Foodbanks, Christianity and Socialism

Today is Holy Thursday, when the Queen traditionally offers alms known as Maundy money to deserving senior citizens. Scholars say “Maundy” comes from Jesus; “Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos”, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you”. Monarchs by tradition also washed the feet of the poor as Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. Jesus also said that You will always have the poor with you and can help them whenever you want.” Which brings Guido to foodbanks and socialism.

Socialists believe in the perfectibility of man, a doctrine going back to Rousseau, that people are capable of achieving perfection on earth through social means, without the grace of God. Unlike Jesus they don’t believe that the poor will always necessarily be with us. Foodbanks are mostly run by charities, many Christian inspired. The genuine anger from the left at the expansion of foodbanks is matched only by their incomprehension that some think their growth is a good thing and a sign that Christianity survives in an increasingly secular Britain. Christian help for the poor is an imperative given to them by their faith…

If like many socialists you believe society can be perfected, foodbanks are a sign of society’s failure. If like most Christians you believe the poor will always be with us, then foodbanks are the successful application of the teachings of Jesus. Guido doesn’t believe in socialism or the perfectibility of man, so sees the expansion of foodbanks as a good thing for the poor. Politically Labour are trying to capitalise on foodbanks, whereas in America Obama rolls up his sleeves and has photo ops helping out at foodbanks. It seems to Guido that Labour either should come out and say openly that they want to see higher welfare transfer payments to the poor or do some real community organising and help out at foodbanks rather than just moan about them. Happy Easter…

Labour are outraged because they believe the state has a duty to maintain a minimum living standard, above the level where people need food banks or homeless shelters. Let’s be honest for once. What we think is the State should control everything and have all the money because that worked so well in the USSR. People should be given pocket money to be spent on socially acceptable things, and the amount should be based on whether they do something socially positive, like writing hand wringing columns for the Guardian. Free food on the other hand means more money for booze and fags.

  8. 9
    nell says:

I find myself confused by foodbanks. YoungNells school has now adopted one to support and we are asked to send basic foods on a regular basis which we do. But I still do not understand why they are needed when people in need get welfare payments with which to buy food.

The other thing I find annoying is that labour’s statistics say that more than a million people are using foodbanks when in fact what they mean is that there has been about a million visits logged to foodbanks. It is a deliberate misuse of statistics and it just makes labour look dishonest, which of course they are.

They must have been! They had not previously, voluntarily, arrested and shot themselves.. so their guilt was obvious.

This country started to go downhill when those Victorian do-gooders started telling everyone poverty was a misfortune and we should be kind to the poor.
It’s got worse with the creation of the Bismarckian state socialist welfare system in this country and elsewhere. If the last 100 years have taught us anything they have taught us this: if you pay people to be poor you end up with a lot of poor people. It’s elementary market economics.
In my book, poverty is a bad thing, so it should be a crime and the poor should be treated accordingly and flogged from town to town until they amend their naughty lives and stopped being hungry and begging.

Children are shaped by the misery of poverty and our country is rich enough to ensure that kids get food in their bellies instead of spending billions on poorly managed banks and spending millions on golden handshake & rewarding failure. How can that be fair or justifiable? It is not about perfection but common sense thinking! Apply this and problems can be solved.

Some of you actually give her too much credit by calling her a feminazi or a man hater. She’d have to have some principles to be either of those. This is a vapid creature whose entire life and career has been based around whatever is most expedient at the time. She voted for Iraq. When it came to the deputy leadership election, she suddenly condemned the decision. When Miliband said Iraq was a mistake during his acceptance speech as new leader, she applauded and even David Miliband was caught on camera asking her why she’s clapping when she voted for the war. She is a truly repugnant excuse for a human being. Foot, love him or loathe him, had his principles. Bob Crow, love him or loathe him, had his principles. A million visits a year for 3 days worth of food is not much compared to the food for 60 million population 365 days a year. Stand at the exit to any large supermarket and watch the trolleys go past the “food bank” bin and see how little gets handed over compared to how much gets wheeled out the door. Food banks are statistically negligible.

