      Keitho says:

Indeed, some people just lie by reflex. They lie even when they don’t have to , just to keep their hand in.

Unfortunately most westerners haven’t encountered this level of lying and so think it isn’t real. Time reveals all but unfortunately it is far easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.

    • 191
      Tom Catesby says:

I suppose it will be a very quick lie down, like Mrs Huhne, in a soft jail, then a book and TV appearances, think she’ll need to do something,as the legal ‘career’ will be f^cked up, but one never knows these days. Her first hand knowledge of the prison ‘system’ may come in handy.

        Reader says:

I usually found her comments fairly sensible. Of course as a judge, she should have kept her nose clean and her face off the telly.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of this, I think it is a pity for her to end up with her career in ruins because she decided to get involved in the affairs of Chris Huhne and his awful wife.

  16. 23
    Travis Zly says:

Well-considered career move by Constance Briscoe. She is likely to receive promotion to the European Court of Justice (for criminals and terrorists) or be offered a career in politics.

  17. 28
    Apthorpe says:

Be either a suspended sentence (the judge will take the line that her career is ruined and that is punishment enough) or a very short sentence in an open prison that acts as the finishing school for BBC special correspondents. She’ll write a book and then hit the gravy train of tours and consultancy. Prison for this class is really just a career change rather than a punishment.

    • 40
      Connie Briscoe says:

Oh yes, I shall call my next opus “Criminally Ugly”

    • 46
      Guilty as charged, m'lud says:

Unlikely……BBC Legal Correspondent on BBC News Channel intimating that there was also something “iffy” about the libel trial which she won against her mother involving the evidence she supplied to support her case. The BBC investigation material has been handed to the Metropolitan Police who are investigating the allegations to see if true.

  18. 30
    The BBC Rogues' Gallery says:

So yet another BBC QT panelist is a convicted criminal.

    • 37
      Apthorpe says:

Indeed but prison just makes them more employable to the BBC in any other walk of life it spell the end of normal life for people convicted. The proposal to dismantle the BBC by the Conservative Party will be one of the signs the battle is being won. Don’t expect it from Dave the Heathite.

    • 45
      The BBC PR dept says:

Look, we use panellists who have a wide scross-section of experience, being a criminal is merely another profession. This is where UKIP come unstuck, they want to rock the boat, and that forces ordinary er hard-working folk to hurl eggs at them . Now pay your licence tax fee.

      • 60

And if you still think they re all Lefties in Moscow you have nt been keeping up

  19. 31
    Apthorpe says:

I’ve now got 134 people to commit to voting UKIP via my veteran groups contacts so I hope that many more will see that a strong UKIP vote this month is vital to try and draw a line against Dave the Heathite and his works. It may be pissing in the wind but you’ll have the pleasure of seeing the MetroElite in a panic and that has got to be worth it alone. You’re paying for the bean feast you might as well get some fun out of it.

      Mornington Crescent says:

“The UKIP leader, Nigel Farage, is under severe pressure today to explain why his being hit by an egg caused the conviction of Constance Briscoe, a bl@ck lawyer.

“The conviction is the latest in a series of allegedly r@cist attacks by Mister Farage and his party. For an analysis of the day’s events, here’s our political editor, Nick Robinson:

“Another day, another potentially f@tal blow to UKIP’s Euro election campaign, due to r@cism in his party. Despite denials by Mister Farage, he will surely struggle to justify…” [contd. on all channels, ad nauseam]

Criminals come from all walks of life of all races, colours, creeds and religions – i particularly hate the ones who ‘hide behind their religions [note the plural there - religionS] and as for those who ‘squeal’ – a,b, c …done in good faith! – The fork-tongued of the cognitive dissonance herd don’t ya think?

  24. 48
    non taxable pikey says:

    From Wiki
“Briscoe is known for her books Ugly and Beyond Ugly in which she claims she was abused as a child, which her mother denied. She often talks publicly about her experiences. Her mother, Carmen Briscoe-Mitchell, sued her daughter and her publishers Hodder & Stoughton for libel.[5] The case was concluded in Briscoe’s favour, when a jury in the High Court unanimously accepted Constance’s argument that her allegations were substantially true.[6]
Briscoe lives in Clapham, with her two children from her earlier relationship, with lawyer Adam Wilson.[3] A long relationship with barrister Anthony Arlidge ended in 2010.[7]
She underwent facial and other cosmetic surgery because she perceived herself to be ugly.[3]”
