Sinple. Wait until Ass-flange is airside at Heathrow and then have a couple of FBI heavies grab him. Big sigh of relief from all round, Ecuador doesn’t have to support this unimpressive posturing loser, USA gets its man, UK hasn’t had to invade an embassy and Sweden can relax in the knowledge that its one-sided sexual assault laws have never been subjected to international scrutiny.

Exactly. Just check out Brandon J Raub’s “arrest” for saying that the US government is criminal. Better start watching what we say on here as US law seems to take precedent over everyone else’s.

      • 106
        Julian (not Assange) says:

I don’t think we need the USA to ‘grab’ him. Should he actually go to Quito then Assange will be denied the one thing he seems addicted to – the need for constant publicity.

It is just a shame that all those who ‘backed’ him should now lose the £240,000 bail bond they raised to keep him out of clink, or will Quito cover that as well?

          Blowing Whistles says:

“Mad Mel” (The moniker given the witch by Matthew Norman) has been spinning similar Bullshit in her “comment & highly opinionated” column at the D Fail – just as you do ‘Julian (not Assange)’. Who the hell do you promote ‘bent governments and bent politicians – who have ‘been’ exposed – Have been; being of the “past tense”. It’s the REACTION to wiki that undoes those [Especially deluded yanks] who have so much to hide – while they rally ‘fools’ as their tools in the public.

The issue above all else and that of don’t forget it >”alleged” Rape – is that the US Government ‘has been exposed’ for being liars, corrupt, duplicitous etc etc – They lie every day to the American Public.

Are you so sub-intellectual as to not be able to see the biggeer picture, or are you so deluded as to be singing the praises of bent governments be they western or not? Bent Governments rely on sub-intellectuals to protect themselves.

The US just like the UK – has its own dissidents and the publics [Not the morons who make it into government] in both countries have become very coy to ‘spinning’.

    Sponge says:

As Brits we should hang our heads in shame that we threatened to invade a foreign embassy in London to capture a man who has not been convicted of anything and is prepared to be interviewed by the Swedes – but not in Sweden.

Hague is a fool. We have advertised to the world that we consider it is acceptable to invade an embassy to get someone you don’t like.

Don’t be surprised when Iran / China / Venezuela / Zimbabwe or whoever actually does it.

          Bluebottle says:

The British people should all be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

They have elected a Government which is on the verge of putting back international relations by 500 years whilst the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister holiday out of the country and the nation at home is left in the hands of a Foreign Minister who was got rid off by the ruling party years ago because they realized he was not quite good enough

          • Mornington Crescent says:

“On the verge of putting back international relations by 500 years “? Blair did that by barging in to Iraq on a lie. Do have some perspective, dear.

          • SP4BS says:

you think barging into countries on a slightly dubious pretext takes us back 500 years?

More like 40 years. or 5 years. No actually, quite up to date.

We didn’t invade the Libyan embassy when they murdered a British police officer Yvonne Fletcher did we , oh no we let them leave laughing all the way to the airport

But then again Mrs T did give the go ahead to invade the Iranian embassy a few years later , but let herself down by agreeing to pay for the damage we caused
so invading this little enclave is not beyond the realms of possibility

        Blue remember'd hills says:

Not wishing to be pedantic but you’ve got the chronology wrong..Iranian Embassy Siege = 1980 Libyan Embassy Siege = 1984 AND the SAS were on standby to go in to the Libyan Embassy but just as the police were to hand over control to army they were stood down because at the last minute the Libyan diplomats exited having been informed that they faced a similar operation to the Iranian Embassy a few years before without warning if they did not immediately exit the building and that if sent in the SAS would go in using all neceesary means inc “extreme measures” to effect an arrest and clearance of the building….the politicians though sold out and allowed all suspects to exit country without charge

      • 53
        SP4BS says:

Rather interestingly the people holding the hostages were from the arab part of iran. Separatists. And the British government was helping out the ayatollah.

