Why do socialists hate Thatcher so much and yet have little adverse opinion of Frau Merkel? Both were the first political leaders of their country. Both were from humble origins. Both were chemist graduates. Thatcher’s policies led to higher unemployment but her reforms of unions and the obsolete, cash-guzzling subsidies of many heavy industries were needed. Merkel, now the undisputed leader of most of Europe, is now the person most responsible for policies that have led to such high unemployment (much greater than Britain suffered under Thatcher) and the kind of austerity measures in many of the poorer countries of Europe that make Osborne and Cameron’s ‘austerity’ look like refusing to have a final ‘waffer-thin’ mint after an orgy of eating.

New York is to London as Boston is to Liverpool, in relative size of city population as a whole and as far as Hibernian heritage in the population goes. Perhaps a greater number in absolute terms, but the percentage is lower. (Roughly 450,000 in a city of 8 million, NYC, roughly 125,000 in a city of 650,000, Boston– but at least an equal number in surrounding towns of Boston, inflating their influence even more.) As a result, the “professional-Micks” stand out more in Boston.

The combined wealth of the top 200 people in list is £318.2bn which is more than eight times the figure 25 years ago. There are a record 88 billionaires in the list – compared to 77 last year and just nine when the rich list started in 1989. Of the top 10, 9 owe their wealth to money accrued abroad, which is not subject to taxation here. The only British national to make the top 10 this year is of course the Duke of Westminster who incidentally also receives welfare benefit in the form of several hundred thousand pounds a year common agricultural policy set-aside payments for doing nothing.

If it had been aimed anywhere within 10 yards, IT would have been adequate to disorientate him, to arrest him, unless you intended to leave your target with nothing but scrambled egg for brains, So he could not defend himself, (the stuff of Hollywood movies) w fact is certainly stranger than fiction, they sure succeeded in shutting the 2 of them up end of trail, too neat by far.

All right, Clappy, riddle me this:

Assume they are working for the FBI knowingly– first of all, why them? How naive do you suppose these men would need to be to volunteer to do such a mission, and for what motive? What hold does the FBI have on them specifically? Only someone who is looking to protect someone else (a loved one/family member) from harm usually embarks on what can very soon become a suicide mission. Remember, “the Secretary disavows all knowledge” if you are captured or killed. You had better hope they don’t renege on the promise not to allow harm to your object of concern once you’re out of the picture.

Say they don’t know it’s the FBI they’re working for– why does the FBI want to pull off something like this operation, and why are the FBI using two lambs to the slaughter? And is it the FBI as an institution, or agents acting on their own initiative? And who is it the two mugs thought they were working for, if they don’t know it’s really the FBI? It would have to be someone plausibly with dosh and connections, unless the two really were naive. How many people would need to be in on such a ruse? It might not be effective to spend a lot of money and manpower on two idiots whose mission will be to plant IED’s that have no guarantee of mass slaughter– grievous injury and terror perhaps, but not slaughter on a Ft Hood/Colorado cinema/Connecticut primary school scale. Why not use guns? The gun-control issue was up for a vote in the Senate the next day! The Fibbers might want a disarmed US population, the better to terrorise them, and try all the more to stack the deck! With the added fillip that the two could be shot dead on site!

Don’t get me wrong, Clappy, I like the idea that you don’t buy everything that’s being put out there for public consumption. But sometimes a conspiracy theory is too clever by half, too. Some shit just happens, and some shit is planned out in advance, and some shit planned in advance goes awry when other shit happens, and sometimes shit left to chance works out in your favour better than you could have hoped for. And don’t forget, things which, seen from your viewpoint, seem random, may not be completely random, in that its happening right at that moment in that particular way may not be planned to a “T”, but conditions creating the hazard were certainly put in place to allow it. You have to come up with an explanation that EXPLAINS something. I always try to do that.

did anybody else notice the fine photoshopping the sun carried out for maggie’s funeral? you know the thatcher woman? ariel view of the procession in london with the cranes still on the shard building – which as we know was finished a year ago – the sun photoshopped the crowds of the jubilee celebration and superimposed the maggie funeral – such talent – such propaganda – such fascism

thanks for that. i saw the word tat and immediately thought of the painter vladimir tretchikoff… not that i personally think it is tat but i know many people do, quite possibly because of the period back in the day when many a home had a print of one of his paintings on their lounge wall. so why am i thanking you? well i googled his name to get the url of a great website about him only to learn that one of his paintings recently sold at auction for the bargain price of almost a million quid. frankly i am very very jealous of whoever bought it and will have to make do with one of his prints that has been there with me through thick and thin.

this one is for fat dave he might not agree or have agreed but his name lives on regardless says:

i reckon in the future 3d printing tech will enable people to have textured reproductions of paintings aka great art scanned with a laser that registers both the topography of brushstrokes but also pigment colour on a pixel scale from which 3d prints could be produced. might sound far fetched but if you told people thirty years ago that come the year 2010 people would be walking around with star trek style communicators that could grasp movies, music and pictures out of the ether, take photographs and was also a telephone etc etc they’d think you were bonkers.

