Sorry to be a pedant and I am sure I will be condemned in the most absolute way for asking it, but could someone outline what it is he has said wrong. I am sorry I just don’t get it. If someone could point it out then perhaps I will and will not therefore make the same mistake. PS it is that I agree with what he said but nor can I see what is so offensive about it.
I think there are two factors here: Firstly, although traditionally fairly relaxed about racism, to be fair most righties (and there are exceptions) would accept that the holocaust may have been overdoing it a tad and there is a tendancy at times in rowing back to overcompensate occasionally; the second factor is that our increasingly diverse society has brought righties into contact with ethnic groups they hate even more, making jews seem comparatively quite tolerable.

Well firstly this is a free speech issue. Are we saying this representative of the people isn’t allowed to express his opinions ? I don’t accept PC restrictions on free speech.
Secondly as a friend of Israel (at least the majority that hasn’t yet been hijacked by freeloading religious nutcases), I say there are issues to be addressed over Israeli treatment of Arabs. In many cases Israeli treatment of them would be considered a war crime if it had occurred to Bosnians and the aggressor was a Serb. That is just a statement of fact.
So overall, I would say, let him speak out freely, but let him be subjected to tough questioning – e.g. how the human rights record of Hamas gay-killers is far worse than anything than Israel has done.
Part of the problem here is the “Holocaust Memorial Day” – a wholly artificial construct foisted on British people a few years ago.
The total number of UK citizens who died in the Holocaust was something like 300 if I recall correctly. Horrible but no more horrible than (roughly) the number who died in 9-11 and – as far as I know – we don’t have an official 9-11 remembrance day.
Of course anyone of any sensibility recognises the appalling – immeasurable – tragedy of the Holocaust, perpetrated by the Nazi ideological movement (rather than the German people – since it included plenty of non-Germans who signed up to the Nazi plan).
But it was not our tragedy. To pretend it was is dishonest.
If we are to remember the Jews of mainland Europe, are we to remember the Armenians, the Darfurians, the people of Namibia exterminated by the Germans, the Aborigines of Australia, the Greeks massacred by Turks, the Native Americans of the USA, the natives of South America, the Tibetan people, the Christians of the Middle East…?
