Nick v Nigel: The Details

  1. 1
    EU Funded Pro-EU Troll says:

    Vote UKIP

  2. 2
    Gerbil 7 says:

    BBC have TV rights?
Will it be a QT type audience, you know, where the coaches turn up outside local Labour Party offices and you can’t enter the studio without a UNISON membership card?

  3. 3
    Vlad The Inhaler says:

Clegg is going to take a pasting, whether you agree or not with Farage or not he will walk all over Clegg.

  4. 4
    Oh for gawds sake... says:

WTF does this have to do with the BBC? They shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near this.

  5. 5
    Danielle Stevens says:

Remind us again how much Clegg gets paid by the EU in his pension?

And of course there is a contractual obligation on Clegg never to criticise the EU within his pension contract.

Clegg is the paid stooge of a foreign power that is usurping our Westminster Parliament.

We used to hang people for that.

  6. 6
    Gerbil 7 says:

They’re trying to make it look as though they are agreeing with the Ofcom ruling (they don’t have to) but you know as well as I do how those bastards are going to spin and twist it.

  7. 7
    oh look there's Nachos... says:

    Who are these two chaps?

  8. 8
    VOTE UKIP says:

Nigel should walk the first debate then when on the BBC it’ll be a stitch up with Dimblebum cutting Nigel off and laughter/booing from the pre-picked audience….

  9. 9
    E. Manual Goldstein says:

Unusual, having the third place play off before the final.

  10. 10
    Vlad The Inhaler says:

Before Clegg goes in for the debate with Farage he will have the full weight of the BBC behind him, facts and figures etc never mind that they will be true or not at his fingertips, Of course Dumbelbey will be primed.

  11. 11
    Anonymous says:

We all know that if Clegg wants to retain his EU pension & maintain his prospect of another position in the EU hierarchy he has to actively push the argument for them.
If he were to do otherwise it would all go to pot.

  12. 12
    C O (Ξ5) says:

U flagship H’etman S’ahaidachnyi returns to port under U flag.

R-Fed were super insistent that this ship had defected and was flying under the R-Fed flag the other day.

It returned to Odessa, not Sevastopol.

  13. 13
    Dandy Burnbum says:

One supports the english and one does.nt

  14. 14
    still walking into darkness says:

Would be nice if Nigel mentions how the EU central bank is stitching us up just like all the other central banks of the world. I genuinely doubt Clegg understands this

  15. 15
    oh look there's Nachos... says:

I say, who are these two chaps?

  16. 16
    General Pinochet says:

It’s a no contest……………Nigel is a super medium weight……..Nick merely a lightweight. It’s cruel to watch such a spectacle………….but as the BBC are acting as ref Nick may just be able to slip some of Nigel’s blows. This however shouldn’t go beyond three rounds, as Nick skirts around the ring looking for safety & help from the BBC. Nigel Knocks him out in the earlies!

    Come on Nigel ‘fighting’ Farage!

  17. 17
    oh look there's Nachos... says:

Ah,So the one with the French sounding Name supports the French?

  18. 18
    Sochi & Sochi says:

    Labour isn’t working.

  19. 19
Lord Boothby, Nonce and Personal Friend of Maggie says:

    Oh bugger me!

  20. 20
    He's sorry says:

  21. 21
    BBC Cyberman says:

We have only a few weeks to BOOK the audience and the protesters outside the studios ;)

  22. 22
    Gordooooom Brown says:

    British knobs for British wankers.

    British slobs for British shirkers.

  23. 23
    Anonymous says:

    “It’s on.”
Some say it is better to say nothing, and be thought a fool. Than to speak one’s mind, and prove as much. Sure we can listen to two personalities debate each other, from inside the political paradigm. But wouldn’t it make more sense to have a third party there? To prompt then back to the path of reality, when they inevitably stray. For example: Rumour has it, immigration potentially deprives twenty+ citizens in every hundred of a job. To have our heroes fully appreciate this, would we not need to apply a similar double decimation process to the ranks of parliament?

  24. 24
    Questions of our time says:

Did the D’aily M’ail run the H’arman piece upon suggestion of CCHQ ?

People quick to accuse the Mail of cover up ignore that CCHQ have much stronger motivations to ensure that the press are distracted.

  25. 25
Axe The Telly Tax & Religion & Kill All Eco-loons says:

The minimum wage not immigration is to blame for high unemployment.

Germany (without a minimum wage) consistently has a much lower unemployment rate than the UK/USA .

This clearly shows that the minimum wage is a jobs destroyer.

It’s high time both the UK and USA abolished the minimum wage so we can get unemployment, especially youth unemployment, down.

