24 hrs to save the Nonces!

  10. 10
    Oh, really? says:

16 months? The touch of Huhne. No doubt he’ll be commissioned to write an article in The Guardian about what kind of life she’ll have behind bars.

  11. 11
    Curious says:

Good. Now what should Bliar get for lying to the entire country?

  12. 12
    C O (Ξ7r1) says:

Demonstrates just how whacky the short sentence handed down to Chris H’uhne was.

  13. 13
    Inie minie mo says:

  14. 14

Did she wear her wig in court?

  17. 17
    Jasmin Becket says:

This is so unfair I want to cry, I want all jail sentences dead.

She clearly only lied due to the trauma of slavery 200 years ago, or something.

  18. 18
    Exiled in Wales says:

  19. 19
    Fact says:

The whole thing sums up the LibLabConned PC paradise to perfection.

  28. 28
    nell says:

There are questions here for the police and her professional association as they are now saying that she had been dishonest and lied over previous issues but that both of them had declined to investigate her because she was too high profile. So who took those decisions then and are they going to be brought to book?

  29. 29
    The U.K. says:

I didn’t feel a thing – was it Max what did it?

  30. 30
    C O (Ξ7r1) says:

16 months will likely translate to at most 6 inside, provided she keeps her nose clean.

Her crime is serious, but compared to H’uhne who maintained an ongoing lie for 10 years whilst in a position of trust – being in public office – the sentencing numbers do not make for good optics.

This case demonstrates just how low-balled Chris H’uhne was on his sentence.

  31. 31
    Puzzled Saffer says:

Interesting: 16 months for a ‘judge’ lying about a Cabinet Officer’s offence who gets 8 months. Makes little sense.

I don’t think this is a rent seeker/trougher type fool. I have heard her before on the subject of black fathers and child abandonment. She’s allowed herself a weakness for some reason that I have yet to fathom. Rather career costly perhaps?

Anyway, time for allowance form submissions today.

  47. 47
    nell says:

Not anymore she’s not. Her career in the law is now at end and rightly so.

  104. 104
    MartinW says:

Briscoe was convicted for perverting the course of justice, a crime deemed to be extremely serious by the judiciary, and one for which Jeffrey Archer received a sentence of four years (released in two, I think). How very much worse it is for a judge to pervert the course of justice! Because of her privilaged position in dispensing justice to the rest of us, she should have received a greater sentence, or at any rate, the same tariff as Mr Archer. To be given only 16 months (out by Christmas, no doubt) is not justice, it is favouritism.

  105. 105
    Blair and Duncan-Smith says:

    No, seriously..

  110. 110
    jgm2 says:

  111. 111

    Fink 'bout tit, yeah? says:

I blame her father, for being such a monumental prick and calling her ‘Peaches’, great start that was. I blame him, and society, for encouraging her to think she was in some way talented, a celebrity, with an image to live up to. I blame you, and those like you, who seek to arrive at a reason other than the girl’s craven stupidity and selfishness for her death by drug abuse, taking smack whilst ‘caring for an infant’ is unbelievable, especially if one is known for spouting self-righteous bollox on Mumsnet about parenting.

Peaches is dead because she was smack-head, with shit parents, encouraged to play up to the celeb live style by society and shieded from responsibility by muppets like you, who think a constant flow of high grade, cheap heroin would have prevented this, ahem, tragedy.

DFS is to be renamed MDF. More snappy. Literally.

5 years to pay, but it’s knackered after six months.

  128. 128
    Mr Teazy Weazy says:

Our thoughts overlapped, so is she actually as bald as a coot!

  129. 129
    Prince Rupert says:

I think this is a sad end to a career over such a trivial issue. Why did she get caught up in the domestic spat between Huhne and his wife. Why does Vicky Pryce still get invited onto the BBC, she is a convicted criminal, and should not be supported in this way by the BBC, who no doubt will have Briscoe on at a later date. Once these people have fallen, then they should be denied the privilege of being in the media. Briscoe also has an odd relationship with her mother, lots of chips on her shoulder etc. Despite this I feel sorry for both Pryce and Briscoe, and it only goes to show that women should not be given an easy run in politics or the Board room, they may be sensible most of the time but they lack bottom

  130. 130
    Rob says:

The moral of the story – don’t go near Huhne. He is toxic.

  131. 131

  134. 134
    99p Shop says:

Perverting the course of justice is a greater crime than murder, these days. It usually clicked for a minimum of 5 years when I were a lad.

Her conviction comes 15 years after the Bar Council declined to investigate allegations made by the barrister’s mother into Briscoe’s fitness to practice over a litany of allegations, which included forging signatures and falsifying information on official documents.

    apr says:

Cases Constance Briscoe prosecuted and presided over should be reopened in aftermath of her criminal conviction and jail sentence.
“As formal proceedings to remove her from the judiciary now begin, defendants could call for re-examination of their cases if they have concerns that her proven dishonesty affected proper disclosure of material to their defence lawyers. Briscoe both prosecuted and defended cases in London and Sussex.”

CAN PEOPLE PLEASE HELP TO GET THIS POSTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND FORWARDED TO THEIR LOCAL PAPERS? Someone out there may have been wrongly judged by this dishonest judge, and can make a complaint and perhaps get a retrial – PROVIDED THEY KNOW ABOUT IT!

Boris on British Jihadis. Apparently based on MI5 intel:

“If you look at all the psychological profiling about bombers, they typically will look at porn. They are literally w***ers. Severe onanists. They are tortured. They will be very badly adjusted in their relations with women, and that is a symptom of their feeling of being failures and that the world is against them. They are not making it with girls, and so they turn to other forms of spiritual comfort — which of course is no comfort.”
