Tory MP Demands Ed Sacks Ken For Boston Bombing Slur

24 hours after Guido reported that Ken had blamed America for the Boston bombings on Iranian state television, and still he has escaped reprimand. Tory MP Brooks Newmark has now written to Ed demanding he be sacked from Labour’s NEC:

“I find it wholly reprehensible for Mr Livingstone to link the Boston bombings to Western intervention in the Middle East. In doing so, he suggests that the actions of the two Boston bombers were justified and excusable. I am sure that both you and the Labour Party agree that terrorism, which in this case killed three innocent people and injured many others, is never justified and never excusable.

He also intimates that America itself was responsible for the bombings. I am sure that you will also agree with me that the only two people responsible for the bombings were the terrorists themselves.

As a member of Labour’s NEC, Mr Livingstone has been placed in a position of responsibility and influence within your Party. As leader of the Labour Party, I call on you to condemn these disgusting remarks and remove Mr. Livingstone from your NEC. I know you will want to do so as soon as possible to make clear that neither you nor the Labour Party condones such beliefs.”

Your move, Ed…

get rid of them all says:

Ken has a point, it just 100% doesn’t need saying in this context because firstly we do not know (yet) the motivations in this case and secondly – and more generally – it is so obvious to anyone with half a brain that if powerful nations wage war via bomb and bullet against a particular region of the world then some people in that region or who share the predominant religion might get a bit pissed off and start doing things like this.

the fact less of them were doing it before is neither here nor there, this is about the here and now.

I recently read an item by Michael Scheuer on the difference between ’cause’ and ‘motivation’ at:

Maybe Ken and Brooks should have a read just to be clear in their own minds?

Except the attacks on the US embassies, the attack on the destroyer with suicide boats and the twin towers/pentagon/white house attacks came BEFORE either Iraq or Afghanistan.

The first world trade centre attack was in the 1990’s.

The hatred of the US has been a whipped up by arabs since the 1940’s.
When the US intervened in Egypt to stop the UK and French/I-zzies The Egyptians were proclaiming that US warplanes had bombed Cairo and 10,000 people killed.

There were no bombs on cairo. No casualties and the US had not a single military unit involved in any way.

We all know, but forget, or choose to forget, that the new spark for Islamic nutterhood came from Iraq war one and the Saddam invasion. It was US bases on sacred Saudi soil and infidel women driving Humvees that sent the beardies into religious meltdown.

Now, clearly , Iraq 2 was an attack for political and economic ends and has inflamed an already angry religion, with quite a lot of justification, but the attacks on America came before the attacks on Afghan/Iraq.

  36. 36
    Fruitcake racist says:

Britain was quite safe from attacks by Muslim bombers until B LIAR poked his nose and his monstrous ego in Iraq and Afghanistan, that bastard and slimy chancer Campbell are responsible for the deaths of thousands.

  38. 38

The poor guys and the 441 others have died for nothing, together with all those injured.

  39. 39
    Fuck Off Dave says:

When will any M.P. have the guts to ask Camercnut the names of the dead soldiers at P.M.Q.s one week after the lying bastard’s “never forget them” crocodile tear statement, when the fucker hasn’t got the names on the notes the SPADs cobbled together for him?

The dead & injured in Boston were no doubt completely innocent of any wrongdoing, real or imagined – can the same be said of the rest of the populace who have over the years added to the coffers of the IRA & assisted in various acts of terror on the British mainland ? 41. 41

Doesn’t matter much, its just politics.

A while back, ineffectual Ed, used to call for either a judge-led inquiry or a resignation every week. It was a way of disguising Labour’s lack of any policies. It was so common that many commenters here joked “Wesign! Wesign! ” to any comment made by another.

Then CCHQ got fed up and decided to play the hypocrite party at their own game and so now any gaffe, U-turn, out right lie by the reds is given an extreme overreaction, self important, Guardian style tirade of morality.

It achieves little, but it has stopped Ed calling for a cabinet head each week.

Whilst Ken is a bit premature in linking the Boston Bombers in this way; notwithstanding that, he does have a valid point.
How on earth are we (the West) to expect international respect when we behave in the way we have and probably in the way that we still are.
I am certainly no fan of Mr. Livingstone, but I do think in this case his demonisation is not warranted.

While, for some reason, the press have not printed whole text, it is possible to find some quotes on web.

“Very often, people get incredibly angry about injustices that they see”.

“They would have been reading about the torture at Guantanamo Bay, at Baghram airbase. They would have read stuff about how, I think it is 54 different countries secretly collaborated with America for this rendition — people being snatched off streets taken to be tortured, because the Bush regime believed that they were all potential terrorists.”

“There was such ignorance in the Bush White House about Islam and about the history of so many disputes that exist in the Middle East. People get angry — they lash out, … It’s the whole squalid intervention that has disfigured the record of the Western democracies. I think this fuels the anger of the young men, who — as we saw in Boston — went out, and, out of anger and demand for revenge, claimed lives in the West.”

  74. 74
    Pentangelis says:

Probably very rarely, but it quite gratifying sometimes to be reasoned – not too often mind you!

George Galloway says of his former Respect candidate the UKIP MEP turned Tory, Amjad Bashir…

“Clearly Bashir does not have any real political principles or commitment, only naked opportunism and self-interest. He represents the revolving door principle in politics. The Tories are welcome to him because he will cause them embarrassment. Fortunately Respect was able to act before he did it to us.”
