Ed Miliband will make a speech on Thursday that Labour spinners have trailed as one to watch. The Staggers dutifully report that “the Labour leader will make a major speech on the economy, outlining his party’s priorities ahead of the Budget on 20 March”. Rather awkwardly though, party foghorn Christine Quigley has let the cat out of the bag. The Labour hack turned Edelman lobbyist has been emailing colleagues in an attempt to drum up sympathetic attendees from the public affairs world to come along to the speech:
“Ed Miliband is going to make a ‘major’ speech on the economy on Thursday. It won’t have any new policies in it, but the plan is for Labour to release two or three big economic policies over the next couple of months.”
Quig, the cat’s out the bag!
