for the IRA which increased its membership by thousands, the slaughtering of Palestinian children is not going to cause a boost in the membership of Hamas, and therefore the Israeli war crimes are not utterly self defeating.

The very idea that she thought she was in line to be Foreign Secretary gave me the biggest political bellylaugh I’ve had in a long time.

That’s what happens when those who are promoted because of the boxes they tick – rather than what they can do – believe that their advancement must be due only to their personal ability. She’s actually done Dave a real favour because she was nothing more than the spare prick at the Cabinet party.

Will he avoid making a similar mistake again? Of course not.

As an aside, it’s time the entire press corps and the body politic realised that the vast majority of people in the UK don’t care that much about the Middle East and that we certainly don’t need daily blow-by-blow accounts of events there never mind debates, demos and the rest of it.

There’s no shortage of things in this country that politicians badly need to sort (and that the press seriously needs to scrutinize) without obsessing on the troubles of others who are thousands of miles away.

I haven’t been looking ta them so what does the Baroness’s name conjour up?

    • 46
      Neil Down says:

      How modern web advertising works:

The ads are served by companies called advertising exchanges. The ad exchange recognises you from the cookies it’s already placed on your computer and used to track your internet browsing. When you start to load up a web page that includes ad space owned by an ad exchange, it sends out a profile of your browsing history to various different advertising agencies. The agencies then decide whether you are valuable to one of their clients and they bid against each other in an auction for the right to place their ad. For example, if you look at a lot of car sites, you might be valuable to Volkswagen, or if you like music you might be valuable to Sony. The ad exchange then serves up the winning ad from the company that found you most valuable. This all happens in the time it takes the page to load.

Now what has happened here is the ad exchange has told the agencies that you like to look at lingerie websites and an advertising agency representing a lingerie company had won the auction to serve its ads to you. Which makes you a filthy little beast. And probably a House Of Commons IP address.

The Establishment is infested with Nonces says:

The fact that Israel has dropped nigh on 4000 missiles on this highly densely populated region, and only killed 1,800 people (in spite of Hamas herding women and children into or onto known targets), proves that Israel is not targeting civilians as most missiles do not kill anyone.

If Israel was wanting to kill large numbers of civilians in such a densely populated location, the death toll would now be much closer to 18,000, not only 1,800.

Killing 0.1% of a population cannot be called genocide in any meaningful use of the term, and the way those palestinian people breed, ostensibly to produce more young explosive delivery devices for Hamas, that 1,800 will be replaced in no time.

The fact that the BBC are now able to report splits in the coalition and the government being out of touch, is a direct reflection on the complete failure of the BBC to accurately and honestly and impartially report what is actually happening in Gaza. the BBC are siding with Hamas and willingly reporting Hamas propaganda, and censoring any news of the attrocities Hamas are committing themselves. No news of the Palestinians that Hamas have killed for refusing to be human shields. No pictures of the brigades of child soldiers in their uniforms carrying guns. No news of children strapped with explosives and sent to run to IDF soldiers for help, and then blowing themselves up when coming face to face with said IDF soldiers. The Western journalists are, to be fair, under threat of death themselves if they do report the truth. Some journalists have admitted (in private) to other journalists that if they report the truth, they will be killed. If they wait until they are out of Gaza then report the truth, then they are blacklisted and will be killed if they return, and their home address is passed on to Hamas supporters near where they live.

The BBC should be braver than that.

      • 206

A very good evening to you sir, as well! I have long noticed your moniker and have wondered covertly if it masks another identity which I might know.

Marcher territory has its moments. Shrewsbury is a wonderful place name to argue over its pronunciation. Rowley’s House is only one of many wonderful buildings. Stokesay Castle is unbelievably enchanting. I stayed there once, even though I should not have done. The Feathers at Ludlow, well, when I find the right lass, I will book a four-poster there. But I am still young…

The Slopshire Star, well I just had to gasp at the hyperbole!

          Ippikin says:

Sadly, I doubt it. I stay very much in the shadows not far from the Abbey; having found myself in the county by accident far too many years ago.
Coming from the South I was recently amazed to find I am a direct descendant of Nicholas de Sandford, through of all people, my American Mother. Seems the old boy’s relative went over shortly after the Pilgrim Fathers.
I agree, Rowley’s House is a very fine building (both bits), but recent reports from the ‘Slopshire’ report the possibility of it becoming part of an intended ShrEWsbury University, yet to be established but nonetheless a gleam in the parochial eye. I shudder at the thought!
Stokesey is excellent too, the great hall and above are best, but I confess that as a habituee of Bruges, the panelling at Stokesay does nothing for me.
Sir, I do have the advantage of you, having done the deed at the Feathers already.

