Media Movements: Metro Loses Pol Ed to PR

Metro Political Editor John Higginson has quit the Lobby for the dark side at Westbourne Comms. A loss for the extremely well read free-sheet, that has high levels of access thanks to its wide circulation. A hack leaving journalism for PR?  It will never catch on…

Pragmatic, practical politics grounded in common sense will give the Tories strength. Let Labour get lost up its arse with their retro commy rubbish in which our only aspiration is to have a few quid off our gas bill and nothing else. Labour’s energy policy is nothing more than creeping communism with vision to renational everything. Red Ed remains stuck in the pocket of the Unions and it reflects badly on him!

come on – think of it:

the event managers/pr fantasists work out who should be seen to attend (and what price they should pay) the press publish the handouts as ‘fact’ and have the bonus of reporting on those who pretend to be ‘gobsmacked’ by not invited

nil cost ‘news’, in London AND a nice little earner for the licensed church

what are the pubs like in outer mongolia? a bit like they are in London these days?

Both the Metro and the Evening Standard are newsless shite. Cost nothing but one always feels robbed of time

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
