Housing benefits: Changes ‘see 6% of tenants move’

        C.O.Jones says:

Housing benefit is one of the reasons for the very high rents in the UK. In most towns landlords who do not want benefits claimants in their property pitch the rents at just above the claimants maximum allowance. This has led to an explosion in rental charges across the country over the last few years.

Landlords as well have been exposed to the lowest mortgage rates over the last century and this is distorting the property market significantly.

Buy to let has never been as easy or profitable as it is now but it is only open to people who have access to borrowing and since 2008 that has been to an ever diminishing group of people.

Ukraine Shocks Population With Staggered 100% Heating Price Increase While Restricting Cash Use

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-03-28/ukraine-shocks-population-staggered-100-heating-price-increase-while-restricting-cas

In a TV address to his divided nation, Ukraine’s PM Yatsenyuk stunned the people by first suggesting heating prices would rise gradually, then confirming a plan that will see prices rise 100% in the next 2 years (and almost 200% by 2017) as the cost of imported Russian gas is expected to be around $500 (up from the current $84). This standard of living crushing move was then followed by tougher capital controls, restricting cash purchases to around $1300 per person per day after the Central bank basically admitted “amid a tense situation in money markets” it was broke. And all of this comes on the heels of what can only be described as a vague pro-forma comment by US and EU governments over the riots by the “Right Sector” ultranationalists that clearly did not want to upset the state-sponsored thugs too much.

Stefania Maurizi @ L’Espresso fails to justify choices of redaction in the document releases she has been involved with and confirms that G’reenwald has been quite selective (read: manipulative) in what has been redacted in releases thus far.
