It might be silly season but this week still saw an impressive 123,957 visitors visiting 308,205 times viewing 528,432 pages. The top stories in order of popularity were:
Sure Bob. Bell me and I will arrange for my boys to drive you around town in their Bentleys and explain the operation to you. Then they will take you down the Lodge to meet the other key players, senior council officers, senior police, lawyers, accountants etc. If you have a daughter bring her down and I will personally show her how nice it is to live beside the seaside. Jahbulon.
“In the meantime, more and more people within the governing parties have been talking about holding a referendum in Germany on the European Union. Rainer Brüderle, the floor leader of the business-friendly Free Democrats, Merkel’s junior coalition partner, said on Friday that there could come a point “when a referendum on Europe becomes necessary.”
Horst Seehofer, head of the Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian sister party to Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has even called for several referendums. Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble has also talked about holding a national vote on the EU.”
Here we go again with the deliberate confusion between Europe and the EU.
a) Europe is a group of neighbouring countries which would each be capable of getting along perfectly well for themselves if it wasn’t for …
b) The EU which is a malignant cancer that’s sucking the life out of Europe and is run by a criminal cabal, the so-called ‘elite’, for their own benefit and definitely not for the ‘little people’ who they prey on.
You’re all too stupid to have any say on our EU membership.
Obviously, you weren’t too stupid when, as I was desperately trying to become PM, I offered you a referendum. But you’re too stupid now, now that I don’t need your votes. It’s unthinkable that you stupid little people should have any say whatsoever.
Although this will change in the run-up to the next election, when I’ll almost certainly repeat my bogus offer of a referendum.
The question of Sudetenland has turned from a politico-historical one, in the decades following the war, into a cultural one, in the last decade, where the connection of the German and Czech influences, extending over many generations, has proved stronger than Hitler’s (he was actually an Austrian) interventions and where (mostly older) Germans are now re-settling again. Some of these people can trace their roots in Russia and Romania so it is a mistake to characterise them (or Merkel for that matter) as Preußisch, if that is what you are attempting to imply.
I was there just three months ago and talked to many people. The proximity of Germany most regard as a benefit, contrary to what one might be expected to believe.
I have noted that P Eye – have climbed down in this weeks bi-weekly version over Mr David ‘potty’ Potts and his attempt to become a police commissioner under a ukip banner.
But better still there is a lovely piece about The London borough of Barnet!!! and how they just don’t like it when members of the public assert the right to look at the accounts…. reminds me of Wandsworth Borough council and just about every bent council in the land.
Plus – people are now asking questions of Sir John Thomas – President of the Queens Bench Division of the RCJ. Was it a Tchenguiz / SFO ‘ruling’ or ‘judgment’ the MSM don’t seem to be able concur on either?
Indeed not an incorrect analogy. Better still is to have witnessed the Prick attempting to bluff his way through an ‘Appeal against a criminal conviction’ earlier this year at the COA. ‘Contempt … ‘ my Rse – Not when they are in contempt for failing to uphold the law – only to protect their dying trade in duplicity.
Standard Chartered Bank PLC is still an operating FTSE100 company despite allegations that it is a ” rogue institution” and has committed fraud not just once or twice but has “masked more than 60,000 transactions” having “schemed with the Iranian Government for nearly a decade to launder 250 billion US Dollars”
Whilst the UK Press are claiming this is all a US conspiracy to undermine the City of London and Standard Chartered has issued its own Press Release saying that whilst they have done wrong they are not nearly that bad on Wednesday 15 August they are in the Dock to show cause why they should not lose their Banking Licence.
Let us hope the allegations from New York are thrown out as otherwise another PLC Company will be in the brown stuff.
Dangerously too good old Lloyds TSB get a mention in dispatches.
In 2003 they were ditching Iranians bur appear to have said nothing when the business was being transferred elsewhere.
My dear friend I think you are missing the point here.
Standard Chartered are simply playing the game.
If you carry our frauds, falsify and alter documents, and pay scant, if any, attention to national laws then as long as you say you are sorry and pay a whole heap of money you have acquired from your actions as a fine then you can continue into the future.
It is as simple as that and you can rest assured that Standard Chartered will remain a highly regarded and esteemed member of the FTSE100 for many years to come.
Tom Harris bemoans the public’s attitude to politicians…
“Mr Oborne echoes the lazy, anti-politics whine we hear so often these days, all based on the absurd notion that politicians were once loved and only fell out of public favour during the expenses scandal. He should take a walk to the Strangers’ Bar. But not to sup with the patrons he seems to despise so much, dearie me, no; he should instead look at the paintings on the corridor outside the bar, which depict the devastating fire which consumed most of the Palace in 1834. And he should reflect on the fact that on that dramatic night, as the Commons went up in flames, a crowd gathered on the South Bank to clap and cheer.”
I luv Boris.
Honest.

Great Britain, Campbell, wipes floor with Irish, Nevin. One more gold to Great Britain!
It may be silly season.
It’s always silly season when you’re around, Clegg.
(No, I’m not picking up your toys for you.)
You bastards.
It’s so hard to make a dishonest bob or two these days.
Not in Portsmouth it isn’t. Boaz.
Are there any Councillor’s jobs going in Portsmouth Handy? I don’t mind switching Parties, after all you did it and we are in a coalition.
Sure Bob. Bell me and I will arrange for my boys to drive you around town in their Bentleys and explain the operation to you. Nice one Handy. See you soon, it’s a pity Wandsworth isn’t as entrepreneurial as Portsmouth, if that is the right adjective.
I categorically deny that I have picked Boris Johnson to be my running mate for the forthcoming Presidential elections.
My running mate will be Paul Ryan, one half of the sixties duo,Paul & Barry Ryan.
Oy Vey.
Unfortunate choice of subject with similar names. He died of cancer 1992.
Fairly talentless compared with what else was around at the time, as well.
His mother was a bobbydazzler in her day.
I have to use them all the time, dear.
I like Routemaster buses especially when they are cost neutral to the taxpayer just like Boris’s bendy bouncing bicycles.
Thank you Barclays Bank for all you have done for us.
Possibility of German Referendum on the EU grows.

I promised a referendum once, but I think I got away with it.
That’s what you think.
Old Jamaican saying:
A promise is a comfort to a fool.

Agree Lou.
If the neighbouring countries want to form alliances with each other, economic or political, then that is for them. As it should be for us.
They love me in the Sudetenland. We should have a party.

That’s me out of a job then.
A blatant act of another way to kick the can down the road. Now one is prepared to be responsible or take the blame for the collapse of the euro.
These figures are, literally, fantastic, Guido!
God-damn it – mow it’s the bleeding limpy Olympics to follow.

Sir John Thomas? What a prick.

I don’t want to hear on Wednesday that Standard Chartered have agreed to pay a shed load of money to New York State.
What I want to hear is why Standard Chartered’s Banking Licence should not be revoked.
