WATCH: US Obama Critics Attack Falklands Policy

The US hasn’t always been staunch in standing with Britain over the Falklands. Even Reagan had to be handbagged by Thatcher to do the right thing.

Our friends in Washington have produced this history lesson for Obama…

      I d i ot says:

The Tories appear to be missing the basic fact that there is no incentive for small business to employ people and make profits

Employing people is too risky. At the extremes, a small company could employ a school leaver and is then responsible to pay wages, social costs and pension contributions for the next 70 years if the person chooses to carry on working. or at £300 per week £1,092,000 (thats without inflation)

Employing a school leaver is a million pound commitment

You assume the average school leaver could perform those maths calculations.

Excellent and well presented so that anyone that believes in democracy and free will will obviously follow the islanders decision from the referendum! I guess that means Obama will threaten them and the UK to hand them over to Argentina then!

Actually, I wish they would vote for quasi ‘independence’ and direct rule from Brussels.

It would be good riddance to the constantly whining, semi-communist McParasites, too. Let’s hope the Shetland Islands declare independence from Jockland at the same time and take what remains of the oil from the Jockanese as well.

          Dave says:

We didn’t always have the parasites here… The impression is that the further north you go from the Watford Gap the worse it continually gets, it’s not that way at all.

Where I live in Lanarkshire there’s a whole nest of socialist/greedy/lazy people, but they’re not really present outside of the Glasgow/Edinburgh central belt and even then we’re better than the grim north of England.

The Shetland Islands and so on are very much opposed to independence from the UK and might even refuse to go with Scotland if it was to happen.

It isn’t happening though, and when the vote is over and done with I hope it’ll get people to get back to normal.

Sadly though when any group of people gets large enough a few malcontents find it easier to blame the group than themselves.

Barack Obama (President of the United States) says:

Through the grand sweep of history, through all its twists and turns, there is one constant: the rock solid alliance between the United States and the United Kingdom.

The reason is simple. We stand together and we work together, and we bleed together, and we build together, in goods times and in bad, because when we do our nations are more secure, our people are more prosperous, and the world is a safer, and better, and more just place. Our alliance is essential. It is indispensible to the security and prosperity that we seek, not only for our own citizens, but for people around the world. And that is why as President I’ve made strengthening this alliance, and our alliances around the world, one of my highest foreign policy priorities. And because we have, I can stand here today and say, with pride and with confidence, and I believe with David’s agreement, that the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is the strongest it has ever been.

And so in the sunlight of this beautiful morning, with children from both nations in attendance, we reaffirm the enduring values in which our alliance is forever rooted.

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