it’s this sort of stuff that could liberate as away from that nefarious beast known as “possession” (whom possesses whom exactly?) in that people could potentially be able to experience interacting with almost every type of inanimate 3d object (or even animate object, eventually!), be it having a tretchikoff on their lounge wall so exact in replication you could stroke it and feel the brushstrokes or watch any movie or television broadcast that has ever been created in it’s full original format (youtube have started to allow people to upload 4k resolution vids despite the fact virtually no one has a 4k enabled screen!). as for vinyl music people would go beyond ripping them to digital audio formats for sharing to laser scanning their collection so that people could simply 3d their own copies. always fancied a lamborghini countach? download the plans, 3d print the parts, put them together and that’s that. throw in some sort of tesla style free energy from the ether power source and all that downloading and energy for printing becomes ridiculously cheap. the only costs would be the materials probably supplied in granular form.

it is just a pity politicians can’t get their shit together and see just how fucking epic the future could be, one where people represented themselves and needed a minimum amount of governance. where people could trade between themselves without banks getting in the way with their power plays and fucking things up. where people were inspired to contribute art and design and invention and to live the dream, a dream that they are free to chose rather than have it poured down their neck by the mainstream media. could go on, might sound like utopia, unrealistic, idealistic and all that but it beats hearing some rent a spiv mp shyster muntering on about this that policy to counter that this policy of those in power before cos the banks have them all by the throat but they can’t say that cos they’d get deaded and even worse! look weak and if they look weak no one would vote for them! bunch of egotistical twatters. here comes the virtual global community whether you like it or not :)

what is stopping it and many other things from manifesting is money. people have lost sight (or sadly never had it) of the fact we are all born equally on this lump of rock and thus should get to share not only its natural resources but also the fruits of our collective exertions that have been developed over the eons. somewhere right now (hopefully) in a rainforest there will be tribes roaming around as they have done for countless years… they build huts, they forage and hunt for food, they medicine using natural remedies, they take no more than they need and it works because here they still exist (just about no thanks to us).

maybe we’ve needed the tussle of this ism and that ism to create the technology and advances in medical care and science but there are a awful lot of unpleasant side-effects and quite how we amend our path i don’t know but one thing is for sure the banks are leading us all to slaughter, maybe we’ve completed our role of doing the graft to cracking the code of immortality or deep space travel and now they are winding things up in a manner where the akashic records absolve them of blame.

take a banknote out of your wallet or purse and just look at it and wonder how the fuck did we ever get to a point where that inanimate non-living slip of paper gets to decide which animate objects aka living sentient beings live or die. it is total fucking madness. numbers of the beast and all that if you are of a organized religious disposition. just check out this website to see just how ridiculous money is… http://www.usdebtclock.org/ it has turned the world into a fucking cartoon and thus people act as if they are cartoon characters, with no morals or respect not even for themselves. people do not need rules or laws or subclauses of this or that paragraph, all they need is shelter, food and medicine and the means to achieve those tenants as simply and uncomplicated as possible. like a one day a week working week for example, where people exchange 8 hours of their toil per week for the roof over their head and the food in their belly and medical care, leaving them free to do what they like with the rest of their time. and most people would be inspired to do something constructive.

feel free to knock holes in this suggestion though i would rather hear people making points as to how it could be achieved albeit with amendments or whatever. course i could just head over to the venus project but i am trying to stay in the wilderness for esoteric reasons ;)

No. I was only letting off steam here.

I really thought it would be nice to quote way above from Principal Caird’s works as he is now only known to a few dozen people and yet he was, like his philosophical brother, Edward, a great writer and a good man.

For me the thought is important whereas the fame of the person speaking is secondary at most.

Nevertheless, I love the words of John Lennon above. They are absolute nonsense but sound so profound. But of course he was much more famous than John Caird.

In days to come, if anyone should Google Edward Caird, this will probably show up as the first page! What a hoot!

Looks like there could be a movement to recalibrate the very meaning of the left right paradigm.

The first I caught it was on the dumb bBBC look at North Korea, when the LSE/BBC/Labour apparatchik stated that North Korea is more like a ‘Right Wing’ state than a Communist one.

Check out this piece of socialist logic.

Firstly, socialism is not communism, nor is national socialism, socialism. You show your lack of intellect by calling Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and Mou Tse Tung ‘left wing’. These people were SO far right wing they were practically falling off the planet. In THIS century, left wing means environmentally conscious, secular, and taking the long view, not just until the next election, to try and cement a sustainable approach for society into the future, something neither of Australia’s 2 main political parties are interested in.
    – Penelope , Australia, 20/4/2013 04:33

This could mean that the left intelligentsia has realised that the game is up and before things go to far and the masses who have been fooled for so long wise up it’s time to get the rebuttal in.

David Cameron on political promiscuity…

“On May 7 you could go to bed with Nigel Farage and wake up with Ed Miliband. Not one bit of that works for me.”

Can anyone help me? I went on holiday a week ago and returned to find someone has pulled out the stake and Gordon Brown is back and acting as Prime Minister. What did I miss? Has there been a snap election?
