On the left, today’s Daily Express English edition warning of a “Pension shock for millions: New warnings over a massive drop in income”.

On the right, today’s Daily Express Scottish edition telling readers north of the border: “Pensions safer within the UK”.

The campaign of misinformation attempting to deny freedom for Scotland laid bare…

  1. 1
    Pookie snackumberger says:

The staus quo must be maintained at all costs.

  2. 2
    Steve Miliband says:

    Vote No

  3. 3
    LB says:

    They aren’t mutually exclusive headlines.

    1. In the UK you are going to get a pittance – correct. They owe 7,100 bn and have no assets.

    2. In Scotland you will be worse off. Correct. You will get less than a pittance.

  4. 4
    The Admiral says:

Scots get what they want. Discuss …

  5. 5
    Django says:

They won’t vote to leave the Union but if they did it would mean Labour being condemned to opposition in the remaining UK for many years. We can but dream.

  6. 6
    english minority says:

The press is there in the Anglo US imperium to mold and shape opinion to support the empire and military industrial complex. Get used to it.

  7. 7
    Flange says:

You’re right, it’s unbelievable! Can’t quite believe what I’m reading!! Strictly prepared Susanna Reid for anything!

  8. 8
    Moron Watch says:

    That is very stupid.

Anyone would think the Express want the Scots to find out and vote for independence.

  9. 9
    Satan's little helper says:

What value will anythying in Scotland be worth when Parliament gets shot of all those Labour seats north of the border ? (tee-hee)

  10. 10
    Bert says:

So “Strictly” prepared her for anything, did it?

The mind, as they say, boggles.

(I’ve given up caring what the Jocks decide.)

  11. 11
    Britannia says:

The end of the Labour Party will do Scotland a masive favour, whether the Scots see that immediately or not.

  12. 12
    Bert says:

Americans are so utterly ghastly, aren’t they, cock?

  13. 13
    Anonymous says:

Or, if you think about it for more than one second; bad news for UK pensions, but it would be worse in an independent Scotland. No deception. I know you Guido bunch like long, sodden lunches but if you’re unable to work that one out then you might fancy hopping on the wagon.

  14. 14
    kebab time says:

Thank you p*ul, harr* and wiki.

Top blokes, u opened my eyes to different world, one that I was not and never was good enough for but u was allowed to walk in for a while.

Thanks for the patience shown over the years.

You really are top blokes with good hearts.

  15. 15
    Jess The Dog says:

The Curse Of Brown should guarantee Scottish freedom. Jonah is putting aside his feud with Darling to issue a proclamation on this very subject from a Glasgow lectern.

  16. 16
    HMRC's Bleeding Stone says:

The No campaign is doomed anyway.

James Gordon Brown is making a speech for Better Together tonight.

He seems to be the ideal person to tell the Scots about making sure you protect your pension pot from theiving politicians…

  17. 17
    T May says:

Not all of them. But enough are. That’s certainly true.

  18. 18
    Cross of St George says:

I’d like to see a massive headline: “Jock Off – Not a Penny More for the Tartan Spongers”

  19. 19
    Milibandwagon says:

    I agree

  20. 20
    Scottish Voter says:

Brown,Darling and Balls all want me to vote NO on 18th September?….Not sure I want Independence but I’m sure if those 3 nutters think it’s a bad idea, then it’s YES from me!

  21. 21
Wee Jimmy Krankie smells of leopards says:

You’ll have had your tea. Don’t listen to them Hamish! Get yersell awa’ fer sum independence, laddie!
Oh, and by the by, don’t ferget ta’ tek that load of shyster Labour MP’s with ye, as we dinna want the scally bastards doon in Lunnan!

  22. 22
    Winston says:

TfL pay 31% of salary into employees pension pot, costing us £300m a year.

  23. 23
Wee Jimmy Krankie smells of leopards says:

  24. 24
    Mars Attacks! says:

I’d rather a septic friend than Dobby Putin.

  25. 25
    Slapper says:

Seen BBC red dot sticking the knife into Susanna? Don’t like her large salary and remind her that her predecessors at GMTV lasted less than a year.
    BBC hacks must be jealous?

  26. 26
Dougal MacDougal of that ilk says:

Everything about the NO campaign is a train wreck of Tay Bridge proportions! Alastair Darling is like a grim funeral director trying to warm up a party. Gordon Brown advising the Scots on pensions after he raided everybody’s and left office with the UK bankrupt! The CBI opting for NO without consulting members and now the eminent ones are leaving in droves. Eddie Izzard being allied to comment and saying he cried at Braveheart!!! Dear oh dear. The YES campaign can sit back and watch the polls move.

  27. 27
    Not in my name says:

Both are right: pensions are safer if remaining in the UK in sense that it is all turning to shite anyway but will be worse in Scotland following a yes vote

  28. 28
    Norman Normal says:

Cheap holidays for those with a midge and bad weather fetish?

  29. 29
    Phil Robertson says:

Your juxtaposition is comparing apples with pears!

If you read the stories (rather than the headlines) you would realise that they are separate stories. One is about the lack of private pensions in teh UK as a who;e, the pthe is about relative costs of state pensions in teh UK and in Scotland.

