“What started as a murmur in the pubs and clubs and wherever people congregate in this country is now beginning to reach a crescendo roar and what people are saying is get Britain out… I joined the Conservative Party when I was 13 or 14 years old. I was excited by much of what Mrs Thatcher was trying to do during the 1980s. I felt that I was always going to be a Conservative. It didn’t seem possible to me that the Conservative Party would so actively betray all that this country stands for.”
