On the email that is meant to have been sent to Rupert Harrison, a Treasury spokesman says:
“This is not true. No such email was ever received. We don’t know where this came from – but it’s not genuine.”
The “money-quote” denied was allegedly in an email to Rupert Harrison “I told you she’s a liability – humiliating George two weeks in. Might break Laws’ record.. Let’s kill it, but she doesn’t get to abstain. Agreed?”.
The authenticity of the rest of the email exchanges published are not questioned by the Treasury. Guido can’t definitively prove that the email was received by Rupert Harrison.