  26. 26
    bergen says:

I think this has been a good idea to have a debate between people who genuinely have a view on the subject . Both of the main parties forever trim on Europe. On balance I think we’d be better off out but at least Clegg really believes in it and is prepared to fight his corner openly.

  27. 27

The Offcom ruling is the one favours the LibDems. The form is; airtime is awarded on the basis of the party’s showing at the previous election. Which, as this is an election to the EuroParliament, would put the LibDems kiddies out in the cold listening to the ‘big boys’ debate grown up stuff without their childish interruptions.

  28. 28
Tony Blair is a war criminal says:

Farage is an idiot letting the BBC be involved. They will load the audience with the usual nut jobs, kiddie fiddlers and Labour goons.

  29. 29
    Ben says:

And the other two calculate that they can snub the public and democracy with impunity do they? Too important to have to explain themselves? Or they know that the public will see thru their lies?

    Which is it?

  30. 30
    Nick says:

    I agree with Nigel.

  31. 31
    Paniagua V5.1 says:

Quote of the day on the Telegraph Dan Hodge piece (slightly amended)….

Clegg: def: a fungal infection similar to thrush, commonly referred to as an irritating c**t.

  32. 32
    Handycock whipping it out says:

We are missing you and your many friends down the Lodge, Bob (my boys in Portsmouth remind me of yours, Ronnie and Reggie). I do hope to join you and all the other Brother Nonces in that great Lodge in the sky one day, but not too soon, I still have a lot to do in eastern Europe. Boaz.

  33. 33
    EU to me says:

Can’t see that happening, the bBBC has had Farage on too many QTs for him to spook over a vile lefty audience, they also know he has got a better chance of getting up the slippery voting poll than Clegg the power hungry slob, who has lost his lefty credentials and is on the slide down, better for them to stick to a resemblance of fairness, as they don’t know what the future for the bBBC holds if Farage gets further than just being back stop and gets to be the main bowler.

  34. 34
    Vlad The Inhaler says:

But surely all the libdems are infected with this.

  35. 35
    Paniagua V5.1 says:

    *Dan Hannan* not hodges

  36. 36
    Paniagua V5.1 says:

The only flaw in your premise is that even irritating c**nts have uses.

  37. 37
    oh look there's Nachos... says:

If there’s Nacho’s down my local pub again, I won’t be watching or listening to whoever they are anyway.

  38. 38
    Idon'tneednodoctor says:

The debate outcome – A bore draw.

  39. 39
    Executive Summary says:

    Clegg is a Quisling

  40. 40
    John Bellingham says:

That should be a question to ALL pro-EU agitators like the Kinnocks, Patten, Mandelbum etc. as well as Clegg–“How much money do you risk losing if you tell the truth about the EU?”

  41. 41
    Shooty* says:

    “I agree with Nick”…

  42. 42
    Misanthrope says:

    Fuck everyone.

  43. 43
    Himmler says:

    Ja vol!

  44. 44
    D.Dimbleby says:

I lurve Nicky babes, he is THE man.

Of course it will be impartial

  45. 45
    MB. says:

Thank God for The One Show on BBC1

  46. 46
    Each action etc. says:

If the CCHQ suggested it to the DM, maybe they have woken up to the fact they need to get their PR working, a thousand times better than the misses they could have caused Liebour damage over the years, their PR is a bag of nothing, at least they got rid of one of their lousy PR guys a mass sacking of CCHQ PR would be more help.

  47. 47
    geordieboy says:

Don’t forget the BBC took £3 million in slush funding off the EU which was hidden in their accounts and the EU will want some sort of payback.

  48. 48
Peedofile Information Exchange Press Release says:

    Notice Before Action

In recent days it has come to our attention that we have been linked to the Labour Party.

We wish to make it clear that we are a legitimate pressure group that seeks to lower the age of consent.

We object, in the strongest possible terms, to being linked with an ideology responsible for the death of upwards of 100,000,000 people.

Please de*si*st from lin*ki*ng us to the Labour Party or we will have no choice but to ins*ti*gate le*g*al pro*ce*ed*ings to protect our re*put*at*ion.

  49. 49
    Paniagua V5.1 says:

While Nigel relaxes post bout with a pint of Bitter, Clegg will simply be Bitter.

  50. 50
    geordieboy says:

    Itchy fanny syndrome?

  51. 51

BBC to show Clegg/Farage debate – Wednesday 2 April at 7pm

  53. 53
    Maximus says:

Or even Dozy Dormouse Departure Lounge Lizard Dave. Why won’t he do anything for his party over the Bolshevist Broadcasting Chancre? Why did he personally install the Fat Pang, ex- and ongoing EU troffa, there to ensure the bumboys would stay on the pro-EU message? Because he has his eye on the main chance.

