The Labour shadow Treasury team are having some fun this morning throwing Osborne’s words back at him. Haughty Balls wannabe Chris Leslie has gone on the attack declaring: “Stephen Green has serious questions to answer over investigations into HSBC”. That turn of phrase sounds rather familiar…
Trade Minister Stephen Green was at HSBC while they were letting terrorists and international criminals use their banking services. Though revenge is being sought for Osborne’s Balls/Libor row, it’s not looking good for the BIS envoy.
If the truth and reconciliation game is going to continue though, Leslie might like to have a chat with his more talented and better placed shadow Treasury colleague Rachel Reeves. Reeves was a “business planner” at HBOS between 2006 and 2009. Right at the time when HBOS, as a business, was planning and undertaking their ill-fated £12bn merger with Lloyds TSB.
What did their bonus-earning “business planner” know about this disastrous deal?
What part did she play in ignoring the warnings?

The problem with Rachel Reeves is that it doesn’t matter what she says, whether good or bad, as soon as she starts talking, her robotic monotone drone makes you lose the will to live.

Your elite are so blatant in their contempt for you they have over the last 25 years created a little cosy world of the media/banks/politics that only they, their friends and family can gain access to. All three parties are really interchangable you are just left with a little show election every few years but no change really takes place. As an old degenerate Dago retunring to your once lovely land I can see the changes more clearly than you might. But I would have thought that the Cromwellian spirit would have movtivated a few by now to actually DO something.

Somebody who worked for HBOS should be congratulated for successfully hiding the scale of their bad debt exposure. On the other hand, whoever was supposed to be doing due diligence for Lloyds at the time of the merger should be shot.
When is the Treasury Select Committee going to give a mauling to Balls, Miliband Vadera, Brown and O’Donnell? Is a dead cert that they’ll say: “I’ve never heard of Libor”, “No-one told us anything”, “I can’t remember if we’ve ever met Mervyn King” “What is a bank?”.
O’Donnell strikes me as being a total sleazeball, haul him before a court and force a few honest answers from him on a number of Labour’s cover ups.

There was no ‘planning’ for a merger with Lloyds. Up until late 2008, all HBOS did was continue to play russian roulette with their wholesale markets funding model, testing it unto destruction. Then Gaygordon, having realised that he saved the wrong bank when he took over Norther Wreck, did his famous arm-twisting trick with the clueless Victor Blank, who did about as much planning for the hasty merger with HBOS as I do with my Grand National bets.

Guido is way behind in this one as I posted comments about the inept performances of both the Labour and Conservative Treasury spokesmen both women both promoted way above their pay grade. The Labour one Reeves who worked as nothing useful prior to be a MP was employed as a business advisor by HBOS during the period when the bank was ripping people off for billions. Should she stay or should she go …. How she can stay in office with this in the public domain beggars belief
