Briscoe and Clifford Plead Not Guilty

A busy morning in court today for defendants that regular Guido readers will be familiar with. The barrister and part-time judge Constance Briscoe has pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice over the Huhne case and Max Clifford has denied 11 sex related charges dating from 1965-85. Denis MacShame will have to plead next month too…

This is where having quotas gets you, as opposed to appointments on based purely on merit.

Your link to Dave’s Nappygate is from 2007 – hot news !.

Reading it should have told you, as he hasn’t a 15month old son. this would have been his Ivan, who has since died.

    Nice one Guido.

I heard it mentioned last night on QT so I am happy to read the link.
What a despicable thing to do…..not in the league of the crimes against the likes of Hugh Grant, of course.
Never heard this mentioned during Leveson, did anyone else?

          Biased Broadcasting Corporation says:

Along with the criminal Chris Huhne, and anyone else who the BBC thinks shares its own repellent worldview.

Unbelievably, Radio 5 Labour gave Nicky Campbell a further hour this morning to preside over a Daily Mail hate-fest with its own carefully selected anti-Daily Mail callers, with Campbell occasionally chipping in with his ‘of course everyone believes in free speech, but ….’ (not this kind of free speech) disingenous sub-text. I only hope people can see this concerted attack by the BBC on a right-leaning newspaper for what it is – PURELY POLITICAL.

          • Leamas says:

I listened to that and was interested to hear one of the first callers, “Art”, who seemed to be suspiciously well informed about the Mail’s failings, of which there are many, and strangely for average callers to this show was kept on-air for the best part of twenty minutes.

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
