VICTORY: Tim Yeo Deselected

CCHQ:

“The South Suffolk Conservative Association have voted not to re-adopt Tim Yeo MP as their candidate for the next General Election.  Selection for the South Suffolk constituency will be opened in due course.”

Yeo sobs:

“It has been a privilege to serve as MP for South Suffolk since 1983. I will continue to work for all my constituents until the General Election next year. I am immensely grateful to all those Conservative Party members who voted for me to continue as their MP. I now ask them all to campaign for my successor with the same loyalty and dedication they have shown to me. I will give my full and unqualified support to whoever is chosen as the candidate here in South Suffolk. I wish him or her every success.”

82% turnout. Tories not releasing vote breakdown figures. Bye!

One evening last week I was looking at a copy of
Punch magazine from *1970*, and it had a bit in there about pollution,
and how it was all a lot of fuss about nothing, blah blah blah
children love playing in oil slicks, blah blah blah the countryside is
an invention anyway and therefore an oil refinery is no different to a
field of wheat, blah blah blah hysterical elite, blah blah blah an
acceptable price to pay for economic progress.

I looked the author’s name up – Peter Preston – and he was only the
bleedin’ Grauniad editor from 1975 to 1995!

A MERE 36 YEARS LATER he’s writing this:

Turning to the MP, Anne McIntosh, the Speaker said: “If I may – I don’t want to embarrass you – say it is further reflection of the very important work you do here on behalf of your constituents and others. You are a fine chair of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee and we much appreciate the work you do in this House.” Mr Bercow added: “I hope the cheers for that proposition will be noted in the North of England.” Mr Bercow has to be perceived as neutral in the chair

Please let us know when the impartial Speaker also comments on Yeo

Hypocrisy thy name is Ken says:

Another little gem in Preston’s Grauniad piece.

Of course Ken Livingstone knows that black cabs are bad for your health. “Taxis are responsible for 24% of fine particle and 12% of nitrogen oxide of road transport emissions in the centre of London,” he says.

This would be the same Ken who clocked up thousands of pounds worth of taxi fares on Londoners’ tab. The same Ken who famously took a 234 mile taxi ride from Blackpool to London. Was that one in a diesel, Ken?

Well done to all for exposing this man’s venal conflicts of interests plus his utter disregard for his constituency.

If only Labour in Kirkcaldy were bothered about Gordon Brown’s idle ways!

    The good folk of Suffolk
    Said we’ve had enough, folk(s)
and voted to deselect him, Ho! Ho!

  74. 74
    Dodgy Geezer says:

…To elevate him to the Lords would be to devalue the whole honours system…

It will also devalue the whole concept of democracy. Yeo hasn’t jus failed to get in at al election – he’s been positively turned out by his constituents.

To go back to them and say ” That oik you kicked out for being crap – we’ve made him a lifetime politician..” sounds like insult upon injury…

  75. 75
Oooarrr local oik in Huntingdon says:

Djanogly MP in Huntingdon could be on the de-selection list. A caught-out trougher who spied on the previous election agent. Watch for this.

George Galloway says of his former Respect candidate the UKIP MEP turned Tory, Amjad Bashir…

“Clearly Bashir does not have any real political principles or commitment, only naked opportunism and self-interest. He represents the revolving door principle in politics. The Tories are welcome to him because he will cause them embarrassment. Fortunately Respect was able to act before he did it to us.”