      • 103
        Sungei Patani says:

The reason we could not invade the Libyan embassy when they murdered a British police officer was because there was no law then that would have allowed us to do so. We could not arrest those Libyan’s who may have been responsible because they had diplomatic immunity.

The current law was specifically passed to enable us to enter an embassy in GB as a result of the Yvonne Fletcher tragedy.

Try addressing the ‘issues’ that he raises – rather than being a Government lickspittal. Let’s make it more simple – address the ‘issues’ rathar than attack the man – with purile and childlike irrelevant smears – which are just what the detractors want to distract the sub-intellectuals into banging on about.

Do you always take your ‘cue’ from the Press & Media lickspittals [spinning Govm'nt lines] or do you have your own thinking mind?

    Bluebottle says:

Mr A arrived in Sweden on 11 August 2010 to give a speech there on 14 August 2010.

He duly gave the speech on 14 August 2010.

On this day he had sex with Miss B who he had met after arriving in the country three days before.

On 17 August he had sex with Miss C who he had met for the first time three days earlier when giving his speech.

Mr A must have been very impressed by what Sweden had to offer him as on 18 August 2010 he applied for a residence permit to live there.

Sometime between 17 August and 20 August Miss C and Miss B spoke to one another and Mr A was mentioned in the conversation.

On 20 August Sweden issued an arrest warrant against Mr A alleging rape against one of these women and molestation against the other.

Mr A is presently wanted in the UK under an arrest warrant for breach of a bail condition which is a serious offence which can lead to imprisonment.

There are a lot more documented facts I could mention.

Do you remember, even in the USA they got the man out of the Country and back to France. I do not want it like that here.

Assuming the dates and shagging to be factual – One has to wonder at what the “REACTIONS” of the two women were when they – ‘somehow found out’ that they’d both been shagged by him? What was their “reaction to one another”? Had they both taken themselves for a ride – or just thought – hey it’s him he’s well known – might as well shag him for a bit of noteriety … ‘Groupies’ – they become a field day for the legal$ – when accusations come out and the erring celebs – have to pay lodsa do$h to the legal$ – to save them …. Its just another legal beanfea$t among many more ruses that the legal$ play out – from behind their cloaks!

Whoever is in charge of spinning against Assange does a sterling job but it’s a pity that the media fall for it every time. Or is it professional jealousy? This man is on our side. Without him we would, for instance, not have footage of a US helicopter randomly attacking a group of people in Baghdad, including a passer-by who stopped to help the injured.

Of course Ecuador is only helping him in order to take a poke at the Americans but, in this case, that’s not the point.

    • 62
      SP4BS says:

I noted Guido (not sure which) quite gleefully saying the SAS should go in. the whole saga is a complicated cocktail (oops) of things that stir emotions. Is it possible to stand back and separate out the facts and emotions about:

      a) freedom of speech
      b) anti-americanism. (anti-american-militarism : would they like us to think there is a difference).
      c) his shiny cock being thrust about the place.
      d) His strange white hair
      e) he’s a horrible horrible lefty.

Being a lefty here, because of (b). Which seems odd these days. When I were a lad it was all so simple, being the slightest bit anti-war made you a lefty, but perhaps thats the greatest achievement of Blair to bugger up that assumption, at least in Britain.

Tom Harris bemoans the public’s attitude to politicians…

“Mr Oborne echoes the lazy, anti-politics whine we hear so often these days, all based on the absurd notion that politicians were once loved and only fell out of public favour during the expenses scandal. He should take a walk to the Strangers’ Bar. But not to sup with the patrons he seems to despise so much, dearie me, no; he should instead look at the paintings on the corridor outside the bar, which depict the devastating fire which consumed most of the Palace in 1834. And he should reflect on the fact that on that dramatic night, as the Commons went up in flames, a crowd gathered on the South Bank to clap and cheer.”

Focus group time. says:

The thing that Dave needs to work out is which group is more likely to vote Conservative. Mad swivel-eyed loons or mad homosexuals wishing to get married.
