Tory MP Henry Smith should read Guido more carefully. His Point of Order this morning claimed “it has been reported that the party opposite has received significant donations from AstraZeneca as a company” and that Miliband failed to declare this at PMQs. The Speaker correctly replied that party donations would not be a matter for individual members to declare in the House.
Yet, as Guido revealed yesterday, the donation was actually from an AstraZeneca board member, rather than the company, and was made to Miliband personally, not to the party. If this had been raised as the Point of Order Bercow would surely have required the Labour leader to clarify…
