          Lord Mandelbum – her attitude is very labour. Enough said. What she is saying is that she needs her £70 a week (paid for by the taxpayer) to carry on smoking and drinking off the state.

          If she’s so broke, why the f**k doesn’t she give up smoking? It’s a £6 a day habit.

        Symptoms. Do you get it yet. Stop fixing symptoms that are wrongly diagnosed as a cause, by the NHS measurement culture.

        Removing pubs and discouraging social (with oversight) drinking is one of the biggest recent failures in society. The pub was the escape for many.

        Drugs: the biggest use of life altering drugs is via the NHS. Mood altering drugs have been to widely used and have destroyed many people, especially children.

        As for obesity that is the classic example of the measurement target culture of the NHS. How can a system exist that classifies athletes as obese? How can an equation with length and weight have a squared term in it? Only a brain dead organisation would use a equation that was created at the birth of statistics, hundreds of years ago.

      No point shooting civilians in my experience only causes problems later. These people need leadership, discipline, and a sense of self respect for doing a job and doing well as part of a team. All these things are provided by the Regimental system of the British Army. The current situation is the result of shoddy leadership and poor quality officers, seen a hundred times. All those chaps in the Army that have been paid off (myself included) could do the nation some further good by taking these people under wing and getting them off their backsides and getting some much needed work done in the land. From what I’ve seen since I got back the whole place could do with a clean and lick of paint at the least. I know this kind of waste gets chaps on this blog all hot under the collar but if they are our people we need to make the best of them. Of course once the idle f_ckers are in the Army and refuse orders that’s a different matter!

    Former Soviet Dissident Warns For EU Dictatorship

    http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/865

    Vla dim_ir Buk0v ksy, the 63-year old former Soviet dissident, fears that the European Union is on its way to becoming another Soviet Union. In a speech he delivered in Brussels last week Mr Bukovsky called the EU a “monster” that must be destroyed, the sooner the better, before it develops into a fullfledged totalitarian state.

        Sounds scary doesn’t it? Until you remember that the Russians are a bunch of total fuckwits that couldn’t run a borscht kitchen. Inevitably by filling the EU with former failed communists like Barroso the moment the EU got any power it was doomed to failure. As soon as Maastricht was signed the end was in sight. Hasn’t taken long has it?

        Of course what you really need to ask is “why are Labour, the tories and the LimpDems so keen on the EU???” Because they are a bunch of pathetic public-school Marxists as well that would happily sell out their own compatriots to anyone given that they totally despise all of us. Look at Thatchers private papers that were released today – turns out that most of the Tory party were aligned with Labour and thought British citizens should be sold out to the facists running Argentina.

        British politicians are the biggest bunch of pathetic Marxist public school w*nkers outside of Cuba.

      EU Technocrat says:

      The EU have four workstreams leading to full integration. Each are on different timescales e.g. Budget planning is over 7 years but elections are every 5. These are designed to produce radical change within a few years. The 4 workstreams are

      * Financial Framework especially banking and monetary union.
      * Budgetary Framework
      * Economic policy co-ordination
      * Democratic legitimacy / accountability

      Its plain what is planned. There are elections next year (see #4) but you can’t change the budget as it has already been agreed for the next cycle. And if you want to change it you need to have a longer attention span than the majority on here.

    Are there real benefits cheats who the government ought to go after? Yes.

    Are there real issues with a multigenerational benefits culture which encourages living off the state? Yes.

    Is there a need for more training, more opportunities and also some hard home-truths for these sort of people? Yes.

    But, even with all that being true, this government’s policies are wrong. The folks at the bottom, frequently genuinely-disabled individuals through no fault of their own, are now being forced to live on smaller and smaller amounts, to the point where their quality of life is radically lowered.

    Milton Friedman has so frequently been unfairly treated by those on the left and portrayed as an unfeeling monster. That is wrong and untrue. But Friedman pointed out time and again that there would always be these people under a capitalist system and that these individuals required the charity of private individuals. Where is this support? Where is the ground-swell of support for the very worst off? This should not be a Labour-policy point, this should be an opportunity for those on the Right to demonstrate once and for all their principles of compassion and mercy for the worst off.

    A drive on websites like Guido’s to help these people is well overdue – regardless of what politicians do or don’t do, these people deserve our help.

      It’s been said better than me, and by better than me, that the reason that the benefits state exists is so that the Pollys and Owens and Lauries of this world can give their money to charities that are not about alleviating the causes and effects of poverty. (e.g. Ed and David Miliband’s “educational” foundation, which pays for universities to hire Leftie professors like their father was). This salves their consciences, to know it’s all of us paying for that old cow’s fags and booze (whilst they’re engaged in hypocritical tax-advantaging), and means they don’t have to deal in their minds with the question of whether there is “bang for the buck” with the programmes that such charities as do engage in poverty-related services are involved with. Such real-world considerations don’t chime with their view of the world, don’t you know?

      The reality is that Doreen’s story, even though it was satire, had to soften the blow of the reality.

      The woman in the interview above is a fascinating case study in the damage which Marxism inflicts on both society and the individual.

      She gets only GBP 142 over two weeks to spend on fags, booze and shopping. By my estimate per week she probably gets through 1.5 packs, a couple of four packs and perhaps 4 liters of cider. The rest is on food and the rest you need to run the home. Her biggest expense is probably washing powder / toiletries and the electricity key.

      Ok – she likely does get the house etc. for free, which is a different story.

      If the state wishes to keep her for GBP 70 a week that is fine. She is unemployable in every other sense of the word at present.

      Am not a big fan of the welfare state, or examples like the above, but that is what Labour created, and the reality is in her case change is likely impossible. That is not altogether her fault.

      Letting in a bunch of similar Roman!an and Bulgar!an scum next year is not going to help matters though.

          Taxes is not the problem the fact is that we have in certain areas a class of people who do not work and have no intention of working.

          don’t worry the guardian thinks everyone should be allow a free house and loads of benefits, but pity the poor taxpayers who have to pay for them.

          Soon taxpayers are going to quite rightly question what their taxes are being spent on and the waste that occurs.
