BBC Foreign Editor Won’t Be Missed at ABC
Rejoicing over at the Beeb as Foreign Editor Jon Williams announces he is leaving and heading to ABC.
A “vile, shouty, aggressive man – we’re all delighted,” whispers one colleague to Media Guido.
Bye bye, then.

I will have to check out The Guardians advertising pages – see how much his identikit replacement is costing TV taxpayers*
* I don’t pay the TV Tax.
Ditto, TV Tax.
Snap.
Who says this bloke is posh?
how do you get away with not paying the telly tax?
Don’t pay it. Ignore the increasingly shrill letters. Refuse to let any inspectors in when they call, which they won’t.
And most importantly NEVER sign anything. Best, as soon as they have identified themselves, close the door without saying a word.
Yank dream? Isn’t ABC the Australian Broadcasting Corporation? Its as nutty as our one.
Now 3 years in myself, easily done and feels great.
Me, too, since my telly was deactivated by the State in the switch to digital.
My digibox cost a tenner.
Was he a lefty? a sozi? did he wear sandals? ride a bike? have a villa in Tuscany?
So, one down, thousands more to go
Who?
A “vile, shouty, aggressive man – we’re all delighted,”
Did compose good theme tunes though. 633 squadron. Star Wars. ET. And Superman
Actually, Ron Goodwin composed the 633 Squadron theme. And 633 Squadron was the inspiration for the attack on the Death Star.
Probably a Tory, and that’s the real reason they’re all so happy.
My thoughts exactly!
Never heard of him on BBC so he must be one of the very few right wingers that have been outed.
A more interesting article would be to ask some of the governments supporters exactly what amount of evidence would be required before they consider admitting they might have been a little bit wrong……at the moment I’m just astounded, everything they said would happen didn’t, everything their critics said would happen did……..and they then say it’s evidence they haven’t taken their plans far enough…
I mean, are they so arrogant that no amount of evidence would ever make them see that cutting demand in a stagnating economy isn’t an especially good idea?
Or is it something else, that they know how wrong they were but can never admit too due to the professional cost?
I take it you didn’t buy any shares in the autmun and are not enjoying the benefits of seeing the rise in the stock market.
Former BBC man fails to get come-uppance due to him
Free labour for Tory Party donors and lower unemployment figures thanks to Workfare, the Work Programme, and zero hours contracts. You’ve got the economy you always wanted, but how long will the plebs put up with it before the riots start again?
Someone needs to remove George Osborne from his role and fast, before he does any more damage. Who will do it? Us?
Has Louise got much on at the moment?
What do you lefties not understand?. ‘There is no money left’ spoken by one of your own, there is no cash cushion stacked up waiting to be used for a Keynsian boost. There is INCREASING debt still thanks to the tragic years 1997 onwards.
Listening to Question Time answers on BBC 4 today a visiting Martian would believe that the whole country is left wing and Labour supporters.
Dimbleby and BBC have given the task to young polite lady gatekeepers that they believe will never let right wing thought cross their path, and people will be always polite to them. Stalin would be proud of them.
thats the look, the look of love.
That would have to be Cameron who removes him and this seems unlikely seeing as they’re in this Machiavellian plot together – Indeed they were loudly guffawing whilst eating pizza last night with Boris (they’d know the score already).
Cameron said if he renegotiates the right terms for Britain in the UK he will campaign passionately to stay in the EU, so are we to assume that if his renegotiation strategy fails, he will campaign for the Britain to leave the EU? This is a very important question which he point blank refused to answer both after his speech and when Ed Miliband asked him today in PMQs in the House.
The question is totally irrelevant as even Ed the bandwagon must know.
Cameron is giving us all an in/out referendum Ed is not.
Referendum means everyone, democratically has the chance to vote which I know is a difficult concept for socialists to understand but even the thickest plank should eventually work it out.
All BBC bosses are vile shouty people… thats a management requriement for the “top”. Thats why the current reviews of bullying procedures in the BBC will go no where…every senior boss would be damned by a transparent report.. just wait, there will be so many confidentially agreements put forward as a reason to hide the truth that the reviews will be meaningless.
COVER UP is the name of the BBC game.
He had sensible vision for the job though…wanted to focus resources on the growing economies of Asia.
Yes he was shouty but is that the worst thing in an organisation like the BBC where civility sometimes trumps efficacy
Williams’ biggest problem was Alex Crawford who scooped the BBC on numerous occasions under his watch.
ITV and Sky scoop the BBC repeatedly in coverage of foreign affairs.
And home affairs.
And politics.
I mentored him and wish him well in ABC
Description doesn’t fir the Williams I know. He may drive people hard but he’s a passionate and driven journalist, believes in quality and accuracy and practiced what he preached. Big loss for the Beeb.

They say that to your face?
You didn’t know Gordon worked part time for the BBC. Shirley not!!
So is the Foreign Editor is boss of the Europe, America, Middle East and Africa Editors or is it just what’s left over? Or does he manage local news outside the M25?
To which ABC is he going? Is he going to ABC or is he going to ABC?

Interesting that Common Purpose cannot spell Israeli – they must be a product of Bliar’s edukashun regime.
2 words – good riddance !