      Good point, a million food parcels out of 76,650 million meals a year (70m x 3 x 365).

it is the strong who are the weakest says:

yes a point so good i am going to eat it. because i have nothing else to eat. you have the firm believe that your belief is the best and only way and if that were to come to pass we would be living in a dictatorship aka it would not be democracy.

communism might just you know have been deliberately created with the long term goal of being made to fail, because we wouldn’t want people living in community with each other. so decades of fucking terror and shite and death that capitalism oh so fucking bravely vanquished means capitalism is the winner! and onwards ever onwards people who’ve prospered from it can use communism as an example of why capitalistic style dictatorship is the only way.

i guess it is just too much to suggest that perhaps the labour party was infiltrated by fuckers to fuckit over, like blair and mandelson and hodge and harriet and blah fucking blah. the fact privy council members are administered oaths of allegiance to the monarch might just point out that the whole thing is just really a charade a puppet show. bet you and many other people figured that out a long time ago and it pays you a living so you go along with it.

i value we can post anonymously (well unregistered) on your blog and that i do actually believe or want to believe that you are a decent fella and that your team are too. but there ain’t been a revolution like the internet before and we should move slowly, peacefully and orderly towards direct democracy. cut out the mp spivs and their special interest funders and fuck the banks off as well, because whilst there is a danger in turning currency into a purely electronic format, if it was peer to peer open source and some sort of barter exchange without banks bleeding people dry we would all live long and prosper.

but back to food. my dinner tonight is tatties, salad with a drizzle of dressing, and half a tin of cheap tuna. all in it cost me 1 quid 20p. breakfast was porridge made with water, about 15p. lunch was a tin of soup, 40p. fluid wise i reel in at 1 litre of juice diluted with water 65p a day. so that’s 2.40 a day, round it up with variances to 20 quid a week and round that down to 1000 quid a year.

your wiki says you sold a pic of a spad (basically a collection of pixels captured via a camera) to murdoch for 20 grand. let’s be exciting and say you paid 25% tax on that, leaves you with 15 grand. taking into account for inflation and whatever that could easily feed one person for 10 year, or a couple for 5 years or a family of 4 for 2 and a half years.

that’s what is wrong with capitalism. the priorities are all wrong. everyone by virtue of being a living sentient being should have the right to food and shelter and medical care. it is just common fucking sense to look after our species. crack that and make it happen and build whatever capitalism free enterprise you want on top of it. cos at the moment the foundation of your beliefs is built on fear and hate and blood and guts.

is that all our evolution is ever going to be? have we not yet reached the point where we can use all that has been created from the shit and the piss of the past to actually treat everyone positively with compassion and patience? people might well have a hard time comprehending that because they are stuck in the maze of left/right this ism that ism etc etc.

if you get a clear sky one evening get on your back you fat chubber and gaze at the multitude of twinkles and consider do you want our species at some point in the future to travel forth and explore space. for those in the far future who have your dna spliced with that of others to be zooming through the proper ether on some barmy moon sized ship that can perpetuate life for centuries in order to reach the nearest star. until we sort our collective shit out on this planet and unify positively it ain’t going to happen.

can’t be arsed to proof read. take or don’t take it… guess writing those options makes me a dictator huh

i am fucking off from this blog for a few weeks. doubt anyone will miss me oh well. feel free to sock puppet or whatever. indeed fluoride is not a heavy metal but i was making a point about the usa military front that is the fluor corporation. but fluoride in your tootthpaste does seep over time with regular use into your blood stream and eventually calcifies your pineal gland. laugh if you want but before they started putting that shit into toothpaste and water supplies and indeed additives and preservatives into food and beverages cancers were virtually none existent. they spray harvested tobacco with sugar solutions which is why it is a lot harder to stop smoking then it used to be. and said sugar solution ramps up the chances of lung cancer. again before they did that a lot less people got lung or throat cancer. so whoopee for fucking capitalism. here’s your bury your hand in the sand get out of facing the reality card… the royal family are a breed of cosmic leeches who like to munch on sacrificed fetuses. there you go! quote me on that last bit and the heavy metal fluoride shit because that is all you can do. proper 15 second sound bites to obfuscate the truth.

peaceful easter to you and all the regular mongs x

jgm2 you mean our jezebel grandmaster? there is a time and place to be a hippie but very very occasional one has to ramp it right up and see how it played. why! there is peace! i guess people out there like subverting my words when it suits them and other times, well…

the first four books are the source code and everything else is nothing more than malicious scripts. in fact even the first four has built in variances and fail safes but it is not infallible simply because these people are pirates in my universe. as i typed in the past genesis relates to the big bang in the sense of the moment of conception onwards…

zygotic period aka genesis chapter 1 verse 27
so god created man in his own image, in the image of god created he him; male and female created he them.

