The press could then use that to their advantage to highlight hidden deals.

So in effect it gave them the right to speculate, and that generally was worse than the truth. Balance prevailed.

The looniest left wing ideologies were buried long ago thanks to Thatcher. Even Labour stole her policies under Blair and Brown. It was Blair who started privatising parts of the NHS. They even tried to privatise the Post Office. And they kept all her policies of stopping a few union leaders holding the whole country to ransom. Sadly Labour didn’t adopt Thatcher’s common sense policy of not screwing up the economy by spending far too much on the public sector. But you can’t have everything.

Everybody else in South Yorkshire thought the miners were a bunch of thick *unts with a chip on both shoulders and were delighted they were beaten.

The miners still can’t get over it, even though Scargill has now been thrown out of the NUM.

The Nottinghamshire miners had their own vote and voted 70% against a strike.

      Labour’s annual budget deficit = £120 billion
Claimed funeral cost = £10 million

Even if we accept Abbott’s claim the funeral amounts to 0.008% of the budget deficit left by Gordon Brown, the man who signed off on the funeral plans.

Put another way, the £10 million is about 45 minutes of the annual deficit left by Abbott and Labour.
