I was looking forward to this scrap given the claims that Penny was making (and those jumped up Guardian leader writer and elistist lefty, Nesrine Malik in the Sky newspaper review).

They were nearly supposed to have come to blows. Not even handbags at 20 paces! What a let down. I wonder what’s in her background that makes her behave in such a way, create such unpleasantness and fantasise about agression and others (men) being dangerous.

Penny reminds me of a lot of the lefty staff and union bods where I worked, who complained that they being bullied by their bosses…because they were asked to do their job.

I always found that an accusation of harassment was the first refuge of the incompetent.

A bore compared to that dust-up between the Greek pols.

Don’t be so mean to the dear girl, she might cry, and how would you feel then?

      Alfred the great says:

I think we should judge these people based purely on their upbringings and ignor their arguments completely. Oh wait, no… It’s quite obvious that the jumped up xenophobic Hunt with the sherry glass is blatantly using personal attacks as a means to put across his right wing agenda

Well that didn’t take long (again) did it.
If she can’t take it, don’t dole it, who even asked her anyway?
She’s one of the most self-serving narcissists I’ve ever had the misfortune to witness in public, she seriously sounds like she needs therapy for attention issues.

Try libertarianism or specifically anarcho-capitalism? Then she won’t constantly fall foul of hypocrisy, cognitive dissonance and a lack of basic human morality.

She dreams of being a revolutionary yet marches for greater state power. How many revolutions started with a cry of “More, more, MORE OF THE SAME!”.

      Penny is a left winger

Penny was born in London and grew up in Brighton. She attended Brighton College (fee paying schools). She studied English at Wadham College, Oxford, graduating in 2007.

One of those privately educated left wingers who denounce everything despite never having to really mix with the underclass.

      Laura Barnett says:

American gangsta rap DOES glorify violence, criminality and misogyny. In the UK, badly-educated white benefit-claimants ARE one of its core audiences.

Anyone living somewhere represented by a Labour MP could tell you that.

Business Cat (Specializing in yarns, Cdn owned & op) says:

        It’s more of a sub-culture than a race.

    • 60
Get the facts right before you call someone a racist says:

If he is then so is 75% of the British public….his original comments were not racist at all he was merely asking the question after last years riots why rich white kids seemed attracted to the gangsta culture which is a perfectly reasonable question…….on that yard stick Ed Miliband would be classed as a racist by saying that Labour was lax on immigration

Laurie Penny is an opportunist I thinK.
I would like an examination of the number of people from that part of world who are currently in our prisons for degrading criminal acts. If it is cultural then we could deal with that through education in expected cultural norms.

Silly little girl completely out of her depth. Didnt one of the other contributors call her an embarrassment to the left and and embarrassment to women?

    White Van Stan says:

    Laura Penny.

No life experience at all, unless you count being a spoilt brat as a qualification for leading the working class in class war against their oppressors.

Y’know the oppressors – like Lady Thatcher who gave me and other working class people a way out of poverty – who gave us the right to buy our homes instead of being held to ransom and in poverty by corrupt left wing councils?

Being working class I find it a disgrace that the likes of Penny and that Owen cretin are given the role of representing working class views – THEY ARE NOT WORKING CLASS AND CANNOT SPEAK FOR US.

Could not agree more. They do not speak for the working classes but have successfully conned the liberal metropolitan elite by creating a phony working class voice which suits the establishment’s idea of what they think is working class which leaves two pig ignorant, totally out of touch left wing morons with a platform and a fat wallet to further their own agenda disguised as the authentic voice of the people.

Frankly, those two deserve each other (with Owen Jones deputising when Laurie Not-even-worth-a-farthing is in New York). “Let’s him and her fight! We’ll hold their coats, and charge admission to watch!” The upper-class-twit-sounding poor-boy-makes-good “establishment-type” versus the downmarket-sounding rich-girl-out-slumming radical-poseur! Hey, it’s a natural! Let them get an act together and take it on the road! They’re both drama queens anyway– might as well get some dosh for their performances together!

    Rupert my Hero says:

I do not know if Honour Killings of Daughters and Young Girls was mentioned but that is a cultural thing which has no place in this Britain, however she probably sees it as being acceptable behaviour from Blair’s Immigrants.
Perhaps Sharia might be a good thing after all, if Ms Penny was not allowed out without a member of her Family and we did not have to look at her face, also we could stone her to death, my favourite though would be a Public Hanging or Decapitation, all judging by her views, to be acceptable behaviour.
Perhaps she should be Circumcised, only sew up her mouth.
Loony left Socialism or Old Communism… take your pick

  37. 77
    Snore Vidal says:

    This member of the female human race is just a chancer out to make the most money she can until she is uncovered for what she is ;

a brainless , grammar limited harridan who has not even yet been born and has at least 30 years apprenticeship at the university of life before she has any scintilla of a chance that I for one will even listen to her .

The intellectual equivalent of ( the excruciatingly boring bits of ) Big Brother .
And no – I did not watch that either except for thirty seconds of two people fast asleep in bed ….. says it all . Vacuous . Vapid. Valedictory ( hopefully ).

  38. 80
    Get a Grip says:

Why are lefty views now almost always the property of public school educated upper middle class types? And why do we hear so much of supposed racism? I will tell you why comrades, because we dyed in the wool working class types proved to be unreliable when it came to fomenting the revolution.
So we had to be sidelined, the old rhetoric of ‘what about the workers’ was replaced by endless boilerplate about racism, sexism, an amorphous mass known as ‘the poor’ and the rights of immigrants.
Laurie and Owen and all their ilk are the great class warriors of our times but they would not know a worker if one fell on top of them. And thats the way they like it.

  39. 84
My left foot's a brick says:

Kevin Maguire on the less than electrifying Ed Miliband…

“I bet if you went into a pub tonight and started a conversation about politics you’d hear strong opinions. David Cameron would be out of touch and Nick Clegg despised while Nigel Farage would divide people sharply. Miliband? In a lot of boozers he’d be the fourth most interesting man in British politics.”
