Oh Warsi

Warsi is in Malaysia, but has managed to write to the Lords Standards Commissioner to ask to be investigated for her rather suspicious expenses. A preliminary probe has been triggered, with the full inquiry likely to follow. Scotland Yard claim not to have received a complaint. Yet. Presumably one of the ninety officers from Operation Weeting could be seconded for a couple of days?

UPDATE:

The question are mounting up:

“A Conservative spokesman said the peer stayed around 12 nights at the house over a period of about six weeks and believed she was a guest of Mr Khan, rather than Dr Moustafa. He would not say how much Lady Warsi paid to Mr Khan nor whether the payments were made in cash.

“If MPs want to say that the case should go to the police they can do that and they will look very silly,” he said. “It was for a very short period of time several years ago. She made a financial contribution around the same amount she would have paid for a hotel. Whatever agreements Dr Moustafa and Naweed had, that’s a matter for them.””

  • Where was the hotel she is using as a comparison, and how much did it cost?
  • How much did Warsi pay her Special Adviser Naweed Khan?
  • As a non-landlord this income is taxable. Did he declare it?

Blaming the SpAd? Hunt would be proud…

Regarding the taxable nature of the payment on the third party’s behalf – so what? That’s nothing to do with Warsi and she can’t be held responsible for it. It’s not worth mentioning.

This all sounds like lackadaisical cock-up rather than conspiracy to me.

The odd bit is down to the doctor, and what he got paid etc.

He says he let Mr Kahn use his house free.
It would then be rather odd for Mr. Kahn to sublet to Ms Warsi. An unusual arrangement, but possible I suppose.

But, I also got the impression that the doctor had given keys and permission to use the house directly to Ms Warsi for free. Thas would be hard to explain away.

    The tribal wisdom of the Lakota Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says that;

“When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount”.

However, in government more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:

    1. Buying a stronger whip.

    2. Changing riders.

    3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.

    4. Arranging to visit foreign countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.

    5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.

    6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.

    7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.

    8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed

    9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse’s performance.

    10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse’s performance.

    11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.

    12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.

    And of course….
13 Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

Abe Lincoln told a similar story about a man who wouldn’t leave his wagon after one of the two horses had died.

He would not unload some cargo, fearing it would be stolen, even though by doing so his one horse would have been able to pull the rest of it.
He did not ride for help and back on the horse, although he could have been quite quick, fearing the same cargo stolen and losing all of it.
He just sat upon his wagon whipping the live and the dead horse and hoping somehow the wagon would move.

I don’t want that idiot Milibrain shrieking for a recall of parliament again.
That little pip squeak has form on calling for resignations and recess ending recalls during the holidays…erm..I mean..during the important constituency business period.

So, Labour, as we are all already on the beaches, lets be grown up about it.

    You want a scalp.
If we ever had a vote of on who’s the most expandable in the party, Warsi would win it.

So lets all agree. You STFU and be quiet while we all enjoy two weeks in Nice.
When we come back we’ll help you toss her on that bonfire you’ve already got lit for Brookes?

    OK?

Why do you say “•As a non-landlord this income is taxable”?

The rent a room scheme allows £4250 pa rent before it is declarable, and applies to both owned and rented homes. I see nothing specific about homes provided ‘rent free’ being excluded.

Hunt is in the frame for abusing public office.

Osborne is in the frame for leaking market sensitive information surrounding Newscorp.

Cameron is trying to find time to be coached by lawyers at a public inquiry.

Yet all the Press seem to want to talk about is some Asian woman who appears to have been promoted above her station by Cameron.

The original story seems to have centred around her failure to disclose some rental income to HOL which had nevertheless been disclosed to HOC and The Revenue. When this looked a bit thin the story turned to her claiming subsistence allowances.

What is it about politicos and their special advisers? Billy Hague and that nice young man and now the fragrant Baronessa nd these two “”gentlemen”.

Still, at last your society is vibrant, modern and multi culti with honor killings, politicians stealing public money to pay their supporters and just to liven things up the odd witchcraft murder of a child.

Thanks be that you have finally abandoned the wicked ways of those white christian who told the truth loved their Queen and Country and showed neither fear nor favor to anyone else. Remember when the House of lords was full of Ladies and Gentlemen?

Definitely time for further Lords’ reform. We need more effnicks and more wimmin. cos they is more inclusive innit?
