WATCH: Miliband: “This Taints Cameron’s Government”

“I think David Cameron has very, very serious questions to answer because we now know that he brought a criminal into the heart of Downing Street. David Cameron was warned about Andy Coulson, the evidence mounted up against Andy Coulson, David Cameron must have had his suspicions about Andy Coulson, and yet he refused to act.

I believe this isn’t just a serious error of judgement, this taints David Cameron’s government because we now know that he put his relationship with Rupert Murdoch ahead of doing the right thing when it came to Andy Coulson. I think David Cameron must do much more than an apology, he owes the country an explanation for why he did not act on these allegations against Andy Coulson, why as the evidence piled up he didn’t do anything, and he’s got to explain.”

Roll on PMQs tomorrow…

Your IDS ‘curveball’ is quite apt, given it was the Iraqi source of that name whose WMD ‘evidence’ was found to be lies.

Evidence will show that Blair knew Iraq had no NBC capability and that in fact it was Libya who posed the biggest threat at the time.

It was following his meeting with Bush in April 2002 that he requested a dossier be produced to legitimise their agreement to launch an invasion of Iraq and engineer regime change. Even going so far as to create a 45 minute capability, which IDS then referred to in the debate.

It was even Blair’s assessment that such action would not trigger factional fighting within Iraq after Saddam had been removed.

It must be wonderful for you to be able to ignore the facts.

Hardly opportunist. Say what you like about Red Ed, but everyone thought he was mad to go up against Murdoch. There were extreme and credible threats to destroy him personally and politically.

He took a huge risk and went a long way to cleaning up one of the more corrosive facts of British political life. It would be churlish to deny him the credit. (Fun, though!)

No – all Ed did was kick Murdoch when he was down, as the phone hacking scandal established itself fully. When he thought Murdoch was “up” again he posed with a copy of The Sun. Now that Cameron is temporarily down he’s kicking him where it hurts as well. Miliband is a typical Saturday night kicking opportunist egged on by his other desperate political thug friends.

Can’t kick Brookes or the others in Murdoch’s stable after the judgement but Cameron is a soft target after an immediate apology regarding Coulson. (How long did it take Brown to apologise about McBride? Even then it was dragged out of him). Miliband is cowardly scum behaving in the natural Labour Party way. There will not be a peep out of him now regarding Murdoch. No soft underbelly there to attack at present

Quite right, Miliband has to say something at every PMQT and yes, this is thin stuff. Cameron knew the defendants well but so did Blair and Miliband. Indeed, Miliband was lined up to talk to Murdoch before the hacking scandal broke. Both parties ignore Murdoch at their peril.

Does the little rubber-faced tosser think that Cameron should have hounded Coulson as though he were guilty before any legal process? Even though he could, like the others, have got off?

EVERYBODY cultivated relationships with Murdoch. He owned British politics. That’s why Red Ed clearly proved his unfitness for office by taking the insane risk of challenging the status quo.

But since his gamble paid off, we should give him his due. Fair’s fair.

That doesn’t mean we have to like anything else he has done. Or failed to do. And it certainly doesn’t mean having any respect at all for his predecessors.

Labour were in the pocket of Murdoch, he had his placemen across the political structure. This was a deal done by Blair and Campbell, and with the BBC and Murdoch onside the Tories were trashed again and again, It was the slow realisation that labour were incompetent and corrupt and the arrival of blog sites, such as this esteemed site, that the truth was out and Labour lost. Red Ed did not take on Murdoch, he tried to embarrass Cameron and Cameron used the hacking affair to rid British politics of Murdoch. Eds tactic has backfired on Labour as Murdoch is keeping a low profile now and his power has gone. Cameron cleared up British politics from the awful spin and deceit created by Labour’s close connection with Murdoch. I suspect Coulson will get a few months in an open prison, and even get off on appeal. Of all the charges laid they have only got him on one I believe, so its all a storm in a teacup.

I wonder will Cameron draw people’s attention to the fact that it was under a Tory government that this prosecution took place while it was a Labour government that failed to find any evidence while, coincidentally, Murdoch was supporting Labour.

I would like to work for Rt Hon Ed Miliband because I can write speeches for him that have the names David Cameron and Andy Coulson in every sentence, not just most of them. My speech would say

“David Cameron Andy Coulson was Andy Coulson David Cameron is the same as Andy Coulson David Cameron in 10 Downing street with David Cameron and Andy Coulson with Rupert Murdock and Andy Coulson plus David Cameron ”

Do I get the job ?

      I Hate Blair Too says:

He can say that Blair was Leader of the Labour Party when it was elected by a landslide in 1997. He can say that the Great Unwashed knew about Prime Minister Blair when they elected him and his party TWICE more. He can say that Blair was never ousted by the party in the way Thatcher was by the Tories. He can say that he was only a SPAD when Blair was in office and not a minister.

Associating with Blair is not his crime. Having no economic strategy, having no new ideas, being a creation of scriptwriters, focus groups and image consultants IS!

Well talking of criminals Mr Balls what about you standing up in Parliament and demanding the Anthony Blair get the thumb strew treatment for war crimes .
Far worse than a bit of phone hacking dont you think .
Think this trial was a complete waste of time and money especially as the paper had it appears already paid out huge sums to those effected and who seemingly had accepted the same.
Surely that was compensation for any hurt caused and should have been an end of it .

No experience of real life, and yet he wants to tell us how to conduct ours. Go and get a job son and come back in a few years when you’ve got some dirt under your fingernails (metaphorically speaking) and then perhaps we can have a chat.

Yeah, really – odd that Coulson was hung out to dry and Brooks was exonerated. The Dowler incident happened under HER watch. Coulson, though I hold no candle for him has been scapegoated as it was politically expedient for those who ‘would be king’.