  54. 54
    Anonymous says:

The BBC [ EU funded] host and some Lib Dem gang up on Farage. He bobs and weaves, not a glove landed.

  55. 55
    C O (Ξ5) says:

Nobel peace price candidates are a bit awkward this year:

    i) Ed S’nowden – who has seriously undermined US security with obvious negative implications for peace

    ii) Putin

iii) M’alala Y’ousafzai : After the BBC helped her get shot in the head seems to have become a grooming victim of G’ordon B’rown.

The prize seems to have degenerated into an outright lefty / NGO mess.

  56. 56
    oh look there's Nachos... says:

If these two Chaps Nigel Clegg and Nick Farage think I’m going to waste valuable Nacho eating time watching or listening to them…

  57. 57
    Winston says:

This debate will be listened/watched by about 2% of voters. The mainstream media will then broadcast snippets favouring Clegg and report how he defeated Farage easily. The commentariat will then write numerous articles insulting UKIP and praising Clegg. This will be digested by 70% of voters. This is how the political elite/media elite manipulate the lazy public. They did it for Cameron vs Davis in 2005.

  58. 58
    Graham says:

A bad move to have BBC and Dimbleby involved. QT is a rigged programme, planted questions given to pre-chosen members of a left-orientated audience and panel with Liebourite Dimbleby adding to the bias.

  59. 59
    jgm2 says:

Fair play to Clegg. He’s manned up and going to take the fight to Farage.

At least you know where you are with the Liberals over Europe.

The BBC is going along with this because they figure Farage will take votes from the Tories. They’ll be right of course. But I think they might be surprised how many votes he’ll take from Labour too.

Just as Cameron mis-calculated allowing Clegg to participate in the 2010 debates so the BBC will be shown to have miscalculated in the 2014 EU vote.

  60. 60
RomaBob.... working hard for you! says:

Not very democratic to be so selfish.

Third place play off is usually held before the final.

Not that UKIP are likely to do worse than second.

  63. 63
    Paniagua V5.1 says:

Seriously it should be that well known Liberal wet David Cameron.

As he has is so despised that no one has time to hate anyone else.

  64. 64
    Herman Achille Van Rompuy says:

We are sending EU troops to make sure the debate goes the right way.

  65. 65
    Curious says:

Dave will be in hiding — is he chicken or just spam fritters?

  66. 66
Axe The Telly Tax & Religion & Kill All Eco-loons says:

I just had to check to make sure it wasn’t April 1st :-)

  67. 67
    Jack Ketch says:

Nie! The man with the Froggie name who used to work for Credit Lyonnais who married to a Kraut is on our side. The Dutchman with the Yorkist, name who used to work for a Gaddaffi PR company and the Hankipanki Bank of Finland and married to a dago is not.

  68. 68

  70. 70
    Dandy Burnbum says:

    Clegg sounds Dutch

  71. 71
    Maximus says:

Yes it really is terrible having to pay people to do things. If we brought back slavery for all then we would have zero unemployment.

  72. 72
    tigerowl says:

Have you ever been on QT then? It is like getting into fort knox with all the questions you are asked. Sadly, this debate will be a non event. Nigel billy liar farage versus Nick useless Clegg has about as much appeal as a dead parrot.

  73. 73
    Di rear says:

jgm2.. I disagree with your “At least you know where you are with the Liberals over Europe”
Wasn’t so long ago, as part of their manifesto, that they demanded a referendum on the UK remaining in the EU.
    Rank hypocrisy

  74. 74
    tigerowl says:

I doubt it. Clegg is useless to start with but once farage is in the spot light, his views will be pulled apart as wrong, false and just negative. Real debate will be after the general election when all three leaders will get round and debate in or out. Once that begins, UKIP will be slaughtered. You can not run campaigns on false information like UKIP do. The facts show them wrong on everything they campaign on. And Britain will vote to stay in by a large margin. then what for UKIP? And where will all their racist voters/supporters go then?

  75. 75
    anti establishment party ukip says:

yes this is more a job interview for an EU job for nick rather than a debate on democracy with nige seeing as the good people of sheffield are going to putting him out to pasture soon

  76. 76
    anti establishment party ukip says:

why not,the labour party have been doing it for years?

  77. 77
Toxic Labour for Spongers, Parasites, Criminals, Peedos, & other Wasters says:

So the Chief LimpDumb pervert will try and defend the corrupt eu. Not biased at all then when he will receive a 7 figure eu pension!

