Labour Whip Accuses British Journalist of “Killing Children”

Mr Foot meet Mr Mouth. Labour Whip Graham Jones has taken to Twitter to accuse a journalist of “killing children”:

“You’re”

Guido hears Justin Cohen, the news editor over at Jewish News, has an alibi though – on account of being a British born UK citizen, living in London.

Cohen tells Guido:

“It’s another lazy comparison between Jews and Israelis from someone who should know better”

You have to wonder what Graham’s party leader makes of the comparison?

UPDATE: Graham Jones grovels:

“I unreservedly apologise to Justin Cohen. I have now deleted the tweet.”

The Israeli border with Gaza became locked down several months after withdrawal, after Hamas began operations. It has yet to be opened fully, but then Hamas has yet to stop operations. Nonetheless, Israel sends in certain goods. In the last few weeks, hundreds of tons of food, medical supplies and fuel have been sent in. Little of this reaches the Gazan in the street however, although Hamas operatives appear to be quite comfortable.

The Egyptian border is a matter for Egypt and Hamas, although few seem to object that Egypt keeps it significantly locked down, and doesn’t allow the same degree of goods through as Israel.

      Only because:
Fact: Israel spends money on protection for its civilians; and
Fact: Hamas locates military assets in and amongst civilian locations.

You are essentially rewarding Hamas for being a bunch of dicks and violating several rules of war.

“FACT: Schmucks whine about Israel’s right to defend itself but NEVER mention the Palestinians right to defend themselves. They are the ones under occupation, under attack and driven into concentration camps from their lands by the millions!”

Fact: Israel doesn’t attack unless hit first or there is evidence it is about to.
Fact: Gaza certainly isn’t under occupation and while the border with Israel is understandably closed, it also shares a border with Egypt.
Fact: The West Bank may arguably be considered under occupation, depending on your definition of the word, but neither side appears willing to take the steps nbecessary to end it.
Fact: There are no concentration camps in Gaza, The West Bank or Israel.

There was a big punch-up in Paris over the weekend, lots of “Palestinians” parading and trying to burn down synagogues. They will probably learn quite quickly that the French take a pretty firm line on this sort of behaviour (no doubt resulting in yet more of them rushing to live here).

The day Israel was set up, by the United Nations, it was invaded by Egypt. But for a last-ditch tank battle near Ashkelon, it would have been destroyed at once. Its neighbours have been hell-bent on destroying it ever since. The problems of Palestinian Arabs have been created by non-Palestinian Arabs and are maintained for their own political benefit.

The question though, is what the ratio of deaths per attack would be without such steps and technology. Looking at operation ratios globally over the last 20 years, the ratio is the lowest save for the the recent intervention in Libya, which involved areas far less built up. As such, the technology and steps appear to be doing a good job – without them, the numbers would be far higher.

As for the results for Hamas attacks, the lack of deaths is a result of actions by the Israeli government in providing for shelter and defence. I’m not sure one should praise Hamas for failing through the efforts of others.

Not through lack of effort of Hamas’ part though, is it?

Israel has a very sophisticated anti-missile system called Iron Dome. They have to, otherwise, Hamas rockets would have been hitting residential neighbourhoods every ten minutes throughout yesterday.

And high-tech precision weapons not withstanding, mistakes happen, as we demonstrated numerous times during the gulf and Afghan wars. The difference is that when Israel hits a primary school, that’s a tragic accident. When Hamas hits a primary school, that’s a deliberate attempt at mass murder.

Israel lets hundreds of Palestinians work in Israel and earn a half decent living. Hamas have buggered that up. When we dream we accept without question the most preposterous experience, occurring inside a sealed enclosure atop our shoulders. Only on waking do we encounter the means to realise it’s illusion. But what direct encounter with reality provides us with similar means, to detect and discard those delusions of the wakeful mind?
