Newsnight Hits Rock Bottom

The TV viewing figures for the first half of 2012 contained one very significant side note: Newsnight has been outperformed by Channel 4 News. A blow to the pride of Newsnight, Channel 4 News had an average of 0.699 million viewers while Newsnight managed only a meagre 0.664 million.

Michael Crick, who was pushed out of Newsnight and went back to Channel 4 News, will be laughing…

Well what does the Lefty Biased BBC expect.

Any normal hard working individual doesnt want to listen to their propaganda, let alone that nausiating Kirsty Sqwaak.

There aren’t many workshy BBC suporters watching it because they are too busy spending their dole money in the club.

        Fish says:

Stratton has obviously brought some of the Guardain magic with her – being used to small audiences as she is.

Clearly Newsnight’s audience do not want to follow it on its recent lurch, even further, to the left.

        Fat Pang says:

There were controversies regarding her closeness to the Labour Party if I recall correctly?

Weren’t Wark and her husband accused of hacking into emails a few years ago?

          Rev. Stinker Pinker says:

You are perfectly correct she is part of the Scotts Labour Clique of wealthy ‘People’s Party’ supporters and did very well out of New Labour. Once Scotland has gone its way surely we can remove such people from BBC? Newsnight has passed its prime and it’s decline is really part of the wider exodus of viewers from conventional tv. I’d be surprised if anyone under the age of 20 watches it unless they want to become a SpAd.

She used to holiday with the previous First Minister of Scotland ,Joke McConnel .
She was somehow involved in the choice of architect for the overpriced and in my humble if erudite opinion, hideous ,over priced Holyrood building.
Please all remember that Edinburgh has many beautiful buildings and at the time there was a perfect ” empty” ready for alteration BUT it was considered too Scottish Nationalist to be appropriate.

They’ve accused him of just about every other kind of treachery. I reckon that the other conspiracy theory was just too strong, and no-one would believe it about Rupe.

    Junius says:

Did you see Nick Robinson’s signing off in his speel on the 10 o’clock news last night? I have never before heard such a one-sided partisan piece of labour speak delivered with such relish by a supposedly impartial BBC emplyoyee – and I have been watching ( and paying for) its left -wing output for a very long time. Is there no end to its utterly brazen bias?

    • 40
      Sophie says:

      Yes, there is an end.

When you stop paying the TV Tax that feeds them.

Do it. Next time the renewal arrives pop it into the recycling.

Then write to TV Licensing & remove the implied right of access to your property to all of their employees, agents & representatives.

When the letters arrive to scare you, simply write on the back of the envelope NCRTS & post it back to them un-opended.

They are powerless if you follow my model of dealing with the anger of funding the BBC.

      Dont pay them.

      • 87
        Pundit tu tu. says:

And while you are at it throw out the TV as you do not need the dumbing down that is so rampant on BBC. Use the radio and the internet for international news and information of repute – much better.
Thousands of people are doing this which is why the BBC are ramping up their enforcement teams with third party “security” thugs.

Bankers!, y’know, my sources, innit, thanks for that Robert and now back to the studio.

        Blowing Whistles says:

This is definately not recommended reading – however

Both Peston and Lord Levy – wrote (self-promoting) books.

It’s very revealing to see page after page the I, Me, Me, I, I …. self-promoting rhetoric they spin … oops spill out page after page after page …. ZZZZZZZ’s!

The BBC doesn't actually report news says:

Nobody watches/listens to the BBC expecting to get impartial news reporting…or in fact actual news which isn’t a “promo” for one of their upcoming programmes…You get more impartial news reporting from Russia To-day.

The BBC sold it’s soul to Labour decades ago…you only ever get to work for them if you know someone who is already working for them or if you are an ex-Labour politician or an ex-employee of The Guardian

  21. 39
    Weygand says:

Channel 4 News and Newsnight both annoy with their in-house agenda; interviewees not so much questioned as to their own analysis but interrupted, harrassed and herded into endorsing that of the interviewer. Just as on the appalling Today programme.

All three need an urgent re-think and recasting.

  22. 43
    Nobby Clark says:

664k viewers. Probably be easier – and cheaper – for Paxo to hire a community hall in North London and rant from there.

Newsnight, te best cure yet for insomnia.

    • 53

It is five years since I saw any of this stuff! Except Question Time which I have watched streaming with a proxy, as they don’t allow you to watch it overseas.

The interesting thing is that when I come back to the UK, increasingly less frequently, I don’t even bother to watch on the TV where I happen to be staying at the time. In fact, most nights I don’t switch the set on at all.

I do not miss it at all. It is very liberating.

Good-bye to you all, you fucking filth.