The use of the two headlines is a further example of the lack of interest within the Yes campaign in accuracy.

  30. 30
    Oor Wullie Salmond says:

    Help ma boab. Jings. Crivens.

  31. 31
    YourSistersC*nt says:

Absolutely right: those jocks aren’t stupid enough to vote for a system in which they would have to actually generate the cash they spend. Why would they?

  32. 32
    Scottish Chav says:

as a scot I DONT WANT what the snp think of as “FREEDOM” … its an invitation to national bankruptcy, tax rates of 50% for all and wee fat eck as a member of the north korean royal family.
    just vote NO NO NO!

  33. 33
    Jock McGlasgaeMafia says:

Get lost krankie yer sporan muncher!
Vote yes! We will bleed the economy dry whilst blaming the English. Nae problem!

  34. 34
    Jock McGlasgaeMafia says:

Of course they want ya tae vote no. Both want a seat in the Lords when labour gets back into power.
In an independent Scotland they can get tae fuck!

  35. 35
    British Citizen says:

I’d rather be on friendly terms with America, Europe, Russia, Japan and China.

  36. 36
    StevieBC says:

I think I can reasonably claim that the vast majority of Scottish voters, [including myself], have a very, very low opinion of Brown for several reasons.

It just confirms that Labour remains out of touch with the people on the street: wheeling out Brown in particular will only convert some of the undecided to vote ‘Yes’.

And it shows also that Brown himself remains delusional about his abilities, his ‘legacy’ [!], and his current influence. :)

    Have a nice day.

  37. 37
Where are Tony Blair's Expenses says:

Scotland please please please vote for independence and just leave us alone and we can have a permanent Right of Centre government in what is left of the UK.

See how far you get without English tax payers’ money

Just keep playing Brave Heart on a loop and the 16 year old voters will lead you to economic disaster

Lets rebuild the Antonine Wall and put in the immigration control – see how much help you get from Europe; about as much as Spain and Greece

  38. 38
    alharron says:

Key issue is “would,” assumption being that there is no alternative. If the Scottish government made the same cataclysmic, idiotic decisions the Westminster government has with the economy, then of course it WOULD be worse – but why should the Scottish Government simply ape Westminster, when the entire point of independence is to do things differently?

  39. 39
    Scottish Chav says:

as a scot I DONT WANT what the snp think of as “FREEDOM” … its an invitation to national bankruptcy, tax rates of 50% for all and w e e-f a t-e c k as a member of the north korean royal family.
    just vote NO NO NO!

  40. 40
No to the EUSSR yes to the UK says:

Guidos jesuit plot to break the UK laid bare more like.

  41. 41
    surlyscot says:

would that be ‘differently’ as in North Korea different? everyone with two brain cells realise the SNP are just the old National Socialists in disguise – German style.
Salmond is a lying scumbag -FACT and Speak-your-weight Sturgeon is no better,
would’nt trust ANY of them to run a piss up in a pub.

  42. 42
    Jim says:

The SNP are only asking for Independence backed by the British Pound. They can therefore take what risks they like. If it all goes wrong then the British Taxpayer will take them back just to stop the losses.

  43. 43
    broderick crawford says:

McManse has now entered the Independence fray .

Nailed on guarantee the SNP will piss the referendum.

( how long before the result date will paddy power be paying out the YES bets?)

  44. 44
    Universal Hiss says:

Hello not been here lately. It’s because I’m taking an interest in Jock politics as I live in Jockland.

You will be delighted to know I’m a firm yesser so if independence happens you lot can keep all your money. That’ll be great won’t it?

No more winging Scots. No more oil & gas receipts. No more tax & VAT & NI from several million people.Oh,you’ll need to find a new parking place for Trident & build new docks for the two aircraft carriers sans aircraft.

Think of all the money you will save on the Barnett formula & no more Jock MPs or Lords.

It’s a win,win from both sides of the border.

  45. 45
    Tony Blair says:

All us Unionists can now relax, knowing that Gordon Brown has thrown his weight behind the “Better Together” campaign.

  46. 46
    Humanoid says:

A Scotsman made the best acid house song. Humanoid – Stakker Humanoid. So you have to support Scotland independence Fawkes as a mark of respect.

  47. 47
    jdman says:

And we would care about labour in England why remind me?

  48. 48
    Nonbeliever says:

And where is the UK-wide referendum on Scottish independence?

Affects us all yet no representation for the majority of the population.

Another stitch-up in the making and them that know will decide for us plebs again (just like the politicisation of the ‘Common Market’).

  49. 49
    Nonbeliever says:

Until we have to bail you out again, and again, and again, ad nauseum

  50. 50

To those of us who can’t wait to be rid of the scotch scroungers there could be no better news.

  51. 51

What this DOES reveal is the CONSTANT bollocks that the mainstream newspapers and television churn out with no thought. It would be interesting to compare and contrast other papers Scottish and English versions as a regular event. Start with the point of view that everything they have ever said is lies and you won’t be far wrong…

Yet who can really blame George. For wanting to maintain the status quo, and remain a Scottish MP in the south of England. Where its warmer?
