Meanwhile Lord Greaves went all crackers and compared the situation to Apartheid and the Troubles, suggesting that if Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley could reconcile, so could the two camps in this fight. As the unelected male peers and greybeard former leaders slog it out on the airwaves, one person this story is really about has quietly holed Rennard’s excuse for not apologising beneath the waterline:
