Quote of the Day

  1. 1
    Tuscan Tony says:

    Prince William has one.

  2. 2
    Yawn! says:

It wasn’t the tories right to sell off the social housing and not replace it, which has lead to the problems today and has been increasing over the decades. Instead of paying low rents for post war council houses that more than paid for themselves, we now have to pay greedy landlords – in my area double that of social housing rents at least.
But let’s keep punishing the people for the greed and corruption and massive mess made by governments and their banker and business buddies.

I knew Guido would jump on the everyone’s a scrounger bandwagon when he sold himself out to the sun. The system used to work fine – now everyone and their extended family from foreign lands feel they have a right to it and that’s not who it was designed to help.

  3. 3
    Yawn! says:

A paper that employs tits, uses tits to sell itself and is read by tits.

  4. 4
    goldman sucks says:

bear in mind that the tory head of the local government association justified the exemption of ‘granny flats’ from the community charge on the grounds that the decision kept families together

with thinking of such standards to what can we look forward?

  5. 5
    Tuscan Tony says:

    What’s not to like?

  6. 6
    Ed Miliband says:

Join the Labour party and get to meet and socialise with utter bellends like me, Ed and the posters above.

  7. 7
    chris1943 says:

Oh do shut up you rambling lefty ****

  8. 8
    I'm bored says:

I suppose people in slum social housing with a spare bedroom could let it out to some scummy hack from the Murdoch empire….

  9. 9
    LB says:

Yes it was. They were in power. That’s the problem with UK democracy. When a party is in power, you’ve got fuck all choice with what they do.

  10. 10
Socialism is a severe mental illness says:

“It wasn’t the tories [sic] right to sell off the social housing and not replace it

That’ll be “Thatcher” again, will it? Back when? A quarter of a century ago?

Never mind. We’ve had 13 years of Labour since her. Surely Labour ‘replaced’ it? They had lots and lots of money. And 13 years. A long time.

What’s that you say? Labour didn’t replace it?

And they flooded the country with a tidal-wave of benefit-scrounging immigrant parasites?

Gosh. No wonder there’s no social housing.

Damn that Thatcher! It’s all her fault!

  11. 11
Tony Blair (godfather to one of Murdoch's kids) says:

People who support the scummy Murdoch empire are simply dreadful, aren’t they?

  12. 12
    Blairbrownscum says:

Now they cannot let all those spare bedrooms to Romanian and Bulgarian families!

  13. 13
    Blowing Whistles says:

Are 649 spineless, sub-intelligent, moneygrubbing, hypocrite, bending over to the lenders corralled sheep – going to prove on Tuesday beyond all doubt that they

“do not” act on behalf of their constituents, as is the ‘will of the people’ that the people by majority do not consent to gay marriage?

  14. 14
Ed Miliband, noted NFL tipster, says:

In the Super Bowl, I took San Francisco less 3 1/2 points, and over 47 1/2 points.
I want them to shellac Baltimore. Those nasty Baltimore bastards beat my Patriots, and I want to see them lose 100-0, and that’s how I’m betting it!

We’ll know by 4 am (or so) whether I’m right or not. Of course, win or lose, you’re not going to get a good day’s work out of me on Monday. (Not that you ever do anyway.)

  15. 15
    Meatspin made me dizzy says:

The Dead Tree Press – doncha just love it?

The taxpayer funder queen and MPs have spare bedrooms too. I wonder if they will lose any money? No? Didn’t think so.

Is it true the Cameron gets a hard on every time one of our troops dies in Afghanistan?

  16. 16
    Blowing Whistles says:

I see this is another one of them private little blogs – not up on the main OO website – how interesting.

  17. 17
It woz Guido wot won it says:

What will guido do when murdoch flips to one nation Labour? if it’s obvious they will get a majority that is.

  18. 18
you must be 'avin a laugh says:

are you saying that conservatives need a party to build up state assets for them to then asset strip for votes
and the right says the left cant do economics

these assets took more than 13 years to accrue and a blink of a corrupt eye to deplete

in a limited supply (due to factors not fully listed) the huge cost of housing benefit to private pension funds etc has robbed the country
    look at the figures

  19. 19
    jules says:

Quite right…and nor is it their right to have a house funded by taxpayers. There are plenty of hardworking young people who would pay for this social housing. I suggest buying some sheds from B and Q and placing these people who want their ‘ rights’ in fields, miles from the respectable majority. Or we could send them on assisted passages to the ex-colonies.

  20. 20
    Conrad says:

State ‘assets ‘ as you put it are paid for by money taken away from people who have worked for it or in the case of people who receive dividends for example have risked their money in a speculative investment .This money is then inefficiently and usually wastefully spent in a way that the party in power judges will gain them the greatest political advantage regardless of the real needs of the country at large.

  21. 21
    Dr Evil says:

Nothing to do with allowing families to excessively reproduce with little consequence apart from increased benefits and bigger houses?

  22. 22
    Bass says:

Chris Huhne has a spare room…

George Galloway says of his former Respect candidate the UKIP MEP turned Tory, Amjad Bashir…

“Clearly Bashir does not have any real political principles or commitment, only naked opportunism and self-interest. He represents the revolving door principle in politics. The Tories are welcome to him because he will cause them embarrassment. Fortunately Respect was able to act before he did it to us.”