  78. 78
    tigerowl says:

Three million jobs and fifty per cent of our trade. That is why Britain will vote to stay in the EU. because UKIP just do not have an alternative to being in. If we come out, then what? Farage does not know. And you do not win votes on taking a gamble on the future. About time negative politics was thrown out.

  79. 79
Guido is a Jeremy Hunt says:

Vote UKIP, Nige will wipe the floor with the idiot Clegg

  80. 80
    Lord Stansted says:

The BBC might handle it in the style of the dumbed-down Reith Lectures: a studio audience of people “with aggendas” and Sue Lawley giving her opinion every five minutes.

  81. 81
    C O (Ξ5) says:

Bit of disagreement in the M-E:

Envoys are being recalled from Q’atar over concerns that Q’atar is not serious about not interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbours.

Essentially, S’audi, B’ahrain and U.A.E. are not happy with Q’atars continued funding of the Muzzie B’rotherhood.

  82. 82
    tigerowl says:

WTF does this have to do with the BBC?…. well they have the biggest audiences for a start. I would put this on Channel Five with all the other crap and pornography for the numpties to watch.

  83. 83
    Herman Achille Van Rompuy says:

Well done comrade, your EU pension is secure.

  84. 84
    Jack Ketch says:

It is still up to David Cameron whether to debate Milliband in the 2015 GE, he probably will not. While he was he clear winner against Brown in 2010 and would eat Milliband for breakfast, any 2015 debate would need to include Clegg and, now, maybe Farage. That’s the last thing a sitting PM wants to do. Clegg knows this, so this is a way for the Lib-Dem’s only pair of clean hands (not a Gayer, not a P.D.O, not a convicted thief, not mentally incapacitated, not a twisted twerp) to promote themselves as a “leader”.

  85. 85
Axe The Telly Tax & Religion & Kill All Eco-loons says:

Maybe Putin has finally grown a pair and threatened to nuke Riyad, the Quatari capital and Brussels :-)

  86. 86
Lady Virginia Droit de Seigneur says:

It should be made very clear at the start of the debate what Clegg’s EU pension entitlements are and exactly under what terms that pension is paid. The greasy little tw*t won’t let the public know himself.

  87. 87
bbc bias here we come says:

i watched qt during the b1iar bruin years.
dimblebee always gave the labor party of the day the last word.
now the government has changed dimblebee still keeps to that formula
every week we see plants, and non left wing panelists allowed to shout down dimblebee’s other guests

Farage should ask for an unbiased chairman

  88. 88
    C O (Ξ5) says:

Cameron would be a good candidate because he is too inept to cause a war.

However, the damage he has overseen in the UK, from floods to Leveson, not to mentioned fucking up UK defence, makes serious warlords around the world cringe.

B’rown’s M’alala was put forward last year, and failed.

Note the EU referendum strategy in trying to get her a prize though.

  89. 89
    Bubo virginianus says:

Thank heavens you are an endangered species.

  90. 90

  91. 91
Auto Postal Vote Blocks in UK says:

Given our automatic voting power block, which apart from some nifty biro work is effortless, it will be fun to watch the simple Gaerage and our Mr Clegg, sir, have a debate over the other 60 per cent of potential voter but as this lot will be flogged out from working twelve hour days to pay their future death tax which actually will pay for our future immigrating friends, we shall laugh heartily.

  92. 92
    jgm2 says:

Fair point. Although at least their referendum (also reneged upon by Labour – manifesto not subject to legitimate expectation) was offered from the POV that they (Liberals) would be campaigning in favour of staying in.

  93. 93
BBC supporting for your own good Auto Postal Vote Blocks in UK says:

    C O (Ξ5) says:

You are likely not far off.

Some reading of the tea leaves re: US defence cuts would suggest that the threat risk has increased absent any formal communications.

Q’atar is much more closely aligned with the US at present, has reduced its own gas production and is earning income from US activities.

With it being less of a direct competitor to R-Fed now, yet retaining income stream, it is a legit target for others in the region and the perfect US proxy.

The block on gas pipeline caused by R-Fed intervention in Syr!a is hurting S’audi / U.A.E. (projecting ahead)

  98. 98
    Bill d'Sarse says:

So more shoite on the Beeb this morning. Apparently they are promoting (the Labour Party policy) of quotas for women on boards, they want a quota for women not promoted on the basis of their ability, but their gender. OK, let’s suppose this becomes accepted. Every board throughout the land MUST have a quota of women. It won’t stop there. What about transgender – neither man nor women? OK, we now have a precedent, so there needs to be a quota for transgender. But the grouping of transgender with lesbian, gay and bisexuals (LGBT) as a pressure group for their interests will mean that they will all demand (and get) a quota too. When each board has its quota of male, female, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender board members, what if they are all white? So we will need quotas Afro Caribbean, Chinese, Arab etc. etc. etc. But what if these are all Christian? Throw in a quota for each religion and where are we? We will be in a world where you will need to just tick all the gender, sexuality, race and religious boxes in order to become a member of a board rather than any measure of merit. Don’t worry though; any organisation that goes down this road will face ruin in a very short time.

