    ‘Tis unnatural,
Even like the deed that’s done. On Tuesday last,
A falcon, tow’ring in her pride of place,
Was by a mousing owl hawked at and killed.

        The BBC have gone off-message.

Why are they trying to undermine their own party?

Is this the breakdown of Civilisation as The Lord Clark, Kenneth McKenzie Clark, knows it?

You post excellent, witty and in-depth stuff guido about Labour’s failings. However, it needs to go further. Tory supporters such as myself get ourselves into a daily frustrated and feverish state about how Labour are sllowed to get away with Iit all the time and the Tory government gets blamed for all the necessary and harsh decisions that they have to take to get us back on track and restore this country to a great independent powerhouse.

I got so angry last week at Ed Balls on telly I kicked my telly off the stand and I smashed two of my best plates as well. I can’t stand Labour at all. Absolute tossers.

The fact is that the rules on this make these shenanigans necessary if one is not to be disadvantaged against the very people one is fighting.

It is a pity that the FN have completely lost the plot : If they were just a bit more negotiable then the large French bloc in EFD would have been awesome.

Picking up a few of the non-Inscrits was a smart move.

Even though the politics is slightly different – looking forward to seeing the double act of Farage and Grillo chew up the EP. Should be a pop-corn-tastic time ahead.

French intransigence is legendary. Marine has actually managed to shift the ground slightly from her father but not nearly far enough.

Farage’s success may well strike her that she has missed a trick. So there is a momentum to follow here. But in organisations like this, one may only move at the speed of the slowest. And OMG are some of them slow! I despair about ours but they are angels by comparison (note to self: do not get carried away here. Self-response: too true old son! :-) )

There is a wonderful symmetry for the Non-Inscrits though. Clearly, one needs to go beyond the minimum to avoid being held hostage by any one group or even one N-I. This he is doing. It is another enormous feather in his cap.

Agree that interesting times lie ahead.

          Most importantly: Vote UKIP :-D

          Like

          • There are two critical problems with FN:

            i) They will be discredited by the F’rench left: Some of the ‘rac!st’ attacks that have been happening in F’rance being blamed on the right look more like handiwork of the left. That is a similar pattern to what has been going on with G’olden D’awn courtesy of S’yriza.

ii) They may be backed by the K’remlin.

The one F’rench NI which UKIP have picked up should be watched carefully: She might be SVR.

If Le Pen has the strength – she may need her father to do this – it would be good is she could straighten the party out and then approach EFD.

Post below on !taly’s change of position wrt Juncker may help that. In order to calm down the pan-europa drive for Federal Monarchy pressure will be needed from the major European nations in the EP to moderate Juncker.

Key is to consolidate the democratic legitimacy of the Euro-Pres office – part of that will be opposing it and EUCO’s moves to go down the pan-europa path.

A good demonstration of demos would be to perhaps remove Juncker in the next few years and replace with Schulz before he can do any real damage, and before the next EP elections. That would also confirm the power of the EP itself which needs to happen over the next few years also.

It is a pity that G’ermany is not on board: It would be good if they saw sense and changed course though. The social problems which are now becoming real economic problems there are very worrying and wholly avoidable.

It will be up to Britain (through UKIP) but mainly !taly, F’rance, P’oland and S’pain (eventually) to change EU direction. The other member states should fall in once they realize what is going on and one hopes ignore the Siren calls of R’ussia.

Even though UK will not and should not remain in for Federalization, assisting Europe in that way as opposed to Cameron’s destructive antics, will pay the UK large dividends in the future.

          • Schulz, only because he did come second in the Presidential race, and also has been quite vocal about the undermining of democracy that has been going on with the Spitzenkandidaten shenanigans.

Am not a fan of S&D or Schulz’s specific politics, but as a politician he is effective, and has recently demonstrated that he puts democracy first and values the Union.

Also, he is not a pan-europa man: His ideas on Federalization are much more in tune with Briand’s.

The only real objection that is legitimate about him is his German nationalism baggage. That would not be good right now, but if F’rance can de-polarize then looking ahead it could be a very good thing. Not for an entire term, but if Juncker has to step down early, as a replacement Schulz would preserve demos until the following election.

Am only looking at political realities: Personally would prefer Verhofstad more, but he was not the clear second, and I do not think he would be able to hold the Eastern and Central European States together if they got restless. That is something which Schulz could do, and may be future reason for an early Juncker exit.

Their tone of politic has set them up for direct conflict with F’rance’s militant left, who will likely seek to discredit them.

If they could straighten themselves out and enter EFD – with M5S and UKIP that would give the group a very powerful voice. FN’s valid political objectives are in line with EFD’s but their extreme aspects and possible ties to R’uss!a render them toxic all round.

Eddie Mair on ‘PM’ seemed to be urging Ed to raise his game by highlighting this bit of avian whimsy and a new poll that gave 40% of respondents preferring David M to Ed (as well as 60% thinking Ed is not a PM in waiting).

I’m surprised that many people other than politics junkies could still recall the brother whose abiding appeal I can only surmise rests upon his arrogant radiating of entitlement and sense of superiority, as opposed to Ed’s far more pleasant crapness. Even Mandelson on last night’s ‘Newsnight’ was damning him with praise so faint you could clearly see his disdain through it.

Lots of CW (Nerve agents) were removed and have been dumped in the Med. (No country would agree to take them and dispose – at any price.)

Assad has only been using a little bit of chlorine lately – no mustard or nerve gas etc. Old School stuff.

In !raq – the CW plants which have been captured will be inoperative: Even if the plant still works, what is there will not be usable.

      http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/iraq-isis-seizes-saddam-husseins-chemical-weapons-storage-facility-1453416

Won’t be much there, but given how ISIS operate one would not be surprised if they syphon compounds from old munitions and dump in a reservoir. That negates the assurances of ‘no threat to security’ that have been offered.

Rob Colvile reviews Russell Brand’s new book:

“Oddly, the person I feel sorriest for isn’t Brand himself – although he certainly comes across as a rather pitiable figure, projecting his own brokenness on to the world around him – but Johann Hari. Drummed out of Fleet Street for plagiarism, the former Independent columnist has washed up as “my mate Johann, who’s been doing research for this book”. For a genuinely talented polemicist, it would have been a humbling experience to have to treat this sub-undergraduate dross as the scintillating wisdom of a philosopher-king.”

Mycroft says:

Have you read the last bit of Animal Farm?

You know where the animals are looking through the Farmhouse window?

My TV screen was that window at lunch-time today.

Be careful, the sudden self-congratulatory tone, the slightly pudgy outline of indulgence and you become exactly what you should despise.

The jolly face of the Quisling Cameron poses for your camera has mesmerised and deceived you, you who were once not so deceived.

You were no firebrand, you were a damp squib in my opinion, sorry.

You need a damned good kick up the ahse!
