Max Moments: Clifford on Paedophiles

MAX-MOMENTS

In “Read All About It” Max Clifford recounts his work bringing the likes of Gary Glitter and Jonathan King to justice, making clear in no uncertain terms his disgust for paedophiles. On Glitter:

“Max punched the air in triumph when he was sent down.

‘It was meant he was known for the vile sick person he is and that wherever he went parents would watch out for him…despite the tightening up on the law relating to paedophiles, it remains very difficult to get victims to testify. Many paedophiles are rich and powerful, which sometimes wrongly helps them get away with it.'”

Yesterday afternoon Clifford was charged with 11 indecent assaults by the Savile cops…

But there is nothing to indicate that the Clifford accusations have anything to do with pedophilia. This innuendo mixing Clifford with Glitter is disgusting and a reason that people like Guido should be controlled. Guido is probably doing what his master Murdoch tells him.

70 & 14 seems monstrous. 22 & 14 seems wrong, but not quite in the same league. How do you gather evidence for a crime which took place in 1966 and was not reported to the police until 2012? Seems tricky to me unless we are using Salem justice.

Clifford isn’t one of my favourite people but I can’t help thinking this is all part of a witch-hunt by Plod to justify all the expense of the investigation, just as in the hacking enquiry. The CPS have justified charging Clifford using the words “in the public interest” which is usually shorthand for “the evidence is minimal, but let’s see if we are lucky enough to get a conviction.” They only ever use the public interest excuse after a case has been thrown out at court in order to justify bringing proceedings in the first place.

Would Plod and the CPS consider any action if the alleged offender was a nobody who had been accused of groping a young woman forty years previously? I don’t think so. Just look at the CPS excuses for dismissing allegations against Muslim grooming gangs.

This could be a case of malicious prosecution because of the high profile of the defendants.

I never thought I’d see myself defending a twat like Clifford. Just shows how low our politicised Police and CPS have brought our Criminal Justice System.

          • We are certainly going to have a bunch of inhibited kids growing up in this climate of fear nowadays.

God alone knows what we as a community are storing up in terms of crime brought about by repression.

My growing up was defined by what I did not know rather than what I did but from about 13-14 upwards the boys would play with the girls and vice versa without any actual sex taking place because we were all either too naive or too frightened to take that final step.

Even in those days, in that state of relative ignorance, we joked that a father would be proud of his son if he came home and said he had had his first woman but the same man would be furious if it were his daughter who said she had experienced her first man.

NH was accused of a sexual offence by some bint who was eventually found out liar.
      However

MC went all public with the story in the Scum in the first instance … The dirt was thrown. Now – could it be that the scum worked hand in glove with MC to ‘throw the dirt’ in the first place. Remember once the dirt is thrown / published by the likes of the scum [e.g. Hillsborough] it tends to stick in the shallow minds of the scum readers …

So did MC enter into some imbroglio with the scum whereby both publicist & publisher knowing full well that it was a load of bollox – made a financial killing for both of their common causes?

I’d have been tempted to discount that story, BW, were it not for the fact that there actually was an episode of Rumpole Of The Bailey, back in the 1980’s, in which a wheeze somewhat similar to that which you’ve proposed was attempted. I suspect John Mortimer, in the courtroom part of his career, may have known of one or two instances of a collusive suit, presumably neither as party nor advocate himself, and so he wrote about such a scam for the show, thinking most people would brush it off as just a fanciful plot from a light-hearted “sleuth” show. Of course, if anyone would know of such a case as would involve dealings between people from a subspecies of the publishing world and a subspecies of the personal-representation world, you might think it would be Mortimer. Was he hiding something in plain sight here? It’s not so far-fetched as one might have initially thought. Maybe he was basing it on an apocryphal silk’s Urban Legend or something– like the much-renowned bill for an accounting prayed for in Equity between two thieves; maybe– but in two industries like media and personal repping where large amounts of liability insurance are written, you would think somewhere along the way two parties could try to whipsaw the insurance carriers and split the dosh. So I lean more to the possibility that he was telling more than just myth here.

