Croydon Labour’s Domestic Violence Fight Too Close to Home

A noble campaign by Labour’s Croydon North MP Steve Reed against domestic violence. Reed has just announced he is hosting a “Men Against Domestic Violence” evening in January, where he will outline his local party’s principled stance against wife-beaters. That would be the same Croydon Labour party who recently signed up ex-Tory MP Andrew Pelling as a candidate. Ouch.

Standing in front of an ambulance having a photo taken isn’t a ‘campaign’.

Politicians who go in for these patronising gestures are an utter waste of time.

Here’s a game doing the rounds: entitled Dumb & Dumber

What you have to do is pair up politicians with their earlier counterparts or other idiots. So:

Vince Cable = Gordon Brown+Ronnie Biggs
      Ed Miliband = Gerald Kaufman+Wallace
      David Cameron= Edward Heath+John Major
      Barak Obama=Jimmy Carter
      Boris Johnson=Barney Rubble
      Eric Pickles=Lord Lardarse
      Nick Clegg= Peter Mandelson+David Miliband

      Ideas welcome.

And what about violence against men, even men selected for female only short-lists, even men who apparently have yearnings for Brazilian ‘artistes’?

I’d love to see how you’d fucking react if you got up early to go through some emails, found the computer keyboard and mouse all sticky and then were confronted with the homepage of giantblackwangs.com – and the culprit was your husband! And people wonder why I hate men.

    A Chap says:

20% of the reported victims of domestic violence are male. Nothing like 20% of the budget is spent on helping male victims of domestic violence.

It is likely that the proportion of DV victims who are male is actually higher, but with no practical help on offer to them, why would they bother to report it?

It is incredibly rare for a woman to be prosecuted for attacking a man in a domestic setting.

      Battered husband says:

      Tell me about it.

We live in a society which fundamentally believes women never do anything wrong, and therefore if they are found to do anything wrong it must be society that is making the mistake and not women.

Apparently within a decade scientists will have invented a robot which will be able to give a man as good a screw as he will get from any woman.

When this robot is massed produced women will be obsolete.

does that explain Sally Nugent and the BBC obsession with female presentation of increasingly (contra to market forces – but shit it is the bbc) female sports – Attendance at Womens FA cup Final even with largely free admission less than 3500!

I get fed up with having to reset my Google News preferences so I created a new category and called it Morris Dancing. It managed to come up with two items, both from the Grauniad.

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
