7.2 mill to cover up the fact our MPs have no fucking clue?

The sad thing is their SpAds are clearly as out of touch as they are. What a waste of money.

    Rubicube says:

Why should we elect anyone who needs a special adviser?
Once upon a time the Civil Servants were the advisers and they were usually people who had experience. Whereas the special advisers of today seem to be still wet about the ears.

    NHS

Key elements of the new Section 17 effective from July 1 2013

An annual calculation of motoring costs and a twice yearly calculation of fuel costs.
Removal the Public Transport Rate (currently 24p) replaced with a Reserve Rate which will be 50% of the single rate (33p in July 2013).
The full mileage rate to be paid on journeys for training.
Pedal Cycle rate to rise to 20p a mile. ( the Tebbit rate )
Motor Cycle rate to rise to 50% of the single rate (33p).
Carrying bulky equipment 3p a mile.
    Passenger allowance 5p a mile.
The single rate calculation will also be used for reimbursing staff for attendance at required training courses. Currently this travel is reimbursed at the lower Public Transport Rate.

*I hope the inland revenue know of this ” Benefit in kind “

67p per. mile! Are they all driving Bentleys?

    • 27
      FFS says:

67p per mile. 1 mile per minute. That’s £40 per hour.

I should give up the nursing a just drive around a bit.

    • 29
      Tom Catesby says:

Of course the inland revenue know about this benefit in kind, they’re probably claiming it!

    • 36
      FFS says:

£0.67 per mile. So if you are driving on the M4 at 60 miles per hour, that’s a mile per minute. That works out at £40 per hour driving. And that’s not taxed. So its worth about £60 per hour gross.

Why wouldn’t you just look for excuses to drive up and down the motorway all day?

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