It was ALWAYS/IS an offence to have any sort of sexual relations even if it does not involve “penetration”(in the absence of such it would be the lesser charge of indecent assault” rather than “buggery” or “rape”)with a minor(i.e. under 16 in case of female and 21 in case of a male prior to 2000 when it was lowered in line with heterosexual age of consent to 16)so yes the law is retrospective in these cases.

Passage of time or quoting the different sexual mores pertaining at the time of the offence is not a defence in law

In my student days 20 some years ago my student union was very keen on promoting gay rights. My best friend was “accosted” in the student union bar by a rather persistent predatory homosexual. My friend promptly dropped him, and was dragged up before the student union committee for fighting in the bar. My friends response – “I’m only 20 and he was trying to carry out an illegal act with me. Do you really want to appear to be supporting that?”. The homosexual age of consent at the time being 21. The student union decided to drop the matter.

Now, had anything happened would it be possible to prosecute the “child abuser” now, 20 years after the event, even though such an act is currently legal?

Too many people are duped into ‘thinking that because its not a criminal offence today that it doesn’t matter. When a criminal charge is laid – for months thereafter the prosecutor has to disclose to the defence ‘all material’ which is detrimental to the prosecutions case.

However – the charged person IS NOT normally shown or privvy to the damning material that is detrimental to the prosecutors case. The damning material – is especially if it makes the criminal system look stupid ‘silenced’ / ‘kept quiet about’ by “both” the prosecution and defence barristers.

I have proved the above – because when I acted for the ‘Defence’ in a criminal case – the damning evidence which would have led to the gross embarrassment of the police and CPS and a few judges and magistrates – WAS WITHHELD from me. Said evidence HAD IT BEEN DISCLOSED – would have meant that the case ‘could not have been’ brought to trial or won on day one of said trial … but as so many legals had lied (to protect a bent system) – they were not going to ‘admit as much’ – the defendent was falsly found guilty and convicted by a jury who were duped and lied to by both the judge and the prosecutor – because they “WOULD NOT ADMIT THAT THEY HAD BEEN MADE MONKEYS OF”. The defendent btw had been ‘allowed to walk out’ of the trial by the judge at an earlier (same day morning hearing) abuse of process of the court hearing where the judge ruled contrary to the law and was told that his ruling was being appealed. The judge ignored the right of appeal and brought on the trial UNLAWFULLY – hence the defendent walked out. The case continues and the embarrassment for the legal vultures CONTINUES.

There is disclosed material on which the prosecution case is relying on and this has to be disclosed to the defence. There is also undisclosed material. This is evidence and information that the prosecution have gathered and which they feel has no relavance to either the defence or prosecution case. If the defence wish to they can apply to see all the undisclosed material to check that it is not helpful to their case.
You seem to believe that the police bury all evidence that is favourable to the defence. This would be a criminal offence. It is the sort of bollocks spouted by anti establishement loons who bore everyone to death with their apparent innocence of one thing or another.

The point was being made in response to a previous poster who suggested that the greater the number of accusers, the greater the chance of guilt. Although this argument would seem to have some superficial statistical validity, it misses the point that when the police trawl people looking for accusations, and anonymity plus compensation is in the equation, the claim of increased statistical validity is decidedly shaky.

Your counter point about asian gang members is therefore wholly irrelevant. None of us know anything specific about the accusations or the accusers. The point is one about the spurious use of statistics.

I do not like Clifford either nor what he stands for nor even the way he has dealt with evidence in the past but these are totally unrelated matters. I do not believe that anyone should have a better or worse standard of justice based on whether we like or approve of him or not.

We have not seen any evidence yet but the impression that has come out from this enquiry so far is that the police are attempting to make up for what their clear shortcomings were previously. Since, as with every other instrument of the state, they have become so politicised, one can well imagine that the need to be shown to do something is more important than any considerations of justice. Pendulum effect. Take care of where it may lead.

The whole modern celebrity culture invites people to come up with accusations from the past and to have come from his age one is presumed to be guilty, certainly in the public perception, before proven innocent.

This is not wishing a different standard of justice, just an honest take on how justice operates in the UK these days.

Now if Cl!fford had put his energies into fixing that rather than running with such developments through his career, then the UK could be a better place. He will reap what he has sown.