blastocyst period aka genesis chapter 2 verse 7
and the “lord” god formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

embryonic period genesis chapter 2 verse 8
and the “lord” god planted a garden eastward in eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

fetal period aka genesis chapter 2 verse 21
and the “lord” god caused a deep sleep to fall upon adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof

everything created in genesis chapter 1 verse 1 through to verse 26 is a parable of these things being in existence because the “god” aka father of the conceived (verse 27) and “lord god” aka mother of the conceived (verse 27) was obviously in existence prior to the conceived being conceived. genesis does not tell us how the actual universe was created.

the big bang is basically a sperm penetrating an ovum and beginning cell division. i am the god of my universe – my perception of the universe i inhabit is mine and mine alone. any pirates who attempt to usurp my authority by electronic tetragrammatonic means find themselves at the sharp end of the true power of consciousness because in such cases of piracy the star of the star bethlehem is born internally into the life of the oppressed god to provide assistance and interact with the 72 spirits of goetia.

anyway bw congrats on your past success fighting biometrics and have a pleasant weekend.

    Socialists fear and hate the food banks because;
1 They are a grass roots, genuine charity that cannot be controlled or staffed with lazy useless socialists.
2 Food banks only give to the deserving poor ie hard working people short of cash because immigration lowers wages. Most food banks refuse dole scroungers because they’re doing alright at our expense. Most food bank users use them once or twice then get back on their feet.

In short, socialists hate food banks because they work and cannot be controlled.

    Cato Street Conspirator says:

‘Socialists believe in the perfectibility of man…’

What absolute bollocks. Socialists think there may be a better way of organising society and the economy than the capitalist model. Nothing to do with ‘perfectibility’. If you start your argument on the basis of a fallacy you’ll get nowhere.

    non taxable pikey says:

Perfectability? Nothing is perfect, not even me.
Is this the new meaningless overused buzz word to replace “absolutely” I wonder. When “absolutely” is used I tend to ask “are you sure?” When it is used more than 3 times in 5 minutes on the BBC I have a rule that the channel is changed.

    What a dollop of doo-doo.

You don’t have to perfect man to eliminate food poverty.

In fact, compared with much more Christian 19th century UK, there is far, far less food poverty now than back then. How come if human imperfectibility is the cause of food poverty.

I’m surprised the author comes out with this, since he originates from a country that suffered one of the worst famines ever seen – a famine that could easily have been avoided, had the authorities organised at a governmental level rather than relying on personal and localised charity.

    Jess The Dog says:

Jesus was an anarchist. He threw the moneylenders out of the temple, no small feat in those days. His teachings were revolutionary and insurrectionist as well as populist, using the parable metaphors. There was sonething about rich men, camels and eyes of beedles as well. He would not recognise the bloated Catholic and embittered Protestant churches as his legacy, other than the occasional flourishes of offshoot sects like the Anabaptists and Quakers which arose from turmoil in Europe and England.

you talking to me? yeah i know it is a shitter that you couldn’t stitch me up like you did last time. not even your they be a fake and he will be the anti blah blah is going to work. because you profane subhuman beasts are so fucking corrupt. you do know right that islam is on my side in the sense they know i will save them? but you have attempted to use me to destroy them. let us hope they have mercy on your souls because frankly i am not. as for the use of c u n t you are correct in the sense of creation and birth, though i sense your inflection is one of negativity. that’s your arrogance. and basic lack of any sort of respect whatsoever for people you perceive to be not worthy. but you have known who i was all along. and you have fucked with my life and my head and that of my family in an attempt to stop the inevitable- that of your conduct and behaviour and basic contempt for the people you deem “god” has given you a divine right to rule over. you even said to me at the barracks “i shook your hand before”. i was a child having to endure unspeakable things from an adult i should have been able to trust but that along with the ritual that occurred when my baby brother died was you scheming and sculpting for the future. a future where you would use me and other implants to create the conditions where you could implant everyone with the mark of the beast. the irony of course is the book you pretended to exalt even said you would fail- but you thought otherwise.

so horace or should i say horus. you have been out gunned. and think yourself lucky to have not be outed and/or gunned. this planet belongs to everyone, not just a handful of dodgy inbred families who are basically a bunch of subhuman parasites who spend their time scheming and exerting hate upon the people they pretend to protect. and that man who did those disgusting things to me as a child, who had me adopt his surname. remember its significance pertaining to this time of year- of things being revealed. and remember what my true surname would have been- that of a warrior. and remember what my name means in gaelic both literally and its acronym – that of the number of the beast flipped. and remember that i will show you know mercy whatsoever because you have shown no mercy to others and that you and your ilk proclaimed to be divine when you were nothing more than profane. so yeah! merry fucking easter! you disgusting scumbags – don’t let the door hit your festering arse on the way out :) :) :)
