Victory: Pilgrims Feel the Pain

This is the latest PCS poster lamenting the fact full time “pilgrim” civil servants are being made to return to work:

“All reps including the 2 existing full time TUS officers will spend the majority of their time in line jobs with immediate effect… Banned from using DCLG facilities (emails, desks, the building etc) to issue information to members on national issues inlcuding key material on pensions and the Civil Service Management Code.”

Union leaders are as bad as bosses says:

      Where’s the victory though?

Any union member or lay rep knows full time union officials are the biggest bar to militancy, only rearing their heads to cut a stitch up over a cosy lunch with management or helping management to ‘manage change’.

As has been demonstrated in recent years (in the BESNA dispute or the union blacklisting campaigns for example), the way for workers to defend their interests is to organise independently of their union bureaucracy.

Union laws in this country defend the privileged position of the well-paid union officials. They discourage militant action because the union leaders and buraucrats fear the financial implications of disobeying a court order. The solution? Unions with little or no assets and horizontal structures.

In this, every left wing trade unionist should applaud Huido’s campaign.

and there was no one left to speak for me.

    Bazinga! says:

It’s a total joke that the leftist scum think that there is no link between Philpott’s actions and a life on benefits. It’s also a joke to think that politicians should not be discussing it.

Is Owen Jones suggesting that there should be no discussion over Policing when a Police officer is killed or over Iraq when we were fighting a losing war there?

It’s a cheap trick from the left to try to close down debate on an area that the left think is their home territory.

No one thinks that everyone who claims benefits is a scrounger but the point is ‘some’ people take the piss and exploit the system and the question is should that be allowed to happen.
