Poll: Just 8.2% of Europeans Can Name Jean-Claude Juncker

Just 8.2% of EU nationals could name the lofty European Commission presidency candidate Jean-Claude Juncker, a poll conducted by the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists has found. 91.8% haven’t got a clue who he is.

Having had the selection process explained to them – that political parties at the European level run candidates for the role – 89.9% said that this should not be the criteria for selection. Just 10.10% supported the process.

Now that’s what you call a mandate…

Davies switched to Labour the night before Brown became PM. In his letter to Cameron announcing his move, Davies said:

    Very sharp reporting:

    To quote from the poll:

‘Only 8.2% of respondents were able to name the European People‘s Party‘s lead candidate, J’ean C’laude J’uncker. Awareness of the candidates in general was also low: only 13.6% of the respondents could name at least one of the candidates.’

    ‘The most recognisable candidate was M’artin S’chulz (30.3%) while J’ean-C’laude J’uncker was recognised by 25.9%. Least known was S’ka K’eller (5%).’

There is no breakdown of the voting intention or alignment of those questioned in the poll either: ie. Were only AECR voters polled ?

J’uncker’s campaign was less high profile than that of S’chulz / V’erhofstadt. He also did sign the Federalist list. S’keller would only have been known to G’reen supporters.

S’chulz could have had higher awareness as M’erkel was controversially involved in his campaign.

What is missing is that the AECR did not field a presidential candidate, denying those in the UK who voted MEPs aligned with that group a voice in the presidential vote.

(Those who voted UKIP would not have wanted one. So EFD not fielding a candidate is logical)

Additionally, the AECR are wishing for certain extremist parties, such as the True Finn group, to join in order to mute EFD in the EP.

Attempting to undermine democracy in this way is highly irresponsible: Positioning to force the presidential decision to be settled through passerelle is not good either.

    Vote UKIP :-D