I doubt it. Clegg is a lying useless racist traitor and once farage is in the spot light, Cleggs views will be pulled apart as wrong, false and just negative. Real treachery will be after the general election when all three arseholes will get round and debate in or out. Once that begins, UKIP will be our only hope, You can not run campaigns on false information like Labour and the other twats always do. The facts show them wrong on everything they campaign on. And Britain will vote to get out by a large margin. then what for Labour, And where will all their racist voters/supporters go then?
Did you see i didn’t use a big letter when I said farage, clever hey, it makes him look less important, I am so smug I could just shit!

  134. 134
    Biased Broadcasting Corporation says:

The BBC will ensure that the public gets the message that Farage is a racist and anyone who votes UKIP is racist and that you have to be either mad or a racist to vote for them.

That is the message that the BBC will ensure is transmitted to the masses. Their aim is to stop the rise of UKIP by any means possible.

That’s a technique used by the Labour Jungen, They always spell Tory as ‘tory’ with a samll ‘t’. It’s an easy way of identifying them.

  142. 142
    Biased Broadcasting Corporation says:

They are getting involved in order to make sure that any positive publicity UKIP gets is immediately negated by ridicule and cries of racism. They will ensure that Farage is destroyed on live TV. That’s their political purpose.

So in this debate it will be Cleggy + the Biased Broadcasting Company
+ the Chair Dimbledum + most of the audience V some chap called Nigel

That is 4 to 1 & that will be unacceptable to the majoritory of viewers……

Needless to say there will NOT be a declaration of EUSSR interests BEFORE the start from Cleggy, Al Beeb, Dimbledum will there ?

Is the Polling Organisation going to be the biased leftie YouGov ??

but the upside will be of massive benefit to UKIP giving this biased

They should get Tim Sebastian who is the highly respected and impartial moderator of the well known Doha Debates. He would hold both candidates to the subject. No need for Dimblebore to be anywhere near this occasion.

Perhaps Nigel should call foul before they even get anywhere near a tv studio.

Edited versions will be shown ,with commentators saying how magnificently Clegg ‘ went out to bat ‘ for Europe and got the better of the UKIP leader.
No mention of the fact that Clegg is in receipt of a EU pension that is conditional on his slavish adherence to their every utterance will be allowed.

The BBC know exactly what the future holds if the left of centre political consensus fails. And it doesn’t include the BBC.
Administering fair play but cheering their boy from the front seats works if the outcome of the match isn’t in doubt. With their preferred contender on the ropes & fading, the referee’ll be kicking the challengers legs & throwing marbles under his feet every chance available.

    Biased Broadcasting Corporation says:

Sorry, but if you think the BBC is going to let a bloke who has publicly ridiculed their beloved Barroso et al in the European Parliament have a fair crack of the whip, you are wrong.

An inconvenient fact ignored by too many EU supporters:

The world does not start and end at the EU borders. In fact life is much more vibrant in a business sense beyond them. As a global trading nation with historic links all over the world we simply should not be shackled to a sclerotic and bureaucratic monster like the EU, even if it wasn’t riddled with corruption and nepotism. Just as exit from the ERM heralded a bright new dawn for British business 20 years ago, so would an exit from the EU which is an answer to yesterday’s question and not a particularly good one even then.

Yes I agree JGM2, you are quite correct, but at one point they (limp dims) stood for a straightforward In/Out referendum.
Realising they would lose that if put to the general public, they then changed to a referendum if a significant change to the constitution was advocated, knowing full well that the last Lisbon Treaty made that highly unlikely.

  174. 174

    Quixote says:

I note that Clegg has already started to attack the man rather than address the issues that he is meant to be debating. I suspect that he will continue in this vein during the actual programme. He receives money from the EU subject to his continuing to promote its interests and not in any way critisise its actions however dishonest or illegal they might be.

Does not the BBC also get funds from the EU. Are they provided subject to similar conditions?

George Galloway says of his former Respect candidate the UKIP MEP turned Tory, Amjad Bashir…

“Clearly Bashir does not have any real political principles or commitment, only naked opportunism and self-interest. He represents the revolving door principle in politics. The Tories are welcome to him because he will cause them embarrassment. Fortunately Respect was able to act before he did it to us.”