In the meantime, the big cover up which is Yewtree / Fernbridge / Fairbanks needs to start having some real tangible results. To your point on politicization of the police, that is another dirty little development which needs to be fixed.

The service has got a whole lot further to go though to absolve itself of past sins. The police should be regarded as still being on probation by the citizenry.

What people should remember is that each day a number of children are being abused in state run facilities by people known to be abusers. There are also p3d0 rings in operation which are known but are being ignored.

That is the reality of police / prosecution / social services failures, and there is nothing to suggest that the sick status quo has been adjusted for the better yet. It will never be 100% perfect, but doubt that known problems are not being dealt with is unacceptable.

I have no idea to what the extent of state-run facilities harbouring p4edos have grown to but, given the ethical descent that we have witnessed over the last decade or more in just about every aspect of public life, I imagine it is horrendous.

So the response to this by the police is to pursue incidents that are almost half a century old exactly because that will create more media column inches than busting some person in a children’s home who is abusing kids right now. This is what resource should be concentrated on. Now!

This is the classic Appearance over Reality situation which stinks every bit as much as the wrongs which went on in Labour’s long miserable years of misrule, maybe more so. So in that sense it is not partisan but is driven by the seemingly unthinking critical mass of the nouveau establishment that Labour installed when they tore down the old guard. Such was their perceived success that the other two parties moved onto their ground.

It really does call for a landmark change in British politics. Will UKIP ever be able to live up to that? It is such a big call. The problem is that there is a whole generation of value-free people now in charge of all these areas of civic life, not to mention in the banks and other areas.

I think they are pursuing the historical as part of a cover-up for the ongoing.

This is not directly their doing.

US State Reports confirm that UK is an end-point for child trafficking and trafficking within UK borders is a problem. Not sure of the exact rationale behind this, but the bottom line is that there is something fundamentally wrong with a society in which this is allowed to take place.

Agree that the excesses of liberalism are a big part of this, and certainly something went very wrong under the last Labour government with respect child protection. (Hodge as children’s minister was one of Blair’s sickest jokes…)

Would be unfair to expect UKIP to be able to sort everything out, but am fairly certain that with some straight talking libertarian’s in power a large chunk of the rotten core could be removed.

I am currently reading Charles Moore’s excellent “Authorized” Biography of Thatcher Vol 1. Even at school “Margaret” was convinced that she was always right…one anecdote I particularly liked was the one where she had been invited back as Guest of Honour to her old school Kesteven Grammar Scool for Girls at Grantham in 1960 just after she had become a MP. As background she was not partial to the Head Mistress a Miss Gillies who had stopped her studying Latin and told her that she couldn’t apply to Oxford because she hadn’t got Latin. Margaret of course nothing daunted got the local Catholic Priest, a friend of her father who was A Methodist Lay Preacher to teach her. She of course passed her Latin Exm and was successful for Oxford. She conveniently forgot that the Head Mistress actually relented and also taught her Latin as well and lent her her own books. At the Speech Day the Head Mistress got up to introduce Margaret to the assembled school and gave a Latin phrase as part of it. Margaret got to her feet and in front of the whole school pointed out to the Head Mistress(who had actually taught her most of the Latin that she knew)that she had given the wrong tense in the phrase and she clearly was not proficient at Latin…only Thatcher could do that…priceless.

I spent 10 years as the most incompetent chancellor this country has ever seen. I sold off all our gold reserves for a fifth of their current value. I inherited a healthy economy from the Major regime and spent us into more debt than we have ever been in peacetime. I increased welfare payments to such a level that millions of Labour voters were disincentivised from ever working and were abandoned on the scrapheap. I colluded to bring millions of immigrants here thus ensuring that wages for working people remained low I gave responsibility for banking supervision to the FSA and ensured they left the banks to it. My actions were responsible for the banking crisis and together with my overspending left the country paralysed with debt. When Bliar left me at the helm in 2007 I realised the country was fucked and we went into recession. Instead of dealing with this responsibly I spent even more money buying votes to try and win the 2010 election.
When I realised I had failed I went back to Scotland. I hardly ever bother attending Parliament now but still claim my salary and vast expenses for first class travel to London on a regular basis.