          • You, Sir, are both a gentleman and a philosopher. I can tell that from your last sentence alone.

I side with you on the pronunciation issue too, although I have scrapped with many academics over this, some actually from the area.

As for Nicholas de Sandford, he had three issue and if you do the math, you will discover that it is, at least, technically possible that everyone who posts here has a fighting chance of being his descendent, given the 24 generational elapse! Not wishing to detract in any way, it is certainly good when you can demonstrate the fact for sure.

My over-geeky records advise me I last visited the Abbey on 28 June 1988.

Bruges is a totally different city, much more polite to Stokesay’s vernacular. I have made my acquaintance there with JvE’s The Madonna with Canon van der Paele.

When I do reach the Feathers objective, I realise that I won’t be the first. But for even a short while, I shall be the latest…

Look at the brave promises of all three main political parties about letting Scotland raise its own taxes if we are good little boys and girls and vote to stay in the Union .

The promises hardly hold water and all envisage considerable control being flexed in Westminster as has always been the case.

No one knows what the future holds so scare stories about future disasters and train crashes should be ignored. Life is all about the unexpected and having to cope and making the best of your opportunities.

The real issue is do the Scots want to continue along the lines of the last fetlock touching 400 years or do they want autonomy to create change and fresh structures which may possibly benefit future generations.

Independence should not be judged one, two or three years down the line. The time to take stock will be 50/60 years ahead when the majority of those allowed to vote will be dead.

As far as I can make out this woman never bought into Dave’s vision but was happy to stay on the inside listening to the debate and plans.

The world’s media have asked me for an opinion about children being blown up on beaches and I see a lot of that here in Portugal. Their parents really should not give them all that money for so many icecreams.

More importantly, do you think Gideon’s way of hiding his hair loss is better than mine? I could hide mine forever if I switched faiths and wore a yarmulke. Smanatha says no one would notice.

    How dare you, Guido!

Have you not noticed our anti-Israel coverage, and especially dumb blonde Louise not so Mensch, recently?

Warsi is a principled woman and is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in (ie taking sides based on race or religion instead of facts)

Keep this up and she will take your place on Sundays. She’s far more qualified to blow up Parliament.

    Dear Prime Minister

For some weeks, in meeting and discussion, I have been open and honest about my views on the conflict in Gaza and our response to it.

My view has been that our policy in relation to the Middle East Peace Process generally but more recently our approach and language during the current crisis in Gaza is morally indefensible, is not in Britain’s national interest and will have a long term detrimental impact on our reputation internationally and domestically.

Particularly as the Minister with responsibility for the United Nations, The International Criminal Court and Human Rights I believe our approach in relation to the current conflict is neither consistent with our values, specifically our commitment to the rule of law and our long history of support for International Justice. In many ways the absence of the experience and expertise of colleagues like Ken Clarke and Dominic Grieve has over the last few weeks become very apparent.

This decision has not been easy. It has been a privilege to serve for 3 years in your Shadow Cabinet and over 4 years in your Cabinet. Introducing you in Blackpool in 2005 as you made your bid for leadership I had the pleasure of being there at the start of the journey and it would have been rewarding to have been there til the end.

The last decade has given me the opportunity to work with some of the best in the Conservative Party and indeed in Government. William Hague was probably one of the finest Foreign Secretaries this country has seen and has been inspirational. He dismantled foreign policy making by sofa government and restored decision making and dignity to the Foreign Office. There is however great unease across the Foreign Office, amongst both Minister and senior officials, in the way recent decisions are being made.

Eric Pickles has supported me tirelessly in our work on combating hate crime. Challenging anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia and the pioneering work of celebration faith in the public sphere. This new found confidence in Government has allowed me to take the very public International lead on religious freedom, specifically on the ever growing crisis of the persecution of Christians. However, early evidence from the Home Office and others shows that the fallout of the current conflict and the potential for the crisis in Gaza and our response to it becoming a basis for radicalisation could have consequences for us for years to come.

From both Eric and William I learnt the art of reconciling passion and idealism with pragmatism and realism, but I always said that long after life in politics I must be able to live with myself for the decisions I took or the decisions I supported. By staying in Government at this time I do not feel I can be sure of that.

It is therefore with regret that I am writing to resign.

You will continue to have my personal support as leader of the Conservative party as you continue to ensure that our Party evolves to meet the challenges we face in Britain today and ensure that the Party is relevant and responsive to all communities that make up today’s Britain.

    Yours sincerely
