CCHQ Say Sorry Over Porn Blunder

After directing thousands of tweeters to an adult website and thoroughly ruining one of their own MPs’ Wednesday mornings, CCHQ have formally apologised to Rob Wilson over that link:

“Our apologies to Rob Wilson for our mistake in passing him a shortened link with the last character missing resulting in a quite different website to the one intended being linked from the tweet.”

An innocent explanation after all…

No wonder Labour are so defensive of Philpott – the children he created as welfare cashcows then killed in his pursuit of more taxpayer cash were products of Labours welfare for all policy.

Your argument is sheer sophistry, Jimmy. It was better left unsaid as it only demeans your ethical base.

You could have made an absolute fortune in the legal profession, though, had you turned your mind to it.

You are quite wrong here my contingent feline friend. It is the attempt to link two entirely unrelated activities (homicide and claiming benefits) for political point scoring which lacks rigour. If, as is argued, Philpott’s only motive for having children was the benefits that came with them then of course logically this is a disincentive, rather than incentive, to bumping them off.

          • I have found this case so grotesque that until the above, I had steered clear even of commenting upon it.

You claim …two entirely unrelated activities…

            Wrong.

The sustainability of his unwillingness to restrict his reproductive tendencies was only made possible because of the benefits system. That was the case before he murdered them and you cannot argue with that with any degree of honesty.

The man is a psychopath, that is abundantly clear from his earlier conviction.

The benefits system has therefore enabled a man to produce and maintain children which, at some point and for some reason unknown to you or me, he chose to expunge in the most callous and frightful way imaginable.

There is no way in which this can be spun in any other way than a damning indictment of a system which has allowed this situation to occur.

I fully endorse Sir William Waad’s straw man charge, which I had not seen at the time of posting my remark some time later.

Jimmy, I spent thirty years dealing with people like Phillpot. I’ve met hundreds like him in my time – dropping kids out to get more child benefit, demanding larger houses to accommodate them, finessing the system to obtain maximum taxpayer funded income, laughing at those who work for a living, etc. Yes, some of them even set fire to their homes in the hope of obtaining a bigger house. Phillpot isn’t an isolated case. I even kinow one of our local Labour Councillors who has spent a lifetime on disability benefits, waving £10.00 notes around at people in the local club and saying they are mugs for working. Supposedly severley disabled but spent every summer working as a chalet cleaner at Butlin’s in Skegness. Too disabled to work (officially) but able enough to become a Labour Councillor without it affecting his Benefits. He’s been dropped a number of time to the social but he’s managed, somehow, to get away with it to this day.

Jimmy, you are either lying through your back teeth or need to get out more.

Of course were your theory correct, men (and I use the term advisedly here) like Philpott would not be sowing their seed so liberally in non-welfare states. The evidence is against you there.

Enabled means to make possible. That is not the same as to create a condition precedent as you will well know. It neither meets the requirements of necessity nor sufficiency. My charge of sophistry, on this subject, therefore stands.

SC, you are far too fond of language to do it such violence. You are also being uncharacteristically obtuse. Two points:

            1. Anthroplogists as I understand it would agree that the male impulse to procreate is primordial. We sublimate it to other priorities but in young (and not so young) males with no such priorities it rises to the surface. It requires no financial incentive (although staying with, as opposed to creating, a child may well do);
            2. Nevertheless assume you’re right, what is the solution? Starve them? Take them into care? Or did Dean Swift get it right?

            Like

          • I agree with your point about primordiality. So as usual we actually have some common ground.

It is in the essence of civilisation to provide for one’s family. I can think of no better or higher cause.

Indeed Ken Livingstone had two women pregnant at the same time who delivered within a short time of each other. Providing they are provided for by him and loved by their respective parents, I have no problem even with that rather unorthodox situation.

Where society fails is when the offspring are not provided for. Where the sex is taken but the consequences ignored on the assumption that someone else will pick up the tab. Not to recognise that is to demonstrate a complete lack of responsibility not to mention human love in its highest manifestation.

In this awful situation, the state can be viewed as colluding in the enabling (the word I originally used – in the sense that I defined it) of this to happen.

In your second question, you throw the onus onto me to answer what are we to do. I ask you back in return: Are we supposed to shrug our shoulders and do nothing?

Because if so, then civilisation counts for nothing and we may as well simply let the unfed and uncared for die as if they were merely plants in a drought.

You appear once again to suggest that male behaviour is influenced by the benefit system. I doubt it very much.

You mentioned the legal profession. I am reminded of the words of Psalm 72, commonly inscribed in English Court buildings whereby judges are commanded to “defend the children of the poor and punish the wrongdoer”. I think it’s a sentiment pretty fundamental to any notion of civilisation.

Look how often the word Mercedes crops up as the vehicle of choice.

It generally occurs that a linkage is found between having more kids and gaming the system better. That sits comfortably (but agree does not directly cause) the male libido to feel unrestrained in “growing the business”. Which was my point.

He would need an income before tax of £90k a year to support his family himself to match his welfare funded lifestyle.

It’s co-ordinated, just look how many lefties are using the same phrases. They are all reading from the same copybook.

Hypocrisy of the highest order. Please remind me who used the murder of Millie Dowler to spread the lie that the NOW hacked her phone. So that wasn’t used for political ends? We use a similar system. During a labour government, our stories are typically something like “The government has announced X. This policy will be brilliant.”

When the same old Tories inexplicably gain power, the equivalent report would be worded “The government has defended plans to X. Labour says… (cue 10 minutes of soft soap with Ed Balls)”.

I can’t believe we get away with it sometimes. But we do. So fuck ‘em.