Must have been tricky for her, being a Police man’s widow, who’d been blinded while working doing his duty as Police man, perhaps that’s why she engaged the services of Max Clifford? Unfortunately some of the things the press printed in regard to the unfortunate Police man Mr. Rathband seemed — a bit callous after he became her publicity agent. Hey you don’t think …

It would never occur to the Plod to go after the public-relations man who, on behalf of the estranged widow, besmirched the memory of a man who lost his career to the act of a violent psychopath whilst in the course of his regular tour of duty, whatever his shortcomings as a husband or dad (if any) may have been off “The Job.” No, Max Clifford had his job to do, and they have theirs, and never the twain shall meet, unless somehow there are other forces at work here– hey presto! There ARE! This persecution, not “prosecution,” is, of course, all the doing of Margaret Thatcher, who, feigning senility, masterminded this diabolical attempt to silence the reliable lifelong Labour supporter for his early-1990’s embarrassing of the Tories over all the NHS mismanagement which took place during her time in office. Now that she is dead and cannot be touched by this, which was her fiendish plot all along, the police are being used as innocent dupes in this ultra-cynical attempt to pay off old accounts.

As smear material goes this is nothing as to what has been going on in the LIBLABCON of late.

Until one of UKIP turns out to be Jimmy Savile re-incarnated then they can try with the smears, but no cigars.

      To recap:

      Labour:

Hodge: Dodgy Tax / P3d0 cover up at Islington
      Harman: PIE
Andy Burnham et al.: Mass murder on the NHS, and a credible attempt to ban Frosties.
      Tony Blair: War criminal
      Jack Straw: Racist war criminal
Gordon Brown: Mental, and signed Lisbon Treaty
      Ed Miliband: No policies.

Lib Dems: Various sexual offences by many up to and including ‘casting couch’ auditions for female candidates. Holocaust denial, perverting course of justice, general lying, major historic cover-up of child sexual abuse by ex-leader Smith. Huhne also arguably FUBAR’d UK Energy policy single handed, which to be fair to Osborne has been the unmentioned local factor working against economic recovery, culminating in nearly running out of gas last Winter, and steel manufacturers closing down remaining plant in the UK.

Conservatives: Various fit-ups and being completely out of touch with the people, yet willing to sell out completely to EU, redefine the meaning of marriage, and failure to repair the economy. Moreover, numerous cracked cast iron promises, child abandonment in a pub, and being so completely pathetic that many are leaving for UKIP already.

The attempt to re-introduce licensing and direct government control over the UK free press is one of their greater sins.

UKIP have a lot to beat given what the mainstream parties have been up to.

‘Farther to the right than the Tories’ is now barely grazing the centre.

However, it is important to agree on what ‘the right’ means. There probably is a real ‘left’ — people associated with the Labour party and other socialist or Marxist organisations; presumably Jimmy would agree with that. However, members of this ‘left’ use the term ‘far right’ as a boo-word for people of their own tendency who have deviated from their accepted ideology, such as the Nаzis and the ВΝΡ. The original ‘right’ is the old high Tories, and the prewar parties in European countries that would have given themselves names such as ‘Agrarian’. The two groups are utterly different.

National Socialism has always been a political movement of the continent and could never really establish itself in this country. Agree with most of this with these couple of observations:

Your boo-word remark is well made but it does not stop there. When do you ever hear a socialist speaking of a moderate right? It has to be far right as anything else does not contain sufficient exaggeration for their heavy-handed hyperbole diet. This can be applied to their recidivists or indeed to anyone else on the political spectrum, so it would seem.

The term Agrarian has undergone semantic shift in recent history and, paying heed to context, you would be talking in the sense of its earlier meaning.

General Richards in the Sunday Times to-day has also warned Cameron that he risks a general war in the Middle East if he does anything and that a no-fly zone is a pointless exercise as the Syrians have so much military hardware(mobile missile launchers etc)that they could not guarantee that they could get 100% of them otr take out the Syrian Air Defence systems and that it is inevitable an RAF plane would be shot down. In addition Cameron has told Obama that for the UK to fly missions out of Cyprus that the US has to put in Patriot Missile defence shield to protect island and UK airbases against scud attack from Syria.

Obama has also been told by US Military Chiefs of Staff that they would require a minimum force of 70,000 boots on the ground.
