Quote of the Day

Len McCluskey promises Ed a blank cheque and law breaking to fight the Tories…

“.. we will not let Labour fight for this programme with one hand tied behind its back. We will be up against the party of the rich, bought and paid for by the rich… Unite will do its bit to make sure that the next election is not financially lop-sided because democracy demands a fair fight…

The Conservative Party should not assume that we will put respect for unjust laws ahead of our duty to fight exploitation and ruthless employers. We will fight for our members within the law where possible. But let the Tories be in no doubt that if they push us outside of the law, they will be responsible for the consequences, not us.”

So there we have it .

From pampered union barons of the Eighties to outright political jihadists in only thirty short years .

Have they readied the tumbrils yet Len and will we all be made to donate our best clothes to a hard done by worker and made to wear odd shoes and go to churches with the bells silenced so as not to disturb the call to prayer of the vuvuzuela sorry the minaret ??!!

    Maimed Codger says:

So interesting and so childlike, who decides just what or what is not, ” Unjust Laws” why Mr Union, not Parliament, elected by the people, but those elected by a very few union members… of course as with true Socialism, true Communism and true Fascism, the Fuhrer Decides, now who could that be….. I wonder.

Well if our current regime of Plod with Hagen Daz and Ms Dick leading g from the front cannot even decide if riding a bike on the pavement is any more an indictable offence imagine what they would be able to do agsinst a bunch if reborn Tribune saboteurs ?

    Will says:

Well Len trade union membership is still declining despite expecting all the new arrivals to join unions.

  8. 10
    Will says:

Another 60,000 less members last year, soon it will be below 7 million, if you take out local authorities, teachers, Nhs and civil service, how many blue collar trade union members do you have I doubt that many. Also given the reductions as members retire from the above white collar jobs or downsizing you could end up having to cut jobs or days out

Rob Colvile reviews Russell Brand’s new book:

“Oddly, the person I feel sorriest for isn’t Brand himself – although he certainly comes across as a rather pitiable figure, projecting his own brokenness on to the world around him – but Johann Hari. Drummed out of Fleet Street for plagiarism, the former Independent columnist has washed up as “my mate Johann, who’s been doing research for this book”. For a genuinely talented polemicist, it would have been a humbling experience to have to treat this sub-undergraduate dross as the scintillating wisdom of a philosopher-king.”

Mycroft says:

Have you read the last bit of Animal Farm?

You know where the animals are looking through the Farmhouse window?

My TV screen was that window at lunch-time today.

Be careful, the sudden self-congratulatory tone, the slightly pudgy outline of indulgence and you become exactly what you should despise.

The jolly face of the Quisling Cameron poses for your camera has mesmerised and deceived you, you who were once not so deceived.

You were no firebrand, you were a damp squib in my opinion, sorry.

You need a damned good kick up the ahse!
