Quote of the Day

Malcolm Rifkind was less than impressed by Ed comparing himself to Maggie:

“He has as much claim to mantle of Margaret Thatcher as Silvio Berlusconi had to that of Julius Caesar.”

Ed would do well to compare himself to the school boy in the Inbetweeners. Both are not funny.

The ‘schoolboy in the Inbetweeners’? You obviously know the series very well.

Why the constant comparison to Thatcher? It’s a sure fire way of losing votes!

      Because she left the country
      in credit. Unlike Bliar and
      Brown. Dodgy wars and a
      busted economy are their
      legacies. We are still paying
      for it.

He can compare himself to Stephen Fry. Both are over rated and good at boring the arse off us.

I am no fan of Margaret Thatcher. But compared to what followed with blair and brown. . .Jesus Christ!

How does that happen? Utterly incompetent people rising to such position of power?

    It genuinely baffles me.

And Rifkind? Thatcher listened to Forsyth rather than him and consigned the Tories to oblivion in Scotland. He was right. But proved Thatcher a tosser for listening to Forsyth!

Owen Jones pays tribute to the intellectual ascendancy of the right…

“In this country, the Institute of Economic Affairs was founded in 1955; the Centre for Policy Studies in 1974; the Adam Smith Institute in 1977. They not only laid the ideological foundations for privatisation, the stripping of trade union power and the slashing of taxes on the rich and corporate interests, but helped shift the terms of political debate. The left has been on the defensive and in intellectual retreat ever since.”
