Difficult to look upon France summoning US Ambassador re spying claims as other than a distraction from his pressing worries on the economy and flight of the rich from there. However, there is also a substantive point.

How would you unpick this? (Meanwhile I shall consider ways to unpick that flesh-coloured underwear…)

        Casual Observer 4 says:

My de-pick. I think is connected with the current trend of apparent global de-Americanization.

The US already suffered a blow with France earlier this year over Syr!a, so perhaps this is a little bit of tit for tat. It is worth recalling the rather disparaging remarks made by US business man as well regarding tyre factory.

The ECHR smack down of EU !ran sanctions, which were requested to be put in place by US, is also telling of a growing emboldening of the EU to stand up to US foreign policy demands. This could be a miscalculation as the European assumption is based on their perceived weakening of US position.

Would point more to the moves in Ch!na which appear to be preparing to credibly displace US Dollar as global reserve currency more than the ambassador. The EUR-CNY swap deal currently going through speaks in part to this, but Ch!na has been quite bold itself in criticizing US wrangling over debt ceiling, to point of stating that Ch!na is considering ceasing purchase of US debt.

So back to France, then French are seeking distraction from domestic problems, irritated with US for not assisting them with reclaiming territories in Levant with oil reserves and are simply being ‘French’.

But the US is being beaten up a bit at the moment. If you hop on twitter and have a look at what the liberal left retards are up to, it is beginning to look a lot like what the lefty Labour retards have been up to in the UK.

UK it is: Vote UKIP, US it is: Vote Teaparty :-)

I agree substantially with what you say about France but that leaves the other issue. I see it as a curse on both houses.

US is seeking domination in a way which makes the British Empire (for which I make no apologies BTW! ;-)) look benevolent. Much of this was pushed through as a reaction to 9/11 but has acquired wings of its own.

When something works and you have an elite controlling things, they are inclined to say: That worked – let’s try a bit more! They will keep on trying until they meet serious resistance and then they will use the cover of War on Terror, or similar, to justify the unjustifiable.

This stuff goes with the territory of being Top Dog. In the UK, we now apologise for all sorts of things now for which, in some cases (stressed), there is no need to apologise at all.

The extraction of shale gas in the US has given them another gasp but the inevitable will happen and they will lose their grip. China will not last nearly as long as Top Dog IMO.

But it is time the US stopped thinking it can do what it pleases in matters of NSA data spying especially as it effectively has de facto control over the internet via ICANN, notwithstanding it’s supposed independence from US government.

My view, of course, but I suspect others might agree.

          • Casual Observer 4 says:

The uni-polar order with US as top dog is unstable. This is very well known, recognized, understood, accepted, embraced etc.

The US does not want to be seen to be in that position as it invites competition – competition which it could lose. Suspect they are deliberately standing to one side in order to allow others to catch up, peacefully, so as a multi-polar world order can be established. Possibly quadrupole.

Control of the internet: There is nothing stopping others from developing their own protocol standards and interfacing. This is likely going to happen. That would provide what governments really desire, which is a way to control who can access where, and would also break ICANN monopoly as addressing would become regional with government controlled buffers in between.

That would see the net evolve from the open mesh that it is at present into a balkanized structure with common open channels mapping to agreed international organizations and trans-national corporates.

Economic motivation in part for this development is the continued desire for an ability to levy taxation on international routes and reduce current communication bandwidths so as existing infrastructure can freed for other uses.

There should be no apologies for the British Empire by the way. The US empire is trying to remain benevolent, but like the UK empire has succumbed to the whims of influential lobbies which have motives that put the US at odds against itself – on the international stage that is. :-)

          • Fair comment.

I will confine myself therefore to the balkanisation aspect (English spelling! :-)) and make the case that it comes in different flavours. The one that lets other jurisdictions allocate its own numbers and little more, might be regarded as an enlightened variant of subsidiarity whereas the attempts by China, Saudi Arabia and some others to control content is much more problematic.

The problem, as ever, is with the politicians. They think they can control what they cannot. They think it is better to pass new laws when we have more than enough already and simply do not use them. They measure their own effectiveness by quantity and not quality.

Finally, they never follow anything through. Regulation of necessary legislation is as important as the primary legislation itself. That would produce some blank faces in the corridors of power, I have no doubt!

So, the Tories have managed to re-inflate the property bubble and brought us full circle back to the economic insanity that caused the world-wide banking crisis in 2008. It’s business as usual for the Tories and ignore past lessons so they can greedily watch their property portfolios propelling them upwards confident that, when the next crash comes along, we will pick up the bill for them. Nice business if you can get your snout in. The Tories are not only greedy, selfish and self-serving, they are positively dangerous. With a bit of luck they will make themselves completely unelectable for the foreseeable future
